Battle Reporting System

Recommended Posts

Hello! First of all, I apologize if this idea was already mentioned.

All right, let's move on with the idea. My idea is a battle reporting system. Similar to the button players with spectator mode have, there should be another button titled something along the lines of "Report". Once you click the button you will have to type in a name of the suspected violator in the battle. This button will allow all players to notify all the moderators on the server of a battle regardless if all the people who pressed the report button and entered the same suspected violator's name or a different suspected violator's name. The moderators will check the battle and with investigate all the players reported equally. This tool should be mainly used if you find suspicious activity such as power-leveling which is enforced too lightly as the only way to get someone banned for it is if you have spectator mode and record what is happening in the battle. This could also be used for reporting players who look like mults in battle whose scores are normally low and have been either staying the same or growing slowly.

Now, I wouldn't be surprised if you have many thoughts if your mind - thoughts of how this button can be abused, wrongfully used, or could spring up false alarms. I shall explain to you how moderators are actually notified and the punishment of pranking them. A battle needs at least ten players to hit the report button for a notification to be sent out to moderators. If a group of people deliberately abuses the report button to trick moderators, they should all receive one warning. If they do it again, the report button should not be available to them no matter what the circumstances are. Players cannot report battles that are not available to their own rank and can only vote one battle per thirty minutes. Additionally, an IP address cannot vote twice on the same battle. Say if they raise a false alarm and the moderator(s) clearly see why people would report a battle then the players who clicked the report button shouldn't have any punishment taken upon them. If a corrupt moderator bans the players otherwise, the player should be able to appeal to one of the moderator's superiors. Moderators should be able to see who reported the battle and at what time they did.

The notification of the reported battle should be prioritized on the moderators of the server and then on other moderators on nearby servers (by language (EN, RU, DE)).

This idea was constructed and brought to life thanks to @BiggieZablip who reported a player for power-leveling in the following two threads:

http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=230285

http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=230313

As you can see, I don't think the situation was dealt with properly so this idea should be able to fix that.

If you have any questions regarding this idea, please comment down below and I will try my best to answer (and make sure you read all the questions so you don't repeat a question someone has already asked me). If you think this is a good idea, please upvote this thread. Thank you.

I would love a system where players can report power-leveling in such issues like a 1v1 with alternate accounts....because currently, the only way to deal with those types of power-leveling is to find a Chat Moderator and report it to him/her. Or if you are a Chat Moderator, you can enter the battle yourself. ;) But like in the topics you linked to, a simple screenshot isn't enough proof, and this might be why:

  • "Before the screenshot was taken someone could have left, and then a person with 0 score joined, we just have no way of proving it, which is why we need real-time video evidence."

It appears to me that you are mistaken about how many chat moderators they are. Even with the current /vote system there are still way too many violation reports in battles for the chat mods to sort through all of then fast enough. With the addition of this system there will be even more work for them to do and they will not be able to do it.

Also, I don't actually understand how the system you suggest is different to the current /vote system. With /vote you also have to:

  1. Report the violator
  2. Have at least 60% of the players do reports for battle to be highlighted to mods
  3. Wait for moderator to come and sort out the situation
  4. Can get a warning for false reports.

What you are suggesting is basically the same.

But how do they report from outside of the battle? I mean, sure, they can report form inside, and they should, but how to do so from the outside when you can clearly see the violation?

Do you really think someone from inside the battle will use the /vote command to report themselves? Say that it's a 2 person match. Player A reports player B using the /vote command. First of all, it's only one player voting therefore it doesn't reach 60%. If it's a 3 person match and player A and player B report player C then they would want to get themselves banned for deliberately helping player C power-level? I think not. There needs to be a way from the outside as from the inside, especially in the case of power-leveling, the chances of your own friends to try to get you banned (and probably get themselves banned) is way too low.

Of course though, people love getting themselves banned so you do have a point, right? ;).
