Suggestions for the Upcoming Unity-based Tanki Online

Recommended Posts

A unique name doesn't necessarily mean it has to be entirely different without the trademark Tanki Online. Most games use the official name and add a unique tag to it when naming new releases of their game.

I did suggest a few names in another topic and here they are again: Tanki Online Pro, Tanki Online Ultra, Tanki Online AV (Advanced Version), Tanki Online PR (Premium Release).

Maybe TO can hold a contest for the new game's name and the winners will get Early Access codes.

I can come up with other names even without Tanki Online in them, but won't waste much time on it unless it's official.

I think they have already done that.

They removed the word ONLINE and added the words THE NEW.

So, instead of TANKI ONLINE (TO) there will be THE NEW TANKI (TNT)

I strongly agree to your points as the first one is what i think should be done although many players are against it. if its a new start the low rankers will be able to compete past gissimos in ranking but the premium features are not good anyway except the special customization and yea its will be pretty good to be able to get your tank your own style. Nice work buddy  ;)

I am never going to start again! Not again! It took me 4 months to get back to my old level after that dumbass hacker changed my account password.

........Although having reworked maps and more large ones is good.....

....But making people pay for a better account is bloody awful! Tanki would be a pay to play game for people who had money and the money it gave the players would give them a huge advantage.

10. Achievement Trophies/Medals: TO can award distinguished players with unique trophies or medals that will be displayed on the player's profile page. The trophies should be for special achievements or milestones, examples:

  • Veteran: A player who has completed a total number of 10,000 battles or more.
  • Invincible: A player with an accumulative win rate above 95% after completing a certain number of battles, say 500.
  • Audacious: A player who has captured a total of 10,000 flags or more, not on empty arenas though.
  • Iron Fist: A player who has all the hulls and turrets at the maximum power grade (M4, currently).
  • Patron: A player who has spent more than $500 in total.
  • Partisan: A player who has distinguishably helped run or improve the game; like Helpers of the Project and other eminent contributors on the forums. Note: the first player to receive this trophy should be PuncherTank. ;)

Okay for Unity tanki?

System requirements for Unity version

Processor: Intel Core i3.

RAM: 4 Gigabytes of RAM.

Graphics: Intel HD graphics 4000.

OS: Windows, Mac, Linux, Andriod, and iOS.

With these specifications, you should receive a stable 40 frames per second in a full 10 versus 10 battle.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You will be able to play Unity version. Maybe not at 40 frames, but yes you can play Unity even with that GPU

My Windows Experience Index is 5,3.

Will my laptop work ? Since I got lower graphics...

I think not... Now, on Flash, I play only with "Dynamic lighting" and "Shadow under tank". If I put "Show skybox", "Fog", "Dynamic shadows" or anything else, I lagg like hell...

First, do not take Windows Experience Index for serious

Your CPU and your amount of RAM memory is realy fine. And about GPU, Intel HD graphics 3000 is yes a bit slower than 4000. But you will not lag in Unity.

Also that lag you have in Flash is probably software based.

1.) Precipitation (active weather conditions beyond simply having a snow map or a night map).

2.) A forum button in the future battle/chat screen equivalent. My very highly educated guess is that the forum is viewed by such a small percentage of the Tanki community because it is not well advertised beyond the occasional announcement blip.

3.) Keep the Gold Boxes! If you remove them, you remove over half the reason I play this game.

4.) A "remember my preferences" option so I don't have to keep disabling the skybox each time I log in.

5.) A built-in recording program that will allow the tanker to video those thrilling battles... and report saboteurs without having to buy and download software.

6.) A chat box filter that detects when a player asks for the Gold Box to be dropped. Upon detection, a giant hammer pops out of the screen and bashes him on the noggin.

7.) Failing that, at least make the warning system able to detect and penalize players who repeat that line as it can be considered flooding or spamming.

The problem is on Tanki's side. I've also have been getting crappy performance and many lags lately. They used to tell players it's a PC issue, but they've finally admitted the problem is on their end. Remember the dread "Fatal Error"? It was all (and still is) from Tanki's end. This has been going on for weeks, months and years! It just shows how much TO care about their players!

Hopefully this gets fixed in a month or a year or maybe more, who cares?! Maybe they will start caring if half the players leave the game, but hasn't that happened already or I'm just imagining things?!

Here's my feedback on your ideas(marked in green)

My Suggestions (some of these have been suggested before)

1. Everyone Starts Fresh: Players should not be able to transfer their garage to the new Unity version. Everyone should start from the bottom and work their way up through the ranks. If I joined as a Generalissimo with m3/m4 equipment, this will leave little to look forward to.

Note: Each player registered in the current version will have the exclusive right to claim the same nickname in the Unity version - this exclusive right can last for a certain period of time after the Unity version goes live.

Whilst you may want to relive Private-ship in Unity by suggesting that the only usernames can be transferred, many others may disagree. After all, they grinded in front of the computer for four years straight and probably spent a wad of cash doing so. Why spend another four years and another fifty bucks playing the souped-up version of the game from square one? Development is tinkering around with the economy, and they say that the fate of account transferring is decided by that factor, and that factor only.

2. All Maps Should Be Brand New: Lack of diversity in battle arenas is already a huge off-putting problem, and offering the same popular maps - like Polygon, Silence, Sandbox, etc. - will only promote the recreating of the problem. Unity TO should offer a fresh experience, and those who wish to play on Island, Polygon and other commonplace maps will still be able to do so in this (flash) version of TO.

3. More Large Maps: Large maps are a lot of fun to play and you can go for a few hours straight on the same map without getting bored. Unfortunately, large maps are currently underrated in the game in favor of small/medium maps. The Unity TO should focus more on large maps, I'd be very excited (and I'm sure many other players would agree) to play very large maps; like 2-4 times the size of Lost Temple. I hope we won't see another Island or Sandbox in the new TO.

4. Improved Fund Growth and Distribution: All maps and battle modes should be fairly equally efficient in terms of fund increase and experience point gain (progression). The current fund and progression systems are flawed and they favor certain small/medium maps where there's a lot more, fast-paced action. I did make some suggestions to improve this; see this topic for improved fund growth in large maps, and this for improved fund distribution.

2,3 & 4:

Agreed. Underdiversity in maps is a problem; you rarely see more than ten discreet maps on an English server. (I don't know anything about the russian ones; I've never logged on to those) One of the reasons is that smaller maps tend to have fast-growing cash pools, and you gain more experience on average. As an anecdote, I played a 15-minute Polygon CP match, and its fund was similar to that of a 60-minute match in Magistrate. I'm not implying that Polygon matches have pools that grow 4 times faster than everything else, but the imbalance needs addressing, so that we have funds that grow at a similar speed, regardless of the map.

5. Nerfed Supplies: No need to explain how supplies can make it miserable for the non-buyer players here. Supplies currently give too much power to druggers beyond any skill can balance, for example a hornet m3 that uses double armor then repair kit will have 4 times the health points of a non-drugging hornet m3 - this is crazy! Instead of 100%, supplies should provide a more reasonable advantage, like 30%. Also, supplies should be more expensive to encourage wise use - no more "lots of supplies" for cheap. This way all battles can be supply-enabled and there will be no need for PRO no-supply battles.

Yep. We need something like this to happen. Whilst getting a load of supplies without learning what Z,X and C do isn't going to get you very far, supplies are usually potent enough to override an opponents edge in terms of technical skill and strategy. They're broken. IMO, the developers made them this OP because they wanted players to be able to turn the tables in a losing game, but reckless usage is detrimental to gameplay. IMO (again), the bonuses supplies provide should vary according to how well you're doing.

However, omission of "classic" maps wouldn't be a great idea, as they often provide the most action. From my point of view, supplying Unity with a selection of obscure maps before adding in the classics would be better.

And yes. I would like to drive around in something the size of Hong Kong.

6. Smart Battle Limits: Battle limits should be more skill-based than strictly rank-based to have better balanced teams. A new skill ranking system can be developed to take different variables into consideration; like player's win rate, equipment grade, supply inventory and the player's rank.

Like ELO scores? Groovy!

7. No Gold Boxes: The Gold Box is a cool feature of this game, but sadly it encourages mults and gold hunters who only camp somewhere safe and wait for the Gold Box without really engaging in the battle or helping their teammates. And don't you just hate it when you're actively engaged in combat and suddenly half of your teammates leave after a Gold Box has dropped?! Gameplay will be better without the Gold Box.

No. Please, no. People are going to lose the will to play (usually 50% minimum).

8. Equipment Customization: This will be a decent revenue generator for the game without affecting gameplay. Many custom items can be available for purchase including: stickers, head/tail lights, special engine sound - like a Lamborghini B) (only audible to the driver), decorative modules, etc.

9. Public Player Profile and Achievement Stats: Each player should have his/her own game profile page that can be publicly viewed by anyone. The profile page can include an avatar and some stats about the player; like join date, rank, total number of battles complemented (broken down into different modes; CTF, CP, TDM and DM), accumulative win rate (broken down into different modes), skill rating, clan membership (if any), friends list, special achievements/milestones, etc.

Semyon Kirov claims that it'll roll out soon. As for what "soon" means, don't ask me.

Note: the first player to receive this trophy should be PuncherTank. ;)

I think this feature's in the works.

11. Premium Accounts: This would be the main income generator for the game. Premium status can be purchased for a monthly subscription fee, and it gives certain benefits to the player without having a negative impact on gameplay for other free players. Such benefits may include:

  • Increased rewards in battles: Premium players will have their rewards in battles boosted by a certain percentage, for example 25% more than a free player would get.
  • Faster progression: Premium players will progress/rank up significantly faster than free players.
  • Special customization: Some custom items can only be available to premium players, like gold coating for turrets. These custom items will be available for free, but will only last as long as the premium status is maintained.
  • Customized profile page: Premium players will have more options to personalize their profile page; like adding a background, photos, videos, etc.
  • Highlighted battles: Premium players will be able to create battles with custom titles.
  • Special kits: anything except "lots of supplies".
  • Spectator mode.

Same as the previous two ones.
