Biggest problem in Tanki Online: SABOTAGE

Hopefully, this thread will get a read from everyone involved in developing this beautiful game. It's about the biggest issue and for sure the most frustrating one, specific for bigger ranks. Unfortunatelly, solutions like getting everyone together, face-to-face like the Chinese clans did is not a viable option, implementing new play strategy being necessary, if a good, healthy play environment is targeted by the Tanki Online developers.

 

This is how sabotage is done and why is impossible to be removed with the actual gameplay:

 

1. Users on high ranks have the experience and knowledge to fake their play without getting unwanted attention from a mod, if reported; this players know how to pause and to make a kill once in a while, and long pauses again, and when the winner is secured he knows he can leave the battle on good terms with his friends from the other team;

 

2. Users on high ranks already have many friends they have met in Tanki, some of them willing to help in this sabotage scenarios in the name of their friendship;

 

3. Most of this sabotage scenarios take place in long battles with few players, on small maps(3-4 players/team, Farm and Island being the preffered ones). On this battles, one sabotaging player decides the winner, for the obvious reason: 100% team vs. 75%/66% team;

 

4. Put in simple words, high rank single, fair players will always lose against this friend-clan teams that are cheating by sabotaging this type of battles that occur in small maps, with few players.

 

5. The obvious reason for sabotaging is crystals. Thus, users that play in this sabotage scheme will earn more crystals than the fair ones, and gain more power by each day because of buying new garage items. Thus, once more, the fair users are obligated to buy crystals for new items if they wish to be as competitive, but when realizing that his opponent can have them by playing unfair he finds himself in front of three options: a)to get involved in the sabotage scheme; b)to play short term, with small fund battles; c)to give up playing tanki. However, a point d), where he would buy crystals with money is not an option for him anymore, because he would feel dumb and robbed knowing how other players make crystals in the game.

 

So, that's how sabotage works, if you guys, didn't knew by now. Recording and reporting this cheaters is basically useless, for the simple reason that it's hard to prove the issue in front of a mod. Pausing a battle, or missing shots on poor hull/turret combos are hardly a reason to ban someone for sabotage, and mods are powerless in front of this evidence.

 

The solution for this problem can only be found in changing the joining battle system. Unless it's a private battle, where friends and clans can join to play against other friends and clans, users shouldn't be allow to join one specific battle and shouldn't have the option to invite friends. This has to happen random, user choices being restricted to the type of battle he is willing to attend. Also, there should be a waiting time between joinings, to prevent the user trying to enter a specific battle.

 

Again, the problem of sabotage affects both fair players not willing to pay money in a corrupt system and Tanki Online by not being able to collect more money, allowing easy crystals gain within the battle in the behalf of the unfair users, encouraging them to be unfair, creating an unfair, rotted environment.

 

Thank you for reading and hopefully something will be done about this problem, the biggest in my opinion, for both parts.

If this update came into the game, I have a feeling many, and I mean many, players would leave. One thing you have realize is the problem with sabotage has been going on ever since the game started. It's a problem that the Devs have some sort of solution available (game_violators section), but the methods of reporting aren't readily available to ever single player as is for Chat Violators.

Removing the option to join any battle current to your rank is preposterous! Tanki Online is a game where a place where to play together and make new friends. If you can't join a battle you want, it defeats the entire purpose of the game. I don't think this idea should be added to the game. No offence sir, but please think a bit deeper before posting and idea next time.

well,I'll put my 2 cents on this topic..OP,in presenting the problem you've hit the core of the sabotage problem,I fully agree on that,but the solution you proposed is way too drastic,I'm part of the clan,I like to play with my friends,and we play ONLY clean games,no mults/saboteurs..there is,I am sure,more teams like my is too,although,I'm aware that there are many crews that use mults just to win..I,as well as my team,don't find satisfaction in winning with mults,where's the fun in that?..you win some,you loose some,if you play fair game..also,there have always been and will be unfair games,but,measurres you propose are,insane..friends system would be pointless then..I really think that the game violators would only need to be punished much harder then the are now..heck,even we posted videos ofobvious sabotagers in our team to the forum,when opponents manage to infiltrate one of those in our team,in many cases videos were rejected as "unsufficient proof" although,I really can't understand sometimes how the heck mods can't see obvious..to conclude,punishment for sabotage needs to be that harsh,thet potential saboteur need to think twice before attempt to sabotage the game

Changing words just make people more angry... OLDEST is worse than biggest  :unsure:

I some time wonders if the problem of mults is unique to tanki or a problem that generally exists in online gaming..I am inclined to think that this problem is not unique to tanki but a general problem in most multiplayer online games ...As for solutions to solve this problem i think if the solution was as simple as the one presented by the OP then it would have been implemented long time ago. keep the ideas comin.
