Lag=Power!?!?

Recommended Posts

Lagging players have too many advantages:

1. Teleport (they lag only in your screen afterall, so they literally teleport. I mean, they don't see themselves teleport)

2. Climb on tanks (They're able to get a gold with such ease it's overwhelming, they just lag over anyone else, and pick it)

3. Immunity to bullets (Cause of the teleport is this, you shoot at where you see them, but in reality they're somewhere else, and your precious shots are wasted)

4. Impossibility to block them from picking flags (because only climbing is not enough, they can go under your tank aswell, making it both impossible to shoot at for the tank above, and impossible to block them from getting the flag)

And probably more...

This is the ONLY online PvP game I've ever played where lag actually gives an advantage, solve it. <.<

Why should i want a 20 MB/s connection, when i can go with 0.5-1 and get way better gaming results?

I'm telling you - lag is very unpredictable and isn't a good "tactic" if you want an easy win. Most of the time when I was experimenting with bad internet connection, I ended up either having to reload the battle or getting instantly killed when the game caught up with the connection. Yes, sometimes lag can give you an advantage, but it's at best a 50-50 chance of success. I'm not sure if anything can be done about it though, because the developers don't want to shut off a big group of players just because their internet is unstable.

3.& we're immune to their shots as well

I've had a small lag spike today, allowed me with half life on hornet to shoot enough shots on a twins viking (somewhat like a full rico m2 clip) to come out victorious instead of dead, so no, we aren't immune to laggers shots, also hiding is useless because they see you out of cover and tanki registers their hit as true and you get destroyed anyways...

LAG=no impact on your hull=always hit your enemy

I think there is some latency in tanki's servers, i know for a fact it isn't me because i've optimized all of my settings, i think what you are describing is known as delayed actions, where tankers playing the game from their computers already did an action and it is being delayed to make it look like they are climbing on top of your tank etc

There are even lag-hacks out there.. that make your movement unpredictable (while keeping the incoming packets fast, so you see everything. Just the others see you delayed).

So yes, it can be used as powerfull thing

I've been suspecting so, it's way too common to think it's a coincidence...

Every single one of your arguments is false. I play with an immense amount of lag on a daily basis, so I do know extremely well how much it just plain SUCKS to have lag.

"1. Teleport (they lag only in your screen afterall, so they literally teleport. I mean, they don't see themselves teleport)" Yes, but the thing is this: That is happening on their screens too. When a person is lagging enough for the teleporting effect to start happening,   their enemies are moving all over the place and they can't get a shot in.

"2. Climb on tanks (They're able to get a gold with such ease it's overwhelming, they just lag over anyone else, and pick it)" Really? Most of the time I end up on bottom because of lag. And anyways, when a player has lag, they can't time the gold right. Often, when I see the gold about a Dictator's height above everybody, that's when somebody's taking it. Also, the laggy player will pick up the gold later, and usually it takes so long that somebody with a good connection will have taken it before the system realizes that the laggy player touched it. And by then, it's too late.

"3. Immunity to bullets (Cause of the teleport is this, you shoot at where you see them, but in reality they're somewhere else, and your precious shots are wasted)" They're still not immune. Just they're not really where you think they are. Also, this only happens in cases where the ping is extremely high. Anyways, they can't shoot you either because you are "teleporting" all around them. When a player has this bad of lag, the speed with which they get exp, as well as their D/L, will drop hugely. They have no way of protecting themselves, as when they see a player going towards them, they are in reality already dead, but it hasn't showed on their screens. When I'm in this situation, I rarely get more than 5 exp a minute, no matter what combo I use. Also, this teleporting will most likely result in a self-destruct due to the anti-cheat software. Even when there's not enough lag where they teleport, they still have a huge disadvantage. Let's say a laggy player is running in a straight line, and somebody shoots them from the side. On the lagger's screen, even if the shot landed 5 props behind him, it will still damage the player because it actually hit him. This is an extreme, but even a difference of 1 second is a huge disadvantage.

"4. Impossibility to block them from picking flags (because only climbing is not enough, they can go under your tank aswell, making it both impossible to shoot at for the tank above, and impossible to block them from getting the flag)" Wrong, as they will probably die before they get to your flag, as they can not defend themselves. Also, if someone is lagging this bad, then they have to stay on the flag for several second before the game registers that they are on it, and by then they will probably die. Also, players with so much lag will probably drop the flag due to the system thinking they don't have it.

And probably more... Yes, there are many other ways in which laggy players have disadvantages ;)

Yes, sometimes lag can give you an advantage, but it's at best a 50-50 chance of success

In my experience, it has always been a 0% chance :/

Well, whenever I play on one of my laggy computers, it either says ive been kicked for foul play, or "an error occurred" So I doubt players who do have lag have an advantage for more than a few minutes without getting kicked or something...

Watch this video (It's not mine)

Most of these misses by other players are related to lag, it's quite interesting to see it from a lagger's POV (since I am not a lagger :P).

Maybe you have TOO much lag, but these things happen in every battle i go in, i can't ignore it when they're mostly railgun users whom i can't see charging beams/apply my impact force on and receive a hit i can't dodge, as a hornet user it's vital to make them miss .-.

I'm going to bump this, NO way a hornet can simply go under a mammoth, lay a mine, and come out victorious because of lag!

I believe in this more everyday anyways...

Well it is exists (once met someone who used it). But most of the lag we experience the last weeks is just normal lag.

The last weeks I often come across this situation:

- me and my enemy have a good ping (both below 35)

- we see each other lag obviously

So the problem was not because of the connections (as the ping measures only the connection towards the server).

It seems to be the server itself that has some issues with fast processing and forwarding the information about each player. And of course this is worst when the servers graph shows high load while it is not existising when there are only a few people on the server. As the basic principle (higher load = longer response times) comes naturaly.. I have the impression it became worse the last weeks
