Star Series Season 3 Finals - Day 4

In the beginning of the first round on Barda opponents took each other's flags and after eight minutes of trying, ALL IN finally managed to return their flag, but the flagholder's Hunter was not fast enough to capture the enemy flag.  A similar thing happened in the second round - no captures after 2 full rounds.

The third in Forest was completely 1-sided with ARCADE capturing a whopping 6 flags, losing none in the process.  The fourth round began in similar fashion to the previous with ARCADE getting early flags, but ALL IN pulled a major come back and tied the score 4:4.

With the great momentum ALL IN went on to win the fifth round on Red Alert.  But ARCADE had the final laugh upon winning the sixth round, securing at least a Bronze Paint with possibility of even more, while ALL IN exits the tournament with only 4th place consolation prize of $4000.

Final Score:-  ARCADE  2 : 1  ALL IN

Match breakdown  :   @Shalamer's  analysis

This was what many started to call the “redemption” game as the match would determine which team deserves a second chance.

Round 1 started off in Barda, with ARCADE on the Blue side deciding to play with a more defensive setup, with 3 Hunters and 2 players with Digital paint, not something one often sees in an ARCADE line-up.  On the other side ALL IN too had similar safe-game attitude with at least 3 players on the defensive at all times.  With that neither team was able to carry a flag away more than a few meters.  In minute 3 both teams snatched the flag and for the rest of the match would attempt to return and cap, but neither team was able to do so successfully. In essence, the match was extremely slow paced with players from both teams constantly flipping, and, at one point, ALL IN’s Oskar lagged out and fell into a hole.  Definitely not the way to start a match that would determine the fates of the teams.

Round 2 was, unfortunately, just as slow paced, with both teams placing more emphasis on defense.  ARCADE showed a little more of their aggressive side, but not enough to make a significant difference.  UDJIK and his legendary Wasp skills were able to create quite a few exciting moments.  ALL IN created some interesting moments as well, however, the team was not able to control the drops as well as their opponents. ARCADE’s conference was disorganized and, shockingly, panicky, which is not the ARCADE we are accustomed to.  No one seemed to know what either team was waiting for.

Round 3 was played on Forest, a map that ARCADE has rarely, if ever, had a match in any of the star series.  If round 1 and 2 were slow paced, round 3 was anything but that!  ARCADE starts off with 1 Hunter and 2 Wasps, whereas ALL IN decides to go all-Hornet.  ARCADE takes the first flag within the first 30 seconds, and caps within the minute.  ALL IN has a couple of attempts at snatching the enemy flag, but to no avail. UDJIK’s Wasp begins to really come into play here, and after the third flag, we finally get a glimpse of the dominating, aggressive gameplay that has become so characteristic of the team. Pard, especially, on Hunter was able to keep the ALL IN attackers at bay on multiple occasions, with perfect timing and well-aimed shots. The final score was 6-0, which meant that ALL IN was also in a morally unstable state for the next round.

Round 4:  Yet another fast paced match with flags being taken and captured from all sides this time.  ARCADE dominates at first, with a 4-2 lead.  ARCADE’s communication is now more organized and well-rounded with no hyperactivity or panic going on.  Shockingly, nonetheless, during the last minute of the match, in a series of organized and well-timed attacks ALL IN manages to capture two more flags and tie the score 4-4 in what was by far the most intense last minutes of a game ever, capping the fourth flag on the very last second !

Round 5:  Red Alert is usually a map dominated by ARCADE, however, ARCADE was not able to control the drops as much as their opponents were, which resulted in an unexpected round loss as a result. The first few minutes commenced with the classic bombarding from ARCADE, who was playing on the blue side, and they managed to capture the first two flags in the first couple of minutes.  When trying to attack after that, ALL IN’s defense was so intense that ARCADE was not able to capture a single flag for the rest of the game.  Of note was Oskar whose defense gave his team the opportunity to make quite a few successful attacks, and also ended up on the top of the scoreboard.  In the conference, ALL IN had excellent focus and concentration, as well as a calm atmosphere which created a winning environment.  The round ended with the score of 3-2 in favour of ALL IN.

Round 6: A round worthy of the final! Both teams understood what needed to be done and both teams were doing everything in their power to win the round. Interesting to note is that no player from any team really stood out in this round. The teamwork on both sides was outstanding, and when we listened to the conferences, the teams were communicating effectively with excellent coordination.  ARCADE begins with furiously attacking the red base and successfully manages to capture the first flag.  ALL IN is able to catch up with the score.  Ultimately, however, ARCADE prevailed with a score of 3-1 in the round, and a final score of 2 – 1 in the match, with a chance to battle it out for a place in the superfinal against PSYCHOS, the very team that knocked them into the loser’s bracket in the first place!

Overall, both teams did an incredible job with coordination and teamwork, but in the end, after 80 long minutes of play ALL IN cracked on the last round and exits with the the consolation prize, while ARCADE now have some immense preparation work both physically and mentally and will most likely be reviewing the tape of their previous encounter against PSYCHOS and ensure they close all tactical flaws this time
