Switching teams during the battle

How about Tanki enable the option to switch teams during the battle, like most other shooting multiplayer games, and they don't seem to have the problem of so many ubalanced battles like Tanki have. You could enable this for switching from bigger team to smaller only, so the greedy kids would not abuse it.

 

(UPDATE)- You would not loose your score!

 

You would get a  score reward for doing something good for the battle, like 100 points or something.

(would probably have to limit reward to two times per battle)

 

- Keep in mind that difference between the teams is not always big, and usualy there is enough time left to change the end result of the match. To all you poser crystal gasping - mentality people still saying 'no one would switch' - speak for yourselves, cause a lot of people would, especialy with the bonus.

 

Another thing: with enabling this system Tanki would have absolutely NOTHING TO LOSE, only to gain. Anyone that plays this game for the fun (and most of those don't feel the need to use the forum at all, as forums in most past - time activities are known to be the thing of poser - brats) of it knows that fighting unbalanced battles is boring and useless, right now, the share of battles with decent balance of the teams is no more than 1/3. Sad.

 

(UPDATE2) I had another idea, that i posted a few days ago but the post somehow got missing. It is a simple sistem to balance battles at the begining, not during the battle. When the round ends, a question would appear: 'Would you like to play in next battle?' If you click 'NO', the sistem would send you to battles menu. Then the computer would calculate the numbers of players who clicked 'YES', and place half of them on the red team, and half of them on the blue team. 

 

I would appreciate your ideas of ballancing battles as well, cause something really need to change.

I don't know about most games, but i played a lot of Urban Terror and COD 2, and there that worked really well.

Let's say some players leave while the battle is lasting, and there are now eight people on the blue team and 2 people on red, and the game is now boring and uselles. Players want to balance the battle, and three players on blue team click CHANGE TEAM button and the balance of teams is now 5 to 5.

no one would be willing to switch to the losing team

A lot of people would, actually, especialy if the score difference is not big or even on the side of smaller team, and there is enough time left in the game so everything can change.

This might be a thing you'll be able to do when the new update comes out - the one that allows you to leave the battle without losing your score. Although I'm not sure if it means that you'll retain your score when switching to the other team.

I am pretty sure you'll lose your score if you join another team.

correct but still u wouldnt want to switch if you're team is winning & if you're first

Ehh having members constantly switching from side to side would be problematic as to any player wouldn't really know who their teammates actually were. Comradeship is very important in a game like Tanki. Having this option would sort of destroy that aspect of the game as well as leave many players to not trust each other, or depend on each other to win.

As a matter of fact we did discussed this idea a while ago. We end up discarding it for reasons.

Damn, i just wish Tanki would do something, besides the early battle termination sistem that turned out kind of useless. I love this game, but i find the constant struggle to find a ballanced battle super- annoying. I would really apreciate any ideas on this subject, cause damn, something needs to change.

Let's take your example of 8 blue and 2 red. Say the game is 30 minutes liong, playing CTF on Silence and there is 15 minutes left in the game. Score is 6-0 blue's favor, top 3 scores are 293, 257, 184 and dwindles down from there to the lowest score of 94. There needs to be 3 players from blue to go to the red team to balance it out. Do you really think the top 3 scorers are going to go to the red team? I hardly think so. Are the lower scorers going to go to red team and go up against the top scorers of blue team? I don't think so. Even if they did retain their score. Why should they? What is the incentive? If I were on blue and we were winning, I certainly wouldn't switch teams. The winning team gets more crystals than the losing team. Would you risk that?

 

Again, let's say team limit is 8 per team and for some unknown reason, known only to themselves, 3 members of the blue team switch over to the red team. That leaves 3 open spaces on both team. The next person to join will go to the red team? I don't think so, they will go to blue because they are winning. Again, the team is unbalanced.

 

Many times I have seen the remaining players of a losing team pause the game and become just ghosts of themselves or disappear altogether. Would you switch teams knowing that 2 of your team members are not there to help? I have switched teams thinking another team member might get them back into the game, but it didn't. After a while, the ghost tanks left and the others never showed up, leaving me by myself. I should have stayed with the team I started out with, I would have had a lot more than 84 crystals. 

 

Ok, now where are we? There's 8 blue and 2 reds. Three members of blue (whose scores are somewhere in the middle of high and low) are bored and decide to liven up the game a bit by taking a risk and changing teams. Now the teams are balanced 5 each, leaving 3 spaces open on an 8 man team. The next player joins blue because blue is winnining 6-0. The battle is on again. The next player has to join red, but that's ok with him, because he really doesn't care who wins or loses, he's just there for the xp because he wants to rank up. So, his contribution to winning is mediocre at best. Now, supposing the 2 original players of red have decided to pause in and out for the rest of the game or are timed out. Now, you're down 2 players. Who from the blue team is going to change to red?

 

A vonlunteer option to switch teams and retaining your score sounds like a good idea, but would it be advantagous for a player to quit a winning to join a losing team? Apparently for some it would, according to some players who have posted here. But you can count me out. I'm not willing to take the risk. I play for the crystals, not for xp. I'm greedy, I want xp AND crystals...lots of crystals.

But that would encourage players to join another team just because it is winning or a few team mates are AFK. This idea is good but I don't think it would help the game much at all.

 

Also, players would change teams for funds, or just change teams for a few minutes to mult (ensure their team wins.)
