Um, I have lost several golds due to lag, and it's because of this: I lagged under them, not over.

Lagging gives no advantage to gold-taking, believe me -_-

If you lag too much yes. But with small lags, it's easy to climb tanks. So big advantage.

It doesnt matter if devs changed the probability of gold dropping or not,

But one thing stay same its not fair for players who spend hours playing tanki and even dont see any gold falling while someone play few minutes and catch couple of goldboxes!
