Flood/Spam problems

Every time I see "SERVER UPDATE" pop up, a lot of players start flooding the chat, and complaining. Because flooding the chat is against the game rules, I was thinking there could be a "auto-disable system" for the chat bar so that it isn't flooded.

Good idea.....but what about conversations that are immediately cut off? I mean, you have to have time to say good-bye and all that....

the flood has always been there and is only their for a minute plus most people once they see the server update sign just log off. I'm sure that flood doesn't really hurt anyone.

Wait, so do you want the chat to be disabled completely (so nobody can post messages), or just for yourself? If you simply think that the chat is a distraction, then you can go into settings and turn the chat off. If you're suggesting to turn it off for everyone, then I disagree with that as it simply cuts off conversations for no reason. Flood isn't much of a problem in the chat - it doesn't really hurt anyone and, in the situation you're describing it only lasts a minute.

 

P.S. If you suggest that the chat is turned off 1 minute before server restart, then it will simply mean that the wave of flood will happen 1 minute earlier and the problem won't be solved. If you suggest that any player has the option to disable chat for everyone - it's not going to happen as everyone will not hesitate to abuse that power.

this happens when players are excited about an up[coming update or when they're angry about the server update if that player was in a good battle so i see no point of disabling chat for it cuz it only lasts for like 40 secs
