Mouse controls and changes in auto-aim mechanism

Laptop keys (1/4 to zero travel) can actually be 2 msec slower than a tactile-response keyboard if you have to hold them down (as I often do). I don't have to hold my keys down, but with the USB keyboards, I usually do :D

Besides, your reaction time is much slower than that...

However, I grant that the WASD keys might be easier to use than the smaller buttons found on some HP keyboards (not sure why they need such a huge DELETE button -- that could be a problem because of the self destruct). My arrow keys are just fine for me, and since I have a Mac, I don't have that square DELETE button. The one I have doesn't work, so I need to do ctrl+\

I think the laptop keyboards you've used are different from the ones I've used, and same for USB keyboards :lol:

It seems that a little better.

Just this very slow and is locked sometimes.

Shaft was obsolete before this update full of bugs

I'll wait a little longer to see if it's worth playing again Tanki

A little humor

POG - Programação Orientada a Gambiarra

OPK - Oriented Programming to Kludge

Example of programming method:

#include <stdio.h>

int main (void) {

    int i;

    for (i=0; i<5; i++) {

        printf("Hello world!");

    }

    return 0;

}

Tanki Method:

#include <stdio.h>

int main (void) {

    printf("Hello world!");

    printf("Hello world!");

    printf("Hello world!");

    printf("Hello world!");

    printf("Hello world!");

    return 0;

}

Shaft still has going into scope mode issues. There is a second delay when you first go into scope mode. You can not move your turret. The scope does not move when tracking a tank. The scope is ridged in performance. Some times you have to hit your space bar quickly twice to go into scope mode. It even randomly locks up.

Not complaining just getting back to you like you asked.

^^^THIS! you have any idea how many shots I've missed because of this sniping delay?! **GRRR** + sometimes when you respawn your shaft and you are holding down some button and then let go (not sure which yet), your shaft turrent keeps rotating in one direction nonstop. you have to hit ZXC many times until it stops the insanity.

ALSO, after you fix all these shaft bugs that you created and made us suffer for, for weeks, please give us some kind of bonus for shaft users... maybe two weeks of 1/4 more power or something , or turrent spins twice as fast for 2 weeks for all shafts. Use your imagination. We deserve some compensation for being SHAFTED for so long!

I've detailed before some issues I found with new shaft keyboard controls, but tried anyway to adapt myself to the new personality of keyboard controls. I tried, but the delay before the aim can be controlled is a serious handicap to dynamic shaft play. Those 500 milliseconds that your aim stand still is an eternity in high ranks battles, specially when your target is on higher or lower terrain. Your tank feels slow, unresponsive, lagging the action the in battle... because your tank *is* slow, lagging the action in the battle :)

If shaft needs to be nerfed (for whatever reason) please do not make it unresponsive as that only will make the turret unpleasant to play. Maybe  decrease traverse speed or such, but please keep keyboard controls smooth...

Cool, the "aim moving by itself" shaft bug has been fixed :)

But I noted another issues when using shaft with keyboard controls (I disabled mouse controls from options):

1. When entering scope mode, cross hair cannot be controlled until zoom in animation has ended.

This has been reported also by other players as "sluggish controls".

Steps to reproduce:

1. Press space to enter scope mode.

2. Quickly press right arrow, before zoom in animation ends.

Expected outcome: Cross hair starts immediately to move to right.

Actual outcome: Cross hair starts to move only after zoom in animation ended.

2. Diagonal cross hair movements are not possible right after entering scope mode.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Press space to enter scope mode.

2. Quickly press up arrow and right arrow, before zoom in animation ends.

Expected outcome: Cross hair starts immediately to move in diagonal up-right direction.

Actual outcome: Cross hair starts to move (after zoom in animation ended) either up or right, but not in diagonal.

Note that this is not a keyboard controller issue, that can be verified pressing up and right arrows at the same time after zoom in animation ended, which results in correct diagonal aim movement as expected.

3. Turret rotation "stuck" just after firing.

1. Press space to enter scope mode, and wait to full charge.

2. Release space to fire.

3. Very (very) quickly press "Z" and down arrow, before zoom out animation ends.

Expected outcome: Tank start moving backwards, while rotating turret to the left.

Actual outcome: Tank start moving backwards, but turret does not rotate.

---

Problems arise when scope mode does not recognize keys pressed before zoom in animation, or when main game does not recognize keys pressed inside scope mode. But in fast paced battles, having to wait for the right moment to press control keys is really annoying... It would be nice if both game and scope acted based on actual state of keys, ignoring the timing or order of each key press.

This is working players...

This is working players...

Still that spinning when some random key is hit, especially when coming out of sniping or respawning. I need to get off a shot and the turret starts spinning uncontrollably. This cannot be a *random glitch* since it happens with regularity to a known number of Shaft and other players.

These mouse controls will attract maybe 10% new players, of which half will leave without contributing anything to the game.

Well, you've gotten your last nickel from me too. I'll just play free until I can't be effective any more, then goodbye and on to a better, smarter tank game with some semblance of quality control.

No it is not. Press right arrow to rotate tank, then press space while keeping pressed right arrow still. Scope stand motionless now, it used to move immediately to right before (even before zoom in animation ended). The changes are very subtle, but very noticeable (and detrimental) for those who use shaft in a dynamic way and choose targets before entering scope mode, or quickly move tank before or after firing.

It almost seems like "someone" does like shaft and is crippling it on propose. First they add lasers, then they blocked access to prime sniping location on some maps, and now messed up the controls. Why don't they just remove already be done with it? This is like ripping off a band-aid in slow motion.

If devs won't solve the problem, they should add something...

Prime.... 1 example is on Serpuhov, they added barriers to prevent players from going around behind the blue base and they added some to prevent access to the area to the far left of the red base. Many shaft players know the ones I refer to. They claim it was to prevent shaft players from camping in those spots. Well shaft is Tanki's equivalent of a sniper, and snipers camp and certainly don't use laser sights to reveal their hidden location. My logic is fix it or remove it, because it sucks the way it is now.

Okay, now someone has been tweaking things for sure with Isida:

at Rio, we had a green Isida beam going 40 meters through buildings!

Is someone trying to make it less likely to change targets? Because this was ridiculous.

Video:

Look at some of the Isida beams here! (0:00 and 2:10) -- very colorful but still a serious glitch.

I had to play for both teams to get this to show.
