Reworking the Gold spots.

So do you think it's fair that the defender, who might be responsible for guarding the flag and/or has a whole bunch of mines placed so they can't afford to die, still has to go to the centre like everyone else and leave the base unguarded while they catch the gold box?

 

That was the main reason for adding drop locations on the bases - to give dedicated defenders a chance to catch the gold without having to risk losing the flag while they're away or losing their placed mines if they die in the central "gold brawl".

On top of that... you have to remember that Gold Box can fall in both bases, so it might be on your base, or on the other team's base.

On both cases, it doesn't necessarily mean that team member will get it, if you're fast and smart enough, you still have a fairly good chance of getting it.

I liked the discussion, and I agree with him, because when Gold dropped in the middle all the time, (for example, Stadium) people would just wait at the edge with a Dictator (or a Hornet on a Friends' Dictator) and just drive as soon as they see the Gold.

No Skill, no frantic driving around the map to find the Gold Box, just pure luck.

Can't they just put the spots in the middle? That would be soooooooo much better..... its almost impossible to get golds in big maps now....

This is your justification? Making this fair for defender? What if a lot of enemies find out that the gold will drop near the defender? They will kill him and bye bye mines ^^

Well, I'm just quoting what the developers said when this update was released. Perhaps you're right, but to be honest - I never encountered a situation where the defender stays at the base during the gold box fall and happens to catch the gold because it falls on the base.
