The sun will  destroy the earth in the year 60472 AD when it goes supernova and explodes, it may however increase in activity and turn the Earth into a molten planetary object, devoid of all life as we know it by 2062.

Actually destroyed , I suppose could be computed by comparing the gravitational pull of the Sun versus the centrifugal momentum of our planet. The Earth is on a "death's spiral".

 

It will be a while.

 

However , our human "civilisation" developed with the aid of electrical and internal combustion engines is less than 200 years old. If a "good" solar flare hits all of this will be destroyed.They say we have been lucky several times even in the past 50 years. I doubt our civilisation has 200 more years at most , before it is "erased'. If something happens in less than next 100 years , we are "screwed".
