Promoting Unpopular Maps.

As a way to promote unpopluar maps, I think I have thought of a way. I think there should be a lobby, where a server chooses 3 random maps, and people can vote fpr what map they want. Keep in mind that is can also be a random game mode. So say for example there are 3 maps. Noise  CTF, Polygon CP, or Sandbox DM. Lets say a majority of the people choose Sandbox DM. Then that will be the next game-mode. 

 

All battles chosen will be 15 minutes long

Format battles are not included

Supplies can be used

The teams are chosen at random, so it's impossible to predict which team will win.

Yes, GoldBox drops, as always! 

 

Well, that's my idea as a way to promote unpopular maps. See you on the battlefield! ~NewbieCake

It will just end up being another unpopular game mode, similar to TDM. If people don't play on rare maps now, it doesn't mean they will play on them if the maps are presented in a slightly different way.

I must be missing something.

 

To promote something, you have to give an incentive. What is the incentive?

 

Please note that once the promotion is over, it is business as usual again.

I agree. If there is no advantage to playing on the map of lesser popularity, nothing will happen at all.

I think I remember reading this but can't remember why I didn't post..

 

I agree with Mafioso, its not something that the average player would get into. This would only grab the attention of those wanting to play something different, which is not the majority. I made my suggestion, which appeals to peoples' wallets. An avenue that is in the game now is the Daily missions which should make people play unpopular maps, they've just yet to realize its needed. It appeals to the older players who need something to aim for and increases the possibility of new trends being set.

 

I don't think this is the solution to the unpopular maps. Instead of it being a specified server system, it could turn into a "randomize" option within battle creation.

I agree, there should be a 2x funds weekend in like 10 of the unpopular maps. Some players haven't even played in them. Tribute and Molotov are some of my favorite maps, and I rarely ever see games on them. :(

They are now forcing you to play there with daily missions.

Not really, most of the daily missions for playing on maps (or at least the ones I've gotten) have been for popular maps like Kungur, Serpuhov, Red Alert, Sandbox, and Polygon... and you can always change a mission once for free if you don't like the map.

That is only caused by bad execution.
