Mouse controls and changes in auto-aim mechanism

@Canadian_Eh

I don't think the devs are that ignorant to see all these complaints go over their heads.

Hazel is just collecting feedback from those where mouse controls actually work.

I'm sure they're hard at work to fix everything. There is also major uproar and disapproval in the Russian community too, with the original post having 226 down votes.

No disrespect to you, but MAYBE they should have said something to that effect a long time ago. Instead of waiting for 3 days for you to speak for them. Like I said their customer support is terrible. The fact remains that whatever changes they have made have negatively affected game play even with mouse controls off. Hazel claims that some of this will be fixed in the next release, but when will that be and how many players will leave for good, new and old?

To Canadian_Eh :)

He start to sound as a forum ghost.

We know about technical issues and fixes are scheduled to next release. Flash becomes less and less supported, this is why we released mouse controls turned off by default. But he seems to hate developers with the passion I guess...

Removing at least could solute problems and give a time, is this wrong?

If any of you guys (eg. Canadian_Eh) want I could offer to help fix it through a Skype call. If so, PM me your Skype id

Thanks but I have no desire to use the mouse controls for now. I'm right handed and use my right hand for driving my tank. I also don't use shaft much anymore since the laser was added. I used to think of it as a sniper weapon but a sniper would not use a laser. It gives away your position.

Removing Code is not an easy task. Fixing bugs is always better, sad but true.

Do you not find it strange that there are now 35 pages of negative complaints and the only thing you or anyone else from your team have to say is "Are you left-handed..." We as players and buyers expect answers to our questions and resolution to the problems we complain about.

Not really. The problems are obvious and will be fixed asap. Having all the players with the problem responded in this topic is not something we encounter for the first time.

Also, if you have read the topic carefully you might have seen Semyon already answered that bugs will be fixed shortly. But players commonly do not read entire topic. You can't post an answer to every comment when flood gates are open. You better go fix some bugs.

Is it possible to release updates to only certain servers? I don't mean the test servers, I mean regular severs. This way the update could be tested in real world environment but not effect all servers.

Not possible.

Testing was hard for this one. Actually the update was postponed for two week due to bug hunting. Problem is not with mouse controls itself, problem with Flash technology. It wasn't expected to be that unstable.

I also use my right hand for controlling the tank, I seriously doubt that using WASD for driving causes these glitches

For the past few months I have underrated Shaft, because it was nerfed so badly after the rebalance. Sure, it is a lot weaker than previously, but as my gameplay shows, even after not playing Tanki for months I was still able to dominate with Shaft. As for the laser, it isn't as bad as you think. If they notice it, they might hide but they won't hide forever. And if you want to have a high KDR by camping and you think that the laser will make you easy to spot, remember that in other games you get a kill-cam when you die: you get to see the player that killed you and note where he is.

If it not possible at this time could it be made possible or do you think it is a bad idea. It may help with testing. Kinda like beta or RC testing. Better to catch the bugs before they make it to the game instead of fixing them after. Don't you think so?

I just don't want to use WASD for steering or the mouse in my left hand.  I agree with what you say about shaft, I just don't like it as much.

You may think so, but you will never ever be able to find every bug with testing. You can minimize it, and I tell you we fixed a lot of them during this two weeks, but you will never catch them all.

Just imagine how complex this update truly was? It is suppose to work both with and without keyboard controls, we couldn't use settings menu to switch control scheme, controls should work obviously for everybody, the cursor have to appear whenever player need it and... well... From the design point of view I could hardly improve it further without real feedback from live gameplay. From the code point of view Flash giving up on us :(

Well, for me so far this new "feature" is only a capitalized FAIL. The setting does not appear in Firefox. And I faced an isue I have never did before: stucking keys: with Shaft it is impossible to aim now since it moves up or down by itself and you can only stop it moving with the opposite key, and sometimes my turrent starts spinning around on its own. So I tried Standalone Flash Player, only to face the same issues. However, the option appeared, so I gladly turned it on. I shouldn't have done it because from that point I was unable to move the turrent with any key, not mentioning the mouse control.

This needs a tons of working. I think the developers shouldn't have released this in this status of development, maybe only for the test server, because this is barely even in beta status. Or if it is, well, then I am really afraid of this game's future.

Yes, it will be nice once Tanki moves away from Flash. I suspect the interaction with hardware and browser makes all this very difficult.

I appreciate your hard work and know sometimes squashing bugs can be difficult. Sometimes bugs show up once something is released into the real world and more exposure to different setups allows for these things to become apparent.

I do appreciate the mouse controls and hope it gets resolved. It makes a huge difference for me personally in things I can now do that were not possible just with the keyboard.

Hello

Video is published and can be viewed here:

Read the description for info such as how to activate mouse controls and my specs. On the top right corner is the recording of my hand controlling the mouse.

Is that mouse the Roccat Kova+?

I think we have the same mouse.  ^_^

You don't have source control? This update is SO BAD, hard to find words to describe it. I mean, how could you screw up so bad, even if screwing up is what you were aiming for.

My shaft scope keeps aiming up left after the last update (the one with mouse control). I tried everything and still looking for birds in the trees. WHEN DO YOU FIX IT????????
