Tanki - The Hacking Kingdom

 Share

Recommended Posts

I wonder how tankers accounts are being hacked frequently. Are Tanki developers totally ignorant of security issues or they don’t have any skill to fix security flaws? My account is hacked for the sixth time today. This time the crystals that I lost included the crystals that I earned by winning the Photoshop Contest. I changed my password about a week ago. My password was long and complicated. Whenever I save large amount of crystals to buy something, my account get hacked.

No other game or any website is so much vulnerable to hacking as Tanki Online. I thought about it deeply and found out possibilities that could be the reasons behind hacking that I mentioned below:

  1. Tanki developers do not pay attention to security intentionally or unintentionally.
  2. The developers are totally ignorant of security issues.
  3. They do not have skill to provide security in the game.

Tanki is a complex game to develop and the developers must be highly skilled in designing and programming. So, we cannot expect such silly possibilities that I mentioned above from Tanki developers.

Therefore, the only possibility remains is the Tanki administrators and developers are hackers themselves. They do not want players to do buy turrets, hulls or paints without purchasing crystals with real money to maximize their earnings. So, Tanki administrators hack players’ accounts to reduce crystals in their account or they allow their enlisted hackers to hack the accounts.

I would like to ask a question to the players: Have your account got hacked after purchasing crystals with real money? If not, then we could be sure that Tanki hacks the players’ accounts that have large amount of crystals that the players earned by playing battles and not by purchasing with real money. If it is true then it’s a shame for Tanki. If it’s not true, then it’s a shame also as they failed to provide security.

I am sure, Tanki administrators and developers would be very much annoyed on me for such harsh words, though, I like to speak out.

I apologize if my claim is wrong. Then I request Tanki developers to stop working on developing hulls, turrets, paints and additional features and put all your efforts on security of the game. This is very important.

Thank you all for reading this post and good luck!

Hello. First of all, Tanki doesn't "hack" players' accounts to get their crystals away. Even they return the crystals that are spent by the hacker. If your account is getting hacked frequently, this is more like your fault rather than Tanki's. You should get a stronger password. Of course, you will get hacked a lot, if you have a weak easy-guessable password.

And, developers do care about players' security. For example, hacked accounts are blocked by the administration and can be unblocked only by the real owner of account, by providing some information to the tech support about the account.

P.S: You said that your crystals were spent by an hacker. You can easily get a compensation for that. Just contact to technical support team at help@tankionline.com

Dear jokersus.cava,

Tankionline is not the only website where I use password, there are plenty of them. But nowhere my account is hacked except Tanki. I am a database software developer. So I am fully aware of hacking threats and I know how to make strong passwords very well. So, please don’t try to hide Tanki’s incompetency saying ‘it is your fault’. However, thank you for your suggestions.

In any case I don't see any point in developers themselves hacking players' accounts. It is neither advantageous for them nor for us. As for the hacking, 95% of accounts are hacked upon owners consent i.e. the owner is lured by hacker who pretends to give free crystals, in most cases. The owner then falls into the scam and hacker gets access to his account. If the account is not attached to an email, it is possible for the hacker to change the password too!

In your case, I don't believe that anyone except you knows your password. The second cause could be your browser. If you are using special clients, that could be the cause of your hack. You can read more about their dangers here

If you are a database software developer then you should be aware by now of how you got hacked six times..

Even if you have the strongest password in the word, the simplest of key loggers, if existent, can get it. So, make sure you clean your PC or Laptop with an Anti-virus program to remove any possibilities of key loggers.

And, if you have an E-mail linked to your account, it shouldn't be easy to hack.

Moreover, please don't through accusations. Tanki developers are working around the clock for our satisfaction. They also have a 24/7 tech support that helps players everywhere with everything they need. And currently, their most important feature they are working on at the moment is not new turrets, hulls or paints, they are currently working on the Anti-cheat system to remove hackers once and for all, or at least reduce the number of them dramatically.

P.S.

It's not Tanki's problem you're getting hacked, they provide us with everything we need to ensure we keep our accounts secure. It's your job to set a strong password, don't fall for scammers and phishers, keep your PC/Laptop clean of any malware, and linking your account to a valid e-mail

I’m a database software developer, it doesn’t mean that I have access to Tanki’s database or software to know why I was hacked. I use best licensed anti-virus software (Kasperky Internet Security), I use Virtual Keyboard when entering password to avoid key loggers, I clear cache, browsing history, cookies etc. every time before connecting to Tanki. I always remain cautious about scammers and phishers.

Linking account to a valid email doesn’t prevent hacking for spending crystals. It can prevent stealing an account. However, I have a valid email linked to my account.

I don’t know if the login password for Tanki is encrypted and transferred over SSL. I received warning massages from Kaspersky Internet Security twice saying that the data transferred to Tankionline is not encrypted. If the password is transferred in plain text then anybody can grab the password in transit. But I didn’t receive the warning on subsequent logins.

Thank you “beaku” for your nice reply. I respect your ideas. However, I am also aware of those security flaws.

Now the only hope is the Anti-cheat system that is being developed by Tanki developers. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

I seriously have no idea what else can be cause of your hack. Obviously, Tanki has some loopholes in its security. Let's hope that the anti-cheat comes out soon and closes the loopholes to save millions of other accounts. Meanwhile, keep up the security measures and hope for the best. :)
