google chrome portable

Hey guys

My favorite browser is Google chrome.... ;)

And I discovered something very interesting.....

If I download Google chrome portable and copy/paste into windows program files with administrator privileges it is at the very least 2x faster than Google chrome (normal version)

Try it out guys, and tell me whether it works with your computer or not.... :)

Also, does anyone know of some good portable software sites?

Currently, all i know of are:

1. Portableapps.com

2. Portableappz.blogspot.com

If you guys know of some more sites, let me know... :) ;)

Thanks. :D

BTW when you first launch it its very slow.... (probably because the program was copied/pasted and not installed and the program has no registry data) but after the first launch it becomes lightning fast.... so don't delete it after the first launch cause it's slow.....

Launch it again.... and you will feel the difference in speed... :)

After all, speed is all that matters, right? :D

Also, if you want to run Google chrome portable from a flash drive, you can did so, but Google Chrome Portable may run slowly from some flash drives. You can speed this up by copying GoogleChromePortable.ini from the GoogleChromePortable\Other\Source directory to the GoogleChromePortable directory and editing it to set RunLocally=true

Hope that helped ;)

You already know that some applications offer portable or “soft” installations, but don’t you wish there was some place on the Internet where you could find any portable application? Although few, the good news is that there are some!

what if my net is very slow (50 KB/s), will it make a difference? i cant try cuz i cant use my pc ffor sometime

No matter how fast your Internet connection is, when your computer performance is okay, and you notice that internet is only slow when surfing the internet, then it is time to check your internet browser settings. But before you start playing with the web browser configuration, the easiest way to determine if your navigator is causing the problem is by downloading another one and see if the new one is faster. If you use for example Internet Explorer as web browser, download FireFox.  If the new browser is faster, use that one and uninstall the old one. It is often much easier to solve configuration issue this way.

Another factor that can make your internet slow is the internet connection.
Depending on what kind of connection you have contracted, an internet connection is used by you alone (ADSL) or shared among several users (Cable). If you share your connection with several users, than you can imagine that how more users are connected, the slower the internet becomes.

well i have been playing using that speed only so.... not much.. sometimes there are delays (for eg. in an XP duel my enemy hits me first even though i pressed space long ago ) which is really irritating but i can handle them. and ping is the thing which matters more than internet speed IMO.

No . I Use 512Kbps internet connection and i get smooth gameplay with almost all graphics on .

graphics are dependent on graphics card, not much on internet..

It might help a little.... but you won't feel the difference.....
