Mouse controls and changes in auto-aim mechanism

Not a big fan of the mouse controls. They seem to be quite buggy, so I think I'll stick to keyboard for now.

Something to remember: the mouse controls are optional, and they're disabled by default. If it's glitching out for you or you dislike it, you can go straight back to using the good ol' keyboard controls.

That hasn't always been the case. Remember when they first pushed out the system that ends battles earlier and it didn't work well at all? They removed it from the game for tweaking. If this update pans out badly, there's a possibility that they might pull it back to fix the issues.

i have it turned off and it is causing problems for shaft scope.... not 100% of the time but enough

There is one even bigger problem than that... I'm running multiple browsers,

and currently ONLY Mozilla Firefox allows the mouse controls option, on

Google Chrome, Opera and even Internet Explorer the Mouse Controls

option isn't available... no it isn't grayed out... IT DOESN'T EXIST in

the options meny... It's not supposed to appear as an option in Chrome or IE. I think there's a technical reason for this. The announcement states that it should work in Opera too, but if it indeed doesn't work, the dev team has some fixing to do.

Like I just said, on ANY other browser than Mozilla the option doesn't seem

to exist, so we can't try it elsewhere even if we wanted to... and even as a

non-existant option it STILL causes the problems listed above... I haven't encountered any of the problems that you've listed, but then again I use Firefox. Let's hope the devs can fix the problems you're encountering, then.

something tells me that mouse users will have an advantage over keyboard users..

If the feedback on this thread is any indication, I don't think mouse users will have any advantage over keyboard users anytime soon.

Not really, the aiming is gridlocked, meaning you need to point the turret in the

general horizontal direction of the enemy so the shot would register as an impact,

the vertical vector is automatic and depends on how distant you are from the target.

The only difference would be when using the Shaft, but we'll see about that once

these freakin bugs are resolved...

The only way mouse has the advantage is that you can spin the view 360 degrees

instantly, to survey the battlefield and wait for the turret to catch up on your current

POV, other than that the keyboard has the advantage... more convenient and

smoother management...

PS EDIT: Thanks for the responce Penguin...

Honestly, developers should think about switching to an independant launcher

once Tanki Online hits the Unity transition. Other simpler games relying on the

Unity engine have done it, so why would Tanki be forced to remain a browser

game when there are clearly more advantages as an independant application?

It is inconvenient when we have to think about which browser supports which

game in which way better...

So far the developers seem to be favoring Mozilla for some reason. It would

be a good thing to know that reason, it would make this discussion much

easier...

If there is an update on the mouse control a sight or scope might be cool.  :) B)

You haven't even tried the mouse control, haven't you, that's

already implemented.

Just for the sake of curiosity, I tried running Tanki Online on

Firefox, even though I run it on Chrome eversince I joined.

Works quite smoothly, I still have to test out the Isida to

see how it holds up.

So in short, maybe someone should plaster a notification

on the forum that it's strongly advised to use Mozilla Firefox

while playing Tanki Online, because it's best suited for it

codewise...

Is this why since yesterday my shaft consistently hits off-target ? For a long-distance shot, I now have to aim above and to the left of the target, and I can hope it hits.

Close-up, if I shoot at a tanks turrent, I hit the hull.

But since you often can't aim properly, I'm missing a lot more than before :-(

I don't like this update at all

I use a shaft

My turret is spinning without my control.

As soon as I enter the game, my turret starts spinning.

After I've been killed and spawn, my turret starts spinning

In both cases, I need to turn the turret the other way and get it under control before I can engage the scope and take aim at someone.  In the time it takes to do this, I am getting hit by my opponents.

Also, the scope starts tracking upwards without my control.

again, I have to track the scope downwards to get it under control,

wasting more time, not being able to target an opponent.

Please remove this update.

Exactly the same as I am having.

Actually I feel that Isida update is good.

The mouse controls are of actually no use.

We can play with our keyboard controls as they are good enough.

Try to improve other turrets like firebird or freeze.

They have bee  left untouched.

First of all, I can't believe how many downvotes there are for this update  Many people are already imprinted on using the keyboard. Why do a sudden change and allow mouse controls? Also, I can't even figure out how to enable mouse controls. When I checked my settings, nothing changed. Just the regualr everyday settings. But it's true, I bet lots of these newbies coming in will use these mouse controls. Well all I could say is good luck to them

Oh yeah, talking about that... I was crazy! I had the same problem as you and I thought is was my computer's fault and I was also using shaft. I thought it was lag but I checked my Ping and FPS and tankers were just moving normally... Now I understand the problem that I was having.

First of all, the improved aiming for enemies over large distances is very noticeable, made a huge change in my Rail gameplay, although most tanks I still missed due to horrible aiming 2jg5oig.gif

I don't use Isida, but from what I've seen the actual gameplay isn't much changed, although on the aesthetics level it's simply hilarious.

With the bug and glitches fixed and mouse controls enabled for Chrome and Safari, I feel this update will be pretty useful, whether for hardcore mouse-ing or the occasional check-behind-your-back mouse usage.

This mouse control update is not working. If you are using Shaft it is a nightmare. Took me awhile and a lot of cursing to figure out what was going on - my Shaft in scope mode would go into the ground or into the sky or start spinning around for no reason. Also, Please consider removing the red beam from Shaft as well it has become something of an obsolete weapon now yet it is still one of the most expensive to MU. Please consider the faint white beam for Shaft in full power scope mode and no beam at all in tap mode.

I just stopped using Shaft today - I haven't tried using Vulcan after reading some of the accounts in this Forum regarding the mouse control update problems.

Mouse Controls:

GREAT, mouse controls still have two gaping problems.

1) Turrets being desynced from mouse

I have a DPI toggler, and I can adjust the DPI, so I can set my mouse to 2500 DPI. Because y'know FPS's are teh rage and all these days. The turret is literally rotated by an individual stat...This means you need to make your DPI really low or tryhard for a sweet spot.

2) Turret-based camera

The camera in mouse mode focuses on the turret, but movement is FAR MORE IMPORTANT, which is why keyboard controls are far superior to the mouse. Do I really need to explain this?

I do like how mouse controls in window was removed, however. That was absolutely horrid. Mouse controls are still bad.

Isida update: You realize something went wrong when I don't give a [care] about Isida and I can realize its effectiveness has gone down dramatically simply by looking at the Gameplay section.

I found the mouse controls very cumbersome. Was something different for me? But the mouse only moves the turret and I use the right hand for my mouse, so it is switching hands. No way I can make that change. But I can not use them and so that is ok, did not figure I was going to use them. One of the big things I liked about Tanki was that it just used a keyboard.

The changes to Isida are big for me. I hope that was just some bug or unintended consequence, but in maps like Noise while sitting on a ramp I could not hit anyone on the top until I actually went completely over the top and faced them.  While they shoot me the whole time I am rising up. If this is left the way it is it renders the Isida next to useless. Visually it is also different and kinda weird. It seems to flow all across the entire tank. I guess that is the new auto aim that is adjusting the places it strikes.

The new update has ruined shaft and gameplay for all shaft players. the turret keeps rotating by itself or turning in a particular direction when in snipe and itherwise. it makes it impossible to play using this turret. when in snipe, the crosshair starts automatically moving upwards. the new update has been disastrous and i hope tanki will do something

2. Sorry for some browsers not supporting the feature, but it's not up to us. Architecture of Chrome and Safari doesn't allow for this mechanism to work there. We hope they will fix that soon. For now, use Firefox (which is the best browser for Tanki btw)

yeah, right, blame Apple and Safari / Firefox. LOL... you never guilty for mistakes?!?! think again and find where you made your mistake in developing this not so usefull control.

before this update mouse control WORKs in Apple Safari. with one trick works now but you must reload page and use User Agent for Firefox-Windows (Develop menu / User Agent). Now you have Mouse control button in Settings. Problem is... Firefox (Gecko) for Mac DONT WORK WITH TANKI becouse when you load battle page LINKs FLASHING and you cant choose battle!! Same thing if you reload page with Firefox-Mac or use SeaMonkey (also Gecko browser).

p.s. never tried Chrome and dont use becouse this is most stupidest browser ever and he has his own Flash plugin!!!
