Greetings, readers. The aim of this series is to let the community know what I personally think the best teams are for team gamemodes in a given map. In this article, I'll be examining the map Atra. Let's crack on!

TDM

Combination #1

The first combination I'd pick is Shaft-Viking; bearing in mind the updates that have come Shaft's way, this may seem a bit ridiculous, but in this case, I feel as though I can vouch for its utility here. The plan is for it to stay back dealing damage to enemies in their very own base. It would use any three of the walls back there to deny detection of the laser scope and strike quickly before the enemy can react.

Combination #2

The second combination I'd pick is Railgun-Wasp; the plan is to use the walls at the top of the map to prevent damage and snipe from above in an attempt to severely weaken enemies. The peek-a-boo tactic, which if you didn't know, involves hiding behind any prop, striking with a shot, before hiding again to repeat the process, upon successfully recharging.

Combination #3

The third combination I'd pick is Thunder-Hunter; the aim is for it to shoot enemies at common and narrow routes, which leaves quite some scope, bearing in mind that the map isn't exactly large, and all routes are narrow and common - this should put the splash damage to decent use. It will reside at the top floor since it's less cramped up there.

Combination #4

The fourth combination I'd pick is Smoky-Viking, who will get a tad bit closer and more personal with the enemies, due to its range. However, its high impact force can enable it to knock off the aim of said enemies, which will ultimately enable it and its teammates will live longer, since their shots will fail to connect.

Combination #5

The last combination I'd pick is Isida-Hornet, and the primary aim would be to back up the Smoky-Viking, since that's the combination that's most at risk of enemy fire. If need be, it'd assist other teammates on its way there. Both light hulls will do just as well here, although Hornet is my hull of preference in this case.

CTF

Combination #1

The first combination I'd pick is Freeze-Titan; a lack of range seems rather silly in this map, but this combination won't be leaving the base. Its job is to hide behind the wall and protect the flag at all costs. The Freeze will slow down the enemies and so enable a hull on the heavier side such a Titan to keep up with things.

Combination #2

The second combination I'd pick is Smoky-Hunter. Its aim is to play a midfield role at the top of the map. It will attack enemies as they make the move to the top of the map; the last prop is an inclined one which means this combinations can attempt to make something of this opportunity by knocking them off-balance; this can particularly be beneficial if the enemy team consisted of primarily light hulls, since there's a chance of flipping them - such a circumstance isn't impossible, given the popularity of Hornet.

Combination #3

The third combination I'd pick is Ricochet-Titan, and it would reside at the bottom map in attempt to prevent that from even being an entrance. There's not really anywhere for it to use its signature ability, but it's got the range to reach an enemy that thinks they can shoot from distance. Thunder is also a viable option, but I decided against it since the splash damage would be more of a hindrance than an asset.

Combination #4

The fourth combination I'd pick is Ricochet-Viking, and it would be the team's attacker. It would enter via the elevated side entrances so it can deal damage before it reaches the flag and it would escape via the bottom route, since it can seek assistance from Combination #3's Ricochet's Titan in tougher times. This also makes for less exposure, although an awkward shot from a Thunder could spell trouble.

Combination #5

The last combination I'd pick is Isida-Hunter, purely for the purpose of supporting our attacker, since invading's not going to be a walk in the park. It would also be great use for the defender who won't always be able to kill enemies without losing a speck of HP.

CP

For a small map, the number of Control Points shocked me when I first saw it:

Combination #1

The first combination I'd pick is Freeze-Titan once again, in an attempt to secure points D and E. It will be useful for the enemies that want to get close and personal and it should make easy work of those that spawn near it.

Combination #2

The second combination I'd pick is Ricochet-Titan, and it would assist the Freeze-Titan in securing the points D and E. Freeze's range will only let it go so far; it will fall down to longer range turrets. Therefore, a bulky supporter with range is just what it needs to keep it up and running.

Combination #3 and 4

The third and fourth combinations I'd pick are Twins-Titans, and the aim for it is to secure the points A, B, and C. There would be one stationed between points B and A and the other would be stationed between A and C which means that in an ideal world, enemies would not be able to reach point A. These combinations can use the walls to hide from longer range turrets and force them to come up there if they want the point.

Combination #5

Last but not least, I'd have an Isida-Hunter roaming around the map to make sure the team of Titans are alright. This is so every point can be retained as such.

I have had ideas in the past on what to do, but the only one that I can think of is that I would rather have a hornet smoky or hammer instead of viking rico for attacking. On second thought, just hammer, as it can get in quickly, with drugs, do massive damage, and then run back while reloading, then be full to attack again, etc.

I sometimes even use Hornet-Shaft, fast and powerful combo!

I dislike the newbs that use that, does it sometimes work, yes, but use at least a hull that can survive a shaft, so at least for u, m1 hunter. Don't be the newb who gets 1 shoted before he even has to time charge and shot once. It happens a lot, lol.
