Bonuses for kill streaks

A couple of times I get really excited and feel really pro (I'm pretty sure a lot of you guys do too) when I'm on a kill streak or I get a double/triple kill. Especially when I'm using Railgun. 

 

The suggestion:

  • Implement a killstreak system
  • Plus 5 XP for every consecutive kill made in one life i.e. 1st kill 10XP, 2nd kill 15XP, etc. up to 6 kills
  • Multi-kills made in the killstreak would give more XP than consecutive kills that are made one by one
  • I.e. Double kill 20XP, Triple kill 25XP, Quad kill 35XP, Penta-kill 50XP, anything above would be very difficult unless you are playing a Polygon CP which is still pretty uncommon and difficult to pull off (excluding Double Damage users but usually there are people with Double Armor equipped and there probably isn't 6 people at the point at once.
  • All killstreaks and double/combo kills are made with one life. Activating a repair kit would get rid of your killstreak.
  • XP Multiplier resets at 6 kills to prevent counter leveling
  • Another suggestion would be to add a killstreak timer where you are given a certain amount of time to kill as many players as possible within that time to prevent campers. The timer would activate once you get 2/3 consecutive kills in one life
  • XP for team kills should be more than solo/regular kills (as in multiple players contribute to one kill, thus giving each player more XP instead of the normal 15XP split) The 15XP split happens often in XP/BP battles (the most common battles now) where one player does most of the damage to a hull and the other one kills him and the XP is split 11-4 (average) respectively.

Pros:

  • Encourages players to develop skills to dodge shots and increase accuracy and efficiency
  • Makes most of the turrets more popular since most of the turrets are capable of killing multiple enemies at once (only Smoky, Isida, Ricochet, and Vulcan are one-kill-at-a-time but kill streaks are still viable)
  • Helpful for those who do not have the Premium account 50% XP bonus and want to rank up fast
  • Must be solo kills, no team assists
  • Increases popularity of Isida since you can heal yourself while you kill enemies
  • Happens once in while
  • Ever since the changes in CTF where all contributors to a kill get divided xp, there has been way way less TDM battles, so this system could promote more TDM battles because there is no flag to worry about so you can concentrate on getting those killstreaks. ;)

Cons:

  • Can be taken advantage of by players who gather a group of friends and line them up for easy multi-kill and bonus xp
  • The main con is that it encourages drugging (with a heavy hull and lots of health) to get kill streaks
  • System favors Shaft (RustyNail), however, Shaft is not the only turret that can multi-kill and it is very rare in battles for a players to line-up for a Shaft in the proper position with the right angle and damage to multi-kill them.
  • Isida, Smoky, Ricochet, and Vulcan cannot get multi-kills which is unfair and promotes other turrets capable of it (RustyNail)

I think this would also help restore peoples' love for Shaft and Thunder. May be I'm wrong but it'd be good to hear from Shaft users and see what they think.

 

Interesting idea.

 

I love those times when I'm getting a run of kills, especially with something short range like Isida. I feel so... so powerful.

Pretty cool idea. This would have been possible with the old XP system where the person who destroyed the individual strictly got the 10 points. However, since current settings are anybody who contributed to the kill get the points, there really is no way someone can get a kill streak unless they get two or more 10 point kills in a row, which is pretty hard unless your spawn killing.

I suggested this for Smoky before as an alternative to the critical shot, where you would start with low damage, but the damage would gradually increase to a maximum as you hit more and more consecutive shots on target. Although it would be interesting to see this sort of bonus for other guns.

what would that look like in CTF?Isidas can't (along with rico,smoky and hammer) make multiple kills,plus,players would concentrate to kill only,for gaining larger amonut of XP,flags would be more or less pointless IMO

no, however much xp you get from a single flag capture depends on how many active players are on the other team. for example, a noise ctf 8v8, but only 6 of the red team is active and a blue person captures a flag without dropping it or dying. that blue team player would get 60 xp for that capture.

 

the bonus xp system is different, it gives you bonus xp for every consecutive kill you get without team assists. CTF is already very popular. from what i can see, most of the battles on the battle list are ctf battles

 

plus isida people already get extra xp from healing teammates so its not really a problem. and fyi, hammer CAN kill multiple people at once. and i didnt say just multi-kills, i said multi-kills, combo kills, or kill streaks (which dont necessarily involve multi-kills)

ok i changed it so its only extra xp for killing an enemy by yourself, no team assists. :)

I personally think that XP for team kills should be a bit more than regular kills, but yes, this is a good idea.

 

My proposal to somewhat "solve" the issue of power-leveling: The XP multiplier should stop at 6 consecutive kills, then the counter resets. (Also, to make it more interesting, taking damage or activating a repair kit resets the counter as well.)

i think taking damage is fine as long as you don't die, but i agree with the "activating a repair kit" part

Who said smokey is not good I have m1 smokey a I get like 3-6 kills in a row with high rankers than me . And ur idea is awesome.

lol we never said smoky isnt good :P we just brought up a previous smoky improvement suggestion
