I haven't cut myself with paper on the butt! (Okay that sounds weird when said aloud)  And I don't think you can get a cut from toilet paper.....unless you have some 8x11 paper in your bathroom and mistake it for toilet paper..... if it was Bounty or something I'd say no

Why is the earth round?

Gravity! A sphere is made because gravity wants to make everything as close as possible. Think of a triangular pyramid: The tips aren't very close to the rest of it. Because all points on the surface of a sphere are the same distance from the center, a sphere is stable.

 

You might now be thinking, "Then why do we have mountains?" Because gravity on Earth isn't big enough to pull them down, so even though we have a spherical planet, it's not perfect.

Whoever said that earth is round? Last I remember, it was an oblate spheroid while the atmosphere is in hydrostatic equilibrium.

Anyway, any fluid left in vacuum will tend towards a sphere due to surface tension. Larger the surface of a fluid, more the surface tension in it. Therefore, any fluid will tend to acquire a shape in which it has least surface area which mathematically, a sphere.

Same goes for Stars and planets. When earth was still in liquid form, it's gravity did the same job as surface tension does causing it to maintain a hydrostatic equilibrium. Rotation of earth causes it to acquire it's well known oblate spheroid shape. Hope that helped. :)
