Ability to hide your post and close your topics

Recommended Posts

  • I think, just like in PMs you can delete yous post, why should you be able to do that are a regular forum topic as well? It would also help in case of some lag that makes you post a post twice, you can just delete one of them. But instead of deleting a post, you will only be able to hide it, why? Because the posy may have a violation in it and the player might think he's smart by deleting the post before a mod/admin can see it and put it on his/her karma.

  • Also, another idea, you should be able to close your own topic without a moderators help. For example, you want to close your clan, you (only the person who opened the topic) can easily click a button and close the topic. You may also re-open it if wanted. But note: if a moderator or admin closes the topic, it won't be able to be reopened.

1. Agreed.

2. If a moderator closes a topic, then the OP should not be able to re-open it.

3.16. The Administration shall be entitled, upon its own discretion, to delete any information or message; delete/move the topic created in the wrong Forum's section, without notification.

Forum Moderators are the keepers of the peace here, you can still PM a moderator, asking to re-open a closed topic and the topic will be open again if you provide a valid reason.

Only the clan leader is allowed to make a request for closing a clan topic.  Request should be sent to one of the Cybersport Moderators in a personal message

The forum moderators are responsible for closing un-needed or unwanted topics. This is if you simply want to close your own topic. Why should there be a problem with closing something you created?

Good idea. (Waiting for Mafioza121)

Deleting your post would mean that when someone violates rules and gets reported, they can delete their post to avoid getting banned. But as an alternative the players could definitely have an option to hide their post, so if it has a violation moderators will still be able to view it, however it will help keep the forum clean in times when players accidentally double post due to lag (as said above) and for many other reasons. I don't see why this option shouldn't be given to players.

As for topic closure - maybe. The issue here is that when there is a good topic the player will have the power to close it at any moment, instantly muting the discussion. We (moderators) are actually told to avoid closing topics when possible and merge them instead, so that the conversation can continue. So if this privilege is to be given to players, then it should only be available for a few hours or maybe a day, while the topic is new so that the player can close it if they change their mind. Again - this will be useful for double-posting due to lag.

Doing these things means you need a moderator's powers. If you want a topic closed ask a Forum Mod. Again if you don't want your posts to be seen, ask a Forum Mod and we'll remove them.

I'm pretty sure the admins would be able to create a new group that only allows you to hide your own posts and close your own topics. I mean, we already have the "edit" option enabled only for your own posts, so why not add "hide" to it?

With all due respect sir, what's the difference? Why can't we just do it ourselves? It'd be quicker and avoid wasting the mods time. In the end, the post would be hidden anyways.

People can already hide their violations by editing their post and replace the text with "Deleted." Anyways, changed main post to hide instead of delete.

Please change title to "Ability to hide posts and close your topics"

You are both wrong. When your post is hidden the total number of posts shown under your nickname does not decrease. That's why there are some players who might have 5 posts, but when you click "find content" on their profile no results are shown.

What about hiding them for a week? They will disappear from the forum, but moderator will still be able to see them for a week.

No point hiding them for a week. It's not like the forum will run out of space anytime soon, while making a whole new system to delete hidden posts after a week would be pointless waste of time. Besides, some moderators post and then hide their own posts for later use if necessary. This useful feature wouldn't be available if hidden posts were auto-deleted.
