Mouse controls and changes in auto-aim mechanism

Shaft is completely unusable now.

Two issues,

1. When I zoom in, the shaft goes up or down without me doing anything.

2. When I do manage to aim, the actual shot is diagonally below (down right) from where the cross-hairs are. Basically aiming is impossible, and a shaft that cannot aim is useless.

Sorry, but this update is awful. Its made tanki unplayable for me atleast.

Update - I have refreshed, cleared cache, etc. etc.

I uploaded images to show what the issue is .. I have tried this on chrome and safari on mac.

Steps to repro,

1. Stand against a wall, and zoom using shaft

2.  Shoot

3. DO NOT use cursor keys or mouse, and zoom again - observe that the hit from shaft is down right from where the actual zoom was .. and .. this is much worse at longer distances (basically shaft is useless).

Here are pictures -

More proof for my point.

If you use Standalone Flash Player version 15 or 16, please update it to version 17 here. It will solve most of the issues you are facing with mouse controls.

This update makes me feel obnoxious i wont be playing for a while because it is bad for my eyes

Hello tankers!

Today, Tanki has received yet another feature for you to play with — the mouse control option!

You can use your mouse for camera control, aiming and shooting. Mouse controls can be enabled by using the respective option in the game settings page.

You will then need to enter fullscreen mode. To do so, simple left-click anywhere inside the game area (not the interface) during a battle. You can also use the dedicated fullscreen button in the upper menu.

To make the cursor appear while using mouse controls, press and hold the TAB key.

We have also added the ability to control your camera without rotating the turret. This is a welcome change for fans of turrets that have a slow rotation speed. Holding the right mouse button allows you to look around without rotating your turret.

You can switch between keyboard-only and mouse controls at any moment. To do that, use the turret rotation keys or the left mouse button respectively.

The mouse is an alternative control option aimed at those who are just starting out with Tanki, or existing players who would like to try out something new. It’s an additional feature. It can be easily disabled in the settings to prevent any accidental clicks.

What you see in the game is not the final version of the feature. It will be improved further, to make it more stable and easier to use. Also, due to restrictions outside our control, this feature is currently not supported by Chrome and Safari browsers. If you would like to try out mouse controls and your browser prevents you from doing so, please install Firefox or Opera.

By the way, we have also made some changes to the auto-aim mechanism:

  • Isida now aims not at the center of an enemy tank, but at the closest point of it.
  • Turrets now better aim for small visible parts of enemy tanks at long distances.
  • Auto-aim mechanism has been optimized, which can lead to performance improvements in some cases.

That’s all for now. Time for you to try out mouse controls! Make sure you share your thoughts about this new feature in comments below. Your feedback will help us polish it to perfection.

Good luck on the battlefield, tankers!

Since this has come in my shaft won't hit target and turret rotates for no reason, great update.......NOT

Nothing should happen when you  press tab, except for the scores and the cursor. It is not much help, but if you do not know where your cursor is, it is  useful.

Definitely more health, Hornet should remain the same controlwise,

we need one specific hull to skillfully slide around corners and

enemy fire...

Regarding the aiming update, the problem with the Shaft aiming

misplacement resolves itself once you go to full-screen, but the

issue of it going upward or downward whenever you enter aiming

mode still remains, for me it always goes UP so I have to tap

W every time I start to aim... annoying and inconvenient, but

managable, I played worse... but it still needs to be resolved.

PS: As an Isida tanker, I have to admit that I'm kinda INSULTED

with the Isida update. Now every time I heal or attack somebody

it looks like I'm spraying my YOU-KNOW-WHAT all over him,

my beam is wobbling all over the place like I'm a scizophreniac.

Sorry for being rude, but that's exactly what it feels like, what

was so wrong with the Isida beem going to the center of the

targer tank that it had to be changed???

The mouse control is a problem. I use an iMAC. Worked fine until I pressed the mouse control. My fault - I did not read the entire article which also stated that the controls are not ready for Chrome and safari, both which I use. However, a problem occuered when I turned the mouse control back to "off". The aiming mechanism in the shaft I use went sideways, to the left top corner of the screen. Other users I asked about this had the same complaint. Some just decided not to use the shaft any more. I eventually found a resolution - I downloaded the Firefox browser. Now the shaft works as new. Opera also solved the problem of aiming but, there is a problem with the other controls. So, anyway problem solved, unfortunately NOT thanks to the admin team of Tanki. New here is my major complaint. I got into one of the arenas to chat with an admin there. I explained my problem. HEADMASTERO told me to simply turn the mouse key off. After I explained that I had done so, he rudely suggested that my problem is becasue I have a terrible computer and that I should "trash it". Not only was this unhelpful and very inpolite, but also not true. This is not the way to treat a player. I was seeking help and in return got disregarded by this particular Admin. My expectation is that he/she will be at least told off that this is not the standard Tanki is aspiring to. I would like to recieve a wirtten statement in response to this message. I hope  that Tanki agrees that the solution to the problem with the aiming system should have first come from the Admin, not form me. My e-mail: peter_moisthero@yahoo.com.

How do I stop any mouse control option? It really messes up my Shaft aiming - comes on when I'm not expecting it  and auto aims my shaft into the ground against my will - very frustrating.

So it doesn't work for Chrome and Safari?

LIAR!

It doesn't work for anything.

Seriously, though. You need to stop making pointless updates. We are all used to keyboard controls.

Well, I tested mouse control and then I came back to keyboard. BUT I have the well known issue with targeting with shaft, plus another one. When I m moving my wasp backwards right  and simultaneously turn my turret left, the turret stucks only to the first direction and doesn't go to the other direction until I stop my wasp. It seems that the right direction key does damage the z key. I have changed 3 keyboards, all the same. Firefox with updated flash player. Am I the only one?
