That seems like a really good idea. And easy to implement, I think.

If you have reasons to back the suggestion, then roll with it.

i would really like to see a RANDOM BATTLE button becide the create button if you click that button a list will pop up (DM,TDM,CP,CTF,XP,XP/BP, or BP) if you want a non-pro battle it will be in a check box {NON-PRO} well if you want a pro battle it will say {PRO} when you choose the battle mode and format you want it will enable the {JOIN RANDOM BATTLE} it will only work if the battle is avaliable at your rank and it will switch you servers if there is not any battle in your current session... feed back pls xD

That is Valley. Dead, unfortunately. Was of the 10 maps to be removed. It survived, thankfully. I enjoy playing XP on it because of how the different places for cover are situated and all the angles you have to be wary of. It beats playing 6 matches on Sandbox every day.

  • Incorporate some system where larger maps have a slightly faster-growing battle fund, and maybe even faster XP accumulation, in order to make larger maps desirable to play on. In addition, perhaps you could increase the amount of players that can compete at once in larger maps, to boost the action even more.

Indeed another viable method of promotion, more a long the lines of what PuncherTank suggest's. I don't think increasing the number of players will affect the popularity of them. It will only make it harder to start the battle in the first place.

As a CP only player, . . .   I like to play most medium to large maps.

ONLY CP? on Large maps? That seems unheard of to me. Some players have a tough enough time playing Polygon with that 1 point, let alone 7 in Lost Temple..but thats a different story.

There is something fundamentality wrong somewhere as to why the variety of maps slowly disappears as one ranks up.

There isn't a single cause or a single solution to the issue, but I can summarize it in the following 4 problems:

I agree with the statement in yellow and the multiple issues. I tend to focus more on the 3rd and 4th problems in my posting. I know the first one is out of our control, and I think the second ties in with the fourth, in a sense. Players know where they can be most efficient and thats where they prefer to go. Of course the fourth still has the aspect of players not wanting to expand and learn new maps, which is difecult to do because of what the playerbase is already attuned to. I'd like to hint at this with the issue of the maps as you go up in ranks.

Problem 5: Different ranges of ranks have different maps that are more popular than maps in other ranges (wat, does that make sense?) The map Cross for example is popular in the lower ranks; how ever, as you progress up a few ranks you may not see cross much anymore. I don't ever see Cross, why? It goes back to a post I made describing the issue, attributing it to "herd mentality" or having to play what everyone else is. Sure, there may be subtle changes in peoples desires over time, but they're so unrecognizable that you can't say the playerbase as a whole, across ranks and map sizes is at its full variety, because it most certainly is not. So climbing through the ranks may force you to adapt to a new map here and there, but thats probably an average of about 7 maps learned in the timeframe in which it takes to get from Warrant Officer to Major, a minute change when the player has to ditch their favorite map they used to love to play back before their WO days (I don't know if that statement is precise, but its my hypothesis).

Solution: This idea itself can break down the clicks or groups of varying popularity up through the ranks by including different unpopular maps unlocked at different ranks. It mashes up what the players have known, of course still keeping what the playerbase knows and loves moderately popular. I can play Cross amongst players of my rank, and the maps the lower ranked player cannot play at the time, which they'll look forward to playing; hopefully they become popular.

_ _ _ _ _

That had me thought of an addition to the idea, what if for the period of the promotion, the maps in it were available at all ranks? That can be adjusted, right? Your thoughts?

 feed back pls xD

By "roll with it" I meant pursue it on your own topic. There I would give feedback)

Hopefully they are restructuring the system like we suggest as we speak. But If increasing gold boxes can be done, why can't they do that now?

I would love this but knowing how the developers are about this type of thing leads to me believe it will never happen. The game has a good number of player maps in it. I don't know exactly how many but I would say a quarter to a third of them are user generated. There is the capability to make maps on AlternativaEditor, which is an external program. The most recent additions to the roster that were player made was in the "Level designer contest" (which wasn't to find a designer, was to get a few maps that use their 3rd prop library); Future from Profnaz (a seasoned MapMaker), Factory from John_Makklaud and Platform (#RIP) from tank789. That was almost two years ago. They show no desire to let UGC into the game.

Another factor, thats not so pinning on the devs, is us players. If more of us showed more interest in the world of maps, more specifically making them, then the developers may be more willing to accept that kind of stuff. But how many of you can say you've created a complete, playable map in AE? We were able to get Aleksandrovsk, the former New year map, into the game, which seems to have fallen flat because of the playerbase's habits. Anyway, the more of us that are for map variety, the more likely map reform will happen.

As I was starting to mention, the playerbase rarely extends beyond what is popular, so that is expected. Its the product of nothing being done to mix up the maps. Again, could go either way, whether its the developers fault or the players fault. You decide.

I always appreciate someone who quotes the great Shakespeare. Thank you))

Anytime, respect belongs to those who deserve it :D

Not many very large maps being used, but there are a reasonable variety of 3 to 7 point medium to large-ish maps played on the Russian servers at the lower ranks at peak times.

I found a few specific RU servers where more CP games seem to be played, so I head straight to those. Different RU servers for different ranks, but even they start to all disappear eventually as my rank goes up. Such a shame...

Yes people need to play more maps. But as i see it there is no way to make that happen. EXCEPT if you do make golds bigger for say a week or so but not funds.Bigger golds is good but funds will only put more crystals into the bank for players who don't deserve them.Well there you have it MY opinion. :)

Yes I agree with your opinion, giving bigger funds to those who play on "regular" maps would be unfair. Although lets add bigger funds to the maps we're trying to influence to be more popular?  B)

funds will only put more crystals into the bank for players who don't deserve them.

You mean for those those that play Silence, Island, Polygon and Sanbox all the time; why do they deserve a special reward? For being able to get the most enjoyment on the dullest maps? Why should there not be a reward for tankers getting out of their comfort zone on an unpopular map?

Sorry, I didn't know if you were speaking in general or in regards to the idea. Just trying to keep discussion going.

It is understood that some players are not able to perform in larger maps, which is unfortunate. It would be ideal for you to be able to play those other maps because limiting the maps you play to the smaller maps, which is basically every popular map, is preventing you from experiencing all the game has to offer. Its a problem for everyone, regardless of how good/bad their connection is.

We can make a campaign for creating battles with rare maps after server restart, everybody can join and for example: monday, create 4 gravity matches, tuesday 4 chernobyl matches etc, this will encourage players to play different maps.

Excellent idea! :)

(I 'd love a chernobyl waiting for me, or a desert CTF, or even a good old Esplanade that I have not seen for quite sometime now...)

I agree this could go really well with the new update "Daily Challenges". We could have matches capture 10 flags on the map sandal or anything else, good idea.

When I first visited this topic I thought that Semyon Kirov noticed this topic and we'll notice new "events" very soon. But currently nothing happened.
