Offline players still in battle

 Share

Recommended Posts

I noticed that often after a player quits a battle, their name still appears in the public battle info section for quite some time. Refer to my screenshot attached which shows a friend who is clearly offline n left at the end of the last round of the battle shown, is apparently still blocking players from joining the blue side. The next round of battle has already progressed by 2.5 minutes. Why does this happen? A lot of battle outcomes get decided in the first few minutes of the game. This glitch makes it hard to choose good battles to go into.

Other info-

Steps to recreate the issue would be to complete a round of battle with a friend at the end of which, your friend logs off. You can then observe your friends status on the friends page and the battle info section for the next round of battle.

I play tanki on google chrome on my dell xps laptop with corei7, 8GB RAM & win7. I play using wired net connection (30Mbps download speed).

It happens when someone, on any side, closes his browser/standalone directly; i.e. without leaving the battle first and then hitting X button of his browser/standalone. This ends up in that player to stay in the battle in pause mode. Luckily the pause mode lasts precisely 5 minutes. After the time has passed, the player would be automatically kicked out from the battle and the place(s) will be free again.

The tanks of such players are not necessarily shown in-game. Just as that of someone being in Pause mode; after destroying that tank, it is not shown in the battle.

Normally the player isn't shown in the battle for other tankers by pressing Tab as well, but is still shown in the chat lobby.

Wow, i think a lot of people would be doing this unintentionally. I have too! Thanks for the information! I'm a little uneasy though, wondering if mults can/are exploiting this in the middle of battles?

Most players aren't aware of it. If they are in some way, they'll be automatically kicked from the battle after five minutes. When those mults log in again on the browser, their name will be removed from the battle they were in and the places will be free. Players in the chat lobby would receive enough time to join that particular battle before that particular 'mult' would as he'd first need to face Tanki's auto-server after clicking "play". Of he uses the URL, players would still have a small window to join right in as someone would mult in a packed battle to win.

None of this happens though and nor it should. ;)

Since the issue is solved - closed.
