Self-destruct idea

Recommended Posts

Potato here,

My friend also told me his other idea that when we self-destruct or blow up (dead), we do damage to other enemies nearby. I do realize there are advantages and disadvantages, so I have provided a pro and con list that will be edited based on your feedback. Each explosion should do damage a little greater than M1 Thunder with 1.5x power. Double Damage will not increase explosion damage, however, if the enemy has Double Armor activated, it will decrease the damage that they take from the explosion.

Pros:

  • It would make up for the self-destruct penalty (self-destructing takes away one kill and 5 score, gaining a kill gives you 10 score and one kill; so self-destructing takes away 5 but IF you kill someone (not all the time), you get 10 score and gain 5 score and one kill.
  • It would make Thunder more popular because then people won't be scared of hurting themselves in close combat with Thunder.
  • It won't severely affect gameplay because theres not always an enemy close enough to take damage from self-destruct explosion.
  • Damage taken from explosion depends on how close you are to the person
  • Self-destructing still takes away score and you only gain score if you kill someone (which is not all the time)

Cons:

  • People could take advantage of this by going kamikaze mode and running to the enemy's base and self-destructing
  • People could self-destruct while fighting a Firebird, Freeze, or Isida (maybe Hammer)
  • Firebird, Freeze, Isida, and maybe Hammer could gain a major disadvantage considering that they are close range weapons

I am open for discussion and a glad to receive feedback from you guys.

Thanks for reading this! :)

Actually it shouldn't give you an extra 5 but give you 10 to make up for the 5 taken away and preserve the kill.
  • It would make Thunder more popular because then people won't be scared of hurting themselves in close combat with Thunder.
  • It won't severely affect gameplay because theres not always an enemy close enough to take damage from self-destruct explosion. Actually players will just ram an enemy with guns blazing within 10 seconds of self-destructing.

  • Self-destructing still takes away score and you only gain score if you kill someone (which is not all the time)

Cons:

  • People could take advantage of this by going kamikaze mode and running to the enemy's base with guns blazing and self-destructing
  • People could self-destruct while fighting a Firebird, Freeze, or Isida (maybe Hammer)
  • Firebird, Freeze, Isida, and maybe Hammer could gain a major disadvantage considering that they are close range weapons

All of that persuades the developers to not implement this feature.

Actually it shouldn't give you an extra 5 but give you 10 to make up for the 5 taken away and preserve the kill.

That gives you an extra five; lets say your score is 435, then you self-destruct, your score becomes 430, but you kill someone, that gives you plus 10 score, which makes your score 440, which gives you plus 5 score and preserves kill

Actually players will just ram an enemy with guns blazing within 10 seconds of self-destructing.

Thats the cons that i already stated, plus theres the possibility of them dying before they get close enough and if they dont kill when they explode then they get score deducted, so its a risk you have to take if you you want to go kamikaze mode. most likely, if they can reach an enemy within 10 seconds of pressing delete, they gotta have a fast hull (assuming they're farther away), which lacks health and can probably be killed before they get there.

interesting idea. It would be a bit of a game-changer although since there are a few more important things the Devs have to worry about atm, i wouldn't be surprised of an element of this is added to the game in the unity version.

ok tell me where

1.u get only 5 points for a SD kill so u dont lose or gain any points by SDing

2.if a thunder SD by shooting a wall when an enemy is near no one would get effected same goes to vulcan(overheating)

3.impact force of the explosion should be low so that it wont flip any light hulls

ok number 3 is good but number 1 defeats the whole purpose of this suggestion and number 2 is completely irrelevant.

atleast 1 will make up to the points we're lsing bcuz of SD

lets say if a thunder is been attacked by an isida it could destroy with just SD & this might encourage players to SD more when using thunder & that is the reason why the current system was added

like i said, the point of this suggestion is to try to kill enemies if you self destruct or use self-destructing as an attack or defense strategy, not make up for lost points when you self destruct.

Still, very unlikely to be implemented(barely any of the ideas here are even worked on due to the developer's plans).

how many times do i have to say this, if we dont gain or lose anything, then they should just take away the self-destruct penalty, which they will never do and is a completely different topic for discussion. if we don't gain or lose anything, then there is no point in considering this idea.

I disagree. Thunder will benefit too much from this idea. And thunder is already very popular. Thunder doesn't need a buff. It is perfectly balanced. And, as you have mentioned close range weapons will be highly disadvantaged. This will generate imbalance amongst all turrets, which is highly undesirable.

thunder just got severely nerfed with the slower reload and i still have to three-shot an m3 hornet even with the supposed 'damage increase'
