Open testing of changes in balance!

To all those who think that Smoky has become broken:

1dwFsUH.jpgI joined halfway through, with that ping, not being adjusted to the high speeds, and managed that score. I should also note I do not have very high skills, and some people in that battle did. Broken? Me thinks not.

My thoughts:

 

Smoky is a lot weaker than it should be You should either add back some of the critical damage or increase the base damage further- it takes forever to kill a Viking.

 

The reduction in Hammer spread is quite nice. Keep it in.

 

Railgun reloads a bit too quickly right now. Tone it back a little.

 

The Thunder changes are actually pretty good, but it's pretty terrible against enemies with protective paints since the reload is a lot slower.

 

The other changes seem to be tolerable- I'll test against later, when the server isn't as laggy.

One small itsy problem..I randomly self-destruct like, if I get stuck in a weird corner or glitch in a tank. (Im not a hacker)

Also, I LOVE FREEZE.

Also, off-topic, you need to do SOMETHING so that certain maps don't get played..All..The...Time.... Like, large maps are Extinct.

Serious, besides like a select few..Think of a way to spread the popularity of maps.

Anyone have ideas on how?

Shaft should get an increase in damage with "out of scope mode" and "in scope mode". Because the HP on the Heavy hulls received increases two updates ago.  B) 

 

Firebird should not decrease damage due to the heavy hull HP increases two updates ago.

 

An increase in Turrets damage should be increased due to the increase in hp with Heavy Hulls.

Here's a problem I noticed: Sometimes, with my Hunter, when I accidentally run into one of the slanted walls at an angle, I just self-destruct. Are you testing the new system to prevent cheaters too? If so, you may want to work on it because I am sure it would be more easily set off by a hornet of wasp.

Lol, when I tried Fire M4 with Viking m4 in polygon cp, I got 'foul play disconnected'... Not sure why through. I do know I was killing fast.

 

Rail has become dangerous with DD, plus reload faster. 1 shot with it enough to KO a hunter M4 without protection. Or maybe I suck with dealing with rails.

 

Smoky is okay for me, but Rico, along with fire has a place in my future garage list.

 

So my main question is: Is Smoky underpowered?

 

Looks like polygon CP will have some intensive competition.

Comments, in chronological order:

 

Wow, I got DCed for foul play by ramming onto a tank.

 

Flyhacker didn't SD...

 

DCed for running off a ramp.

 

DCed for several stupid reasons.

 

Balance is not game breaking against light hulls, luckily.

 

This update isn't bad, BUT WHYYY did you have to change the weights? The only thing that kept Viking from being OP

Vulcan took a huge hit. Not only does it have more self-destruction, it also now has 25% instead of 50% minimum damage. In other words, it now deals half as much damage at long ranges. As a Vulcan user, I agree with this update -- Vulcan really was OP. Just means I'll have to re-learn the weapon and use it differently -- maybe with lighter hulls.

Alot of false positives today on the test server with the ant-icheat system i kill 10 tanks with 0 lost i get either foul play or self destruct.

Jump on another tank due to impact force gives me instant self destruct.

Battles on Test Server barely counts, many people there are just messing around with stuff they can't buy on real server, some are trying hard with Turrets they don't have much skill it.

 

From overall changes on Smoky it just got nerfed, the mediocre increase of DMG on regular shots doesnt compesate for the big nerf on Critical damage.

 

And did Smoky need a nerf? Not really, it has been a average turret at best, if any changes had to be made was to make it better not worse.

These people weren't messing around? Didn't you read? I said they all had lots of skill, and more than me. 

 

The low increase of normal damage does in fact make up for it, because these normal shots occur way more often than critical hits.

 

It wasn't really a nerf. Now it takes less shots to take out any hull. Now I might actually start using my M1 Smoky which has been collecting dust for a while.

The low increase does not, do the calcs yourself.

 

Lets say from roughly every 6 shots, smoky does a critical hit(that would be roughly 16% chance).

New Smoky:

52*5=260

Critical hit=72

260+72=332

 

Old Smoky:

44*5=220

Critical hit=120

220+120=340

 

Also Smoky damage got even more nerfed from distance, % from min damage went from 30 to 10, thats a big hit.

For Smoky on test server, it needs its range back and either a bigger buff on regular damage or a buff on Critical damage(which is better I would say, critical is what keeps Smoky different from Thunder the most)
