Greetings, readers. Welcome to the eleventh edition of Ask the Community - this article involves asking a variety of users a single question on a particular subject in Tanki Online. It aims to provide you with the opinions of users on a plethora of different subjects. If you have any suggestions for questions I could ask, mention them below. Let's get to it!

This question is centered around a scenario.

"Say you were a Colonel, with your favorite combination at M2. You're looking to buy two paints. Of all the paints available Colonel below, which 2 paints would you pick and why?"

Matchstick117

Being a long-distance player, I would choose Tundra for railgun protection, and Winter for shaft protection.

Dsteinerz

I would pick urban and atom. I would pick these because they protect against the most common weapons found in Polygon CP's, and I play a lot of Polygon CP. I also really like the looks.

timothy13

Digital and rustle
Because I like using thunder and railgun. So basically, I am a xp player.

Between third leiutunant and colonel there are some nice colors! On the one hand,I would pick Spark.First, because it is so beatifull and I could use this at youtube videos.Second, it have a good protections from firebird twins and richochet which are popoular guns at polygon. Also when I would get m3 hornet i could use it at xp battles. On the other hand, I would pick Sandstone. It is a really nice color I love his protections and I could use it at xp battles with m2 hornet. To sum up I would pick Spark and Sandstone and if i could buy a color from higher level that would be emerald!

My favorite combination is Ricochet and Hornet. I don't like getting hit by Shaft, Railgun, Freeze, Firebird, and Twins. Of all the paints available between Third Lieutenant and Colonel, it would have to be Atom and Digital. Both of them have a good design and look cool, and Digital has a better protection from Railgun, the turret that I most despise, and I don't really hate other turrets but they're a nuisance, but not too common.

davide20011

My favorite combination is Hammer and Viking. Of all the paint available between Third Lieutanant and Colonel I pick the Spark and Rustle paint because spark have good protection from Ricochet and the Rustle paint have a good protection from Thunder and Freeze.

My way is so far and my goals are hard to achieve , Sadly .... Iam a colonel right now using a poor Hornet and Rail M2 , getting bullied from all around from especially Vulcan , hammer & twins ... So I decided to buy 2 new paints since i got enough crystals , "paints iam getting are Rhino and Urban paints" , why those paints? Because Hammer and vulcan are getting on my nerves , I cant move around without getting flipped by a hammer or Getting 20 shots per second from Vulcan .... And for twins , the main fear in Small maps , Will be getting the Urban for it to have an advantage of staying alive and fight ....

I like the paints Atom and Rustle, as they have pretty good protection and awesome looks biggrin.png

Rustle Paint:

Moderate protection against Isida, Thunder, and Freeze. I don't like those, because of Isida's self-healing, Thunder's large damage per shot, and Freeze's infamous freezing effect.

Atom Paint:

Good protection from Firebird, Freeze, Twins, and Hammer.

Firebird's high damage and "afterburn" is a big nuisance, especially with light hulls. With the Freeze, look up biggrin.png

Twins is very annoying, because of high DPS, and high impact force. M2 twins is scary tongue.png

And with the hammer, very high damage per shot. If you like light hulls like I do, you probably no what I mean. wink.png

POWERFULLSOUL

I love playing with railgun and wasp. And the paint i would prefer is sandstone and rhino . In my experience I feel like thunder is toughest opponent for railgun. As it can shoot even if we hide behind any object. And I also need protection against railgun or else railgun m3 can take me in a shot. Rhino is good against hammer,in fact it is newborn enemy of light hulls(especially when using railgun) as it knock of aim or even flip!

Night-Sisters

Digital absolutely, because you always need a good rail protection paint in your arsenal...and, if you're into that kind of thing, you can micro upgrade it all the way to 50 protection.

I would also choose Urban, because with the protection from Isidia and Twins, it is a very good paint for smaller maps where rails aren't as much as a problem.

Vanilla_XY

I'd choose maybe Urban, as it is beneficial against Twins attacks, you may get few twins in battle, however, you'll never know when they will show up, as they can just knock off your aim.

And for my next, Loam, I like using short-range weapons and battling against the, now that Freeze has been a bit lame, I now have to face an even bigger problem, the Firebird. I also like the look and design on this particular paint.

M4ShermanUSA

As a Hornet/Railgun player, I highly recommend Digital. I use it a lot.

When fully MU'ed it takes 3-5 shots to be killed by M1 thru M3 rails.

As a Riccochet player, my second choice is Spark.

It has the best Riccochet protection of all paints until you reach much higher levels.

Also it is one of the best looking paints on the battlefield.

navi613

Being a short ranged player I would pick Winter for protection against long ranged weapons, such as shaft and railgun. I would also pick Electra as it has the best Isida protection out of the all paints I am able to choose from.

There's been a lot of exclamation about a recent addition to Tanki Online, Hammer; and well the issue at hand is when you are staying to defend in you base, at often times you'll be marauded by a pack of Hammer's and the result is always inevitable. A Twins user like myself perhaps may actually have a very high success rate in a situation like this which is why i believe that its the ideal paint.

For my second paint i would recommend rustle because it can really help with the steep increase in damage, Thunder receives at Mark 2. Which is why at any opportunity to suppress your foes you have to take it.

My favourite M2 combination is thunder and mammoth. With the thunder's splash ability and the mammoth durability, they make a perfect team, however, I have noticed their is a few weaknesses towards my combo, which can be fixed with the right paints.

My thunder is a good gun, that creates splash damage, meaning I can kill multiple targets. This is good for getting assist points although everyone knows the easy way to kill a thunder, to 'hug' them by driving up close so that they take self-damage. For this reason I suggest buying the paint
rustle. It's 32% protection is awesome and is a must to any thunder user. Not only has it got self protection but it also protects you from two close ranged guns, isida (10%) and freeze (20%). This paint gives you the edge in the battlefield, and is also great for wiping out multiple targets whilst taking minimal damage when a gold box drops.

A real threat, even more-so than self damage to a combo like mine is the firebird. It can kill multiple targets, I suggest buying the paint
Loam, unless you want to be a deep fried tank! The protection that Loam offers is extremely useful, as it offers protection from firebird (36%). However it also offers small, but a useful 10% protection from thunder. My mammoth is already slow, but having a freeze to worsen the speed is just humiliating, as it drives round you spraying its ice cold rays. Thankfully I can endure 'winter' long enough to kill it with Loam's 10% protection, which may not seem like much although is certainly helpful out there in the battlefield.

I would have to go with digital and rhino. Railgun and hammer are both deadly weapons, and many people use both of these. Around the colonel rank, I would expect to see many m3 guns while I would have m2, so protection from these guns are crucial. Shaft, firebird, and vulcan aren't really a threat to me, but protection against these guns is still useful. Though short distance guns are dangerous, I rarely play in small maps.

So, asking me about paints is probably not the thing most would do if they knew me.  I play with Shaft, thus I am constantly exposed to people attacking while in scope, and too many different types to really decide on a protection.  Since I camp, what matters to me most is the actual camouflage benefit of a paint job.  Tanki landscape is basically drab, dryer summer fauna, slightly brighter winter fauna, and lots of older dilapidated structures with depictions of drab paint to emulate a war torn battle field.

To date, I have yet to buy a paint, and I am ranked at Warrant Officer 5.  I have been playing with the stock green paint to date, and as of yet have found a much better paint for hiding really.  I use various locations, and as such, I cannot single out a single pattern per say that will suit me best throughout a battle really, though the green always works with the trees and shrubs.  Since I have really little need for more than that, I have not a single other paint in inventory.  Black is nice, but even in night maps, unless you are in shadowed darkness, the flat black paint outlines you.  White for winter DOES work sometimes, but you need to find spots with large patches of white and a few mottled places for the trim that is not natural and could be easily picked out, but that said it works in some instances, I have seen it.  Orange for sand maps also has this same set of parameters, just less effective still.

Now, of all the paints that can be purchased, Flora seems to be the best, at any rank, for these purposes.  It has an excellent amount of tan, the color most frequently seen on many objects, and when combined with the other patterns, sitting behind just one shrub can hide you VERY well.  My second choice is difficult, it is between Swamp and Clay, and honestly, Swamp has plenty of grey and up against any number of walls and a tree or two, it wins out in hiding its tank.

Again though, since the question proposed is for paints between Third Lieutenant and Colonel, first choice would be Winter, followed by Digital.  Winter as lots of greys and black and is good for the very urban environment.  Digital doesn't seem to have too much more going than the other camo patterns and the brighter green in it is less useful.

So there you have my picks. Winter and Digital, both providing some REAL possibility of camoflauge to the user.

Tanki Online is a very diverse game, from day one you start developing skill and as u progress the game better gear.

Currently in my career I hold my most valuable M2 Dictator and deadly M2 Ricochet. Also known as the Boar this combo is certainly one of the best ( especially in Polygon CP, my specialty ) A high impact force and high rate of damage ( Ricochet ) works great with a stable and durable hull ( Dictator ) creating almost perfect results.

With the increase on Thunder's damage and growing number of Thunder druggers rustle could prove to be a life saver many times. Not only will it reduce thunder's damage (32%) but also give a crucial immunity to an annoying and powerful turrets known as Freeze (20%) and Isida (10%)

Due to recent updates Twins has become even more of a nuisance than ever so it is more likely that any tanker would aim to achieve a strong Twins protection paint. Urban is the answer to your dilemma providing a vital 40% protection on twins and an extra 20% on the health sucking turret Isida. Not only will Urban give u an advantage on Twins and Isida but also create a small but helpful 5% protection to both Firebird and Ricochet.

So in conclusion these two paints will serve you dearly, tremendously boosting your scores alongside the awesome Boar.

My opinion:

Prior to around the beginning of May, I would have picked Hohloma and Sandstone. I had the mindset the protection was really solid. However, the quantity of protection in a paint is also pretty important to me. Before this, I realised that Hive and Nano do not give you the protections you're paying for, given that Needle has more protection than Nano, and Hive's protections are identical to that of Emerald and Irbis, yet is the same price as Inferno. Unfortunately, Hohloma and Sandstone also fall into the same trap. Hohloma's overall protection is 62% at 108,500 crystals, and Loam, a 102,500 crystal paint has an overall protection of 66%. Sandstone has an overall protection of 54% yet Spark has an overall protection of 58%. I still think Sandstone is a decent buy, but that's something you should bear in mind. Urban does offer more protection than Rhino and Loam, but it's not enough more for an extra 12,500 crystals. Finally, Savanna and Cherry have more protection than Atom. I look to get value for crystals when buying paints - therefore, Hohloma and Urban are off my list. Atom's still a possibility after a while since it's aesthetically pleasing.

I would probably go with either the 79,500 crystal pair (Digital and Spark) or a 102,500 crystal pair (two of these: Loam, Rhino or Winter) because I feel that they've got good synergism.

Which two paints would you pick? Feel free to comment below!

ok seeing i just did this ranking in  about three months  ..now most would disagree but i used first off was Desert and upgraded only by about 1/4 % no need for any more and then i went to..rock but its not at this rank so if i had to choose then its either urban or loam but still only upgrading to about 40% due to moving to gismo then go lumber jacket or rock but fully upgrading from m3
