Defense-Damage and rounding

 Share

Recommended Posts

I came across interesting notice. I am speaking about M0.

Railgun base damage is 74 with 5th micro upgade it is +12 = 86 and with 6th MU-s it is 88.

Hornet base defense is 82.2 with 1. Micro upgrade it is 86,3 and with second 88,4.

First case is simple. Two person who has Railgun with 5th micro upgrade has shot me dead with signle shot despite I have Hornet with 1th Micro upgrade 86,3 defense against 86 damage? Does it mean .0 decimals are rounded up and down? as if 86 took out down 86.3 with single shot? Or am I missing something here. If thats true then it leaves a lot weapons thunder, smoky, freeze, firebird etc.. in disadvantage if their decimal number is under 0.5?

Could someone verify what is the true mathemics behind it? There is also possibilty of "lowest health to survive" limit. For exmaple if the value would be 1. Then 86.3-86=0.3 and it counts as kill? Which in my opinion would be good option.

The damage isn't the same with every shot. It is random and varies within a certain range and the average damage for every shot most likely follows the Normal Distribution pattern. So if you have a gun with damage ranging from 55 to 65, then overall average damage will be 60, but most shots will be between about 58 and 62 damage, meaning that you will one-shot a hull with 60 units of health 50% of the time.

Mafioza! Did you even read my OP or just spammed the thread with random answer as your previous 3000+ posts!

My question has nothing to do with NORMAL DISTRIBUTION theory. I can´t even explain you how much I hate open forums, as you will probably not understand it, Judging by your previous reply.

So go read OP again, and reply in accordance or just leave it be and save my time from your misinformation! I am talking about forumula Attack-Damage and defense. And how come a weapon with one single hit, despite having lower maximum attack power to kill- take out a hull with bigger defense base!

I can think of 2 explanations...

1. DP. (drugs are common use at almost any rank, especially by unskilled railguns)

2. It's more MU'd than you think.

Drugs? Sarcasm or some in-game feature i am not aware of?

More MU thank you I think? It quite verified level of MU, no reason to lie. By two different players I know for a while.. just discovred by playing. Or you mean those MU-s add more damage, than tanki help page reveals?

I simply misunderstood your topic, there's no need to be rude about it.

The Wiki page about Railgun MUs shows this:

gjMUp0i.jpg

The first step adds 3.4 hp to the default 82.2 and 82.2+3.4=85.6. I have no idea where you got the 86.3 armour from, because after the second step the armour increases to 87.7.

86>85.6, so Railgun M0 with 5 damage upgrades is able to 1-shot a Hornet m0 with one armour upgrade.

OK, ignore that....
The Wiki info is wrong  -_-

In that case I don't know why the 86.3 health Hornet would get one-shot. Did you do it in controlled conditions? So there is no possibility that the Hornet took damage before getting shot with Rail? If not, then the most likely reason is that the damage dealt leaves >1 hp left in the Hornet and the game is programmed to only allow a tank to live if it has 1 hp left (or perhaps at least 0.5 so that it rounds up). The 0.3 hp left in the Hornet after a Railgun shot is not enough to live, therefore the Hornet just dies.

It's a minor difference that really won't affect you in battle, so there is no point telling the developers to fix it or taking it into account when purchasing guns.

Ty for answering. I appreciate it. Sorry for being rude - its just the way I am. Straightforward.

I do not suggest fixing it. Just wondered the game mechanism and its mathematics, becuase in real situations it would matter a lot if I live with 0.3 healt or i am dead - regarding i can kill the railgun and reach out for healt package! It game situation it makes everything.

Because as I see there are few options:

- Either the hypothetical under 1 Health remaining counts as kill:

- Either damage is being rounded - which would leave as I pointed fast paced weapons in disadvantage if they have 0.4 decimal dmg for example! Or advantage in 0.6! And also hulls defense. My self I think it is the case of Hypothetical under 1 health. As the second case raises questions why at all point out decimal damage and defense - then it only would be to misinform playerbase to buy more items, while not even getting the real benefit as things get rounded.

Could there be a way to verify, to know what is the real case! Somehow?

it must have been rail m1

Well go read the post or JUST STOP SPAMMING. I made it clear it was M0! The End.

Supplies. Commonly called drugs for an ancient reason, but a railgun with double power supply on can indeed one hit hornets (even vikings).

I was thinking of it. It was not the case. I am not total newcomer here. It was not even last second press of drug-supply and hit. We made sure of it.
