New game mode: DM-TDM crossover

  1. How would people know you and your 'friend' are teaming? How about when a you and your friend team, you completely leave the green list and become another colour, in another list? Or you and your friend are combine into one row in the green list.

    That would look like:

  2. When teaming you and your partner can view each others health? Correct? (This would make neat new photos for me if it's a new colour :D)

  3. Will there be a limit to how many teams there can be per battle? Because think about it, if everyone is teaming, it isn't really DM, is it? It's TDM will nine or so teams.

  4. The option should be disabled in DM Tournaments.

  5. WHY U NU MAKE DIS "UNDER REVIEW?"

1. There are plenty of ways to show that players are in a team, from coloured nicknames to the options you suggested. I think developers need to accept the concept as a whole first and minor details can be decided in the late development stage.

2. Yes. I mean, it would make sense.

3. I don't think there needs to be a limit. The whole thing will be more like a mix between DM and TDM, rather than just an option for DM, so it might as well be completely different from DM. The only limit will be the number of players in one team, which should be no more than 5 or 6 on a 24 player map, I think.

4. Yes, definitely.

5. No point. All ideas are under review by default, unless they have a specific tag in the title.

Why don't we just make a multi-team deathmatch, MTDM we could have up to 4 teams of 6 on a 24 player map, and when joining, teams have to either be divided equally into those 4 or a setting where 3 teams could fill up, but a 4th team could be added when someone joins.

Cool Idea! The only thing I disagree with is that both the teammates will get a kill if they destroyed a tank together, the player with the final hit should get the kill.

what is the positive thing of chat in DM my idea is cancel it

Someone suggested that before, but chat is a very important part of any online game/community that makes it social. Without the chat there would be no way to greet someone, thank someone, tell a joke, wish happy birthday, congratulate about a gold or new rank...  Sometimes removing a whole feature to solve a minor problem is not the best idea. Removing chat would definitely stop insults and spam, but I would much rather have those little annoyances show up every now and then than not have the chat at all.

Maybe this could be tied-in with the in-game "army" system?

That's misleading. An "army" is a lot more than 2-4 people working together for 15 minutes.

I'm talking about situations where the in-game "army/clan" members will be able to join each other's DMs, and automatically be grouped together or something.

Nah, this is about being able to temporarily team with anyone in any random DM battle. Organised team/clan games are more complex.

DM isn't the most popular game mode in this game and I think that's mostly because it simply isn't interesting enough at the moment since all you have to do is shoot and not get shot.

Players often try to make it more interesting for themselves by agreeing to team up with others and play together. However, such a system often annoys other players and causes conflicts in the battle chat.

My idea is to add an option to create "Alliances" in DM. Players, who dislike teams in DM can create/participate in battles with this option disabled, as it will be a tick box that players will select when creating the battle.

In the battle there would be a special button for teaming up in DM (you select a player in the list and send them a request to team up). Your request to team up will show up in the top-right corner of the person you wist to team up with, similar to an invitation notification. It will be possible to disable these notifications, making it impossible for others to send you an "alliance proposal". If they accept your request, the two of you will become an official team in that battle, which will change your gameplay in such a way that:

  • Your weapons will deal 10-15% less damage to enemies
  • You won't be able to damage each other
  • If you destroy a tank together with your partner, you will get 30 xp points divided between you two depending on the damage each of you dealt (like in team battles)
  • If the two of you completely kill an enemy tank from full HP, each of you will get a kill.
  • If other players also dealt damage to the tank you were destroying, only the person dealing the final hit will get the kill.

Teams can be from 2 to 4 players and each additional player in the team will reduce the team's gun damage by another 10% and increase total score distributed per kill by 10 points. If there is an existing team of 2 or 3 players, any other players wishing to join will send a teaming request to either player in the existing alliance and both (or 2/3) players need to accept it to allow the other player into their alliance.

Example:

A Firebird, 40hp/s damage teams up with a Twins (15 hp/ball damage) and a Railgun (100 hp/shot damage) in a DM battle. Together they see a Mammoth with 300 hp and destroy him. Since there are three players in the alliance, their gun damage is reduced to 80%, so the Railgun deals 80 damage (one shot), the Twins deals 60 damage (5 shots, 12 damage per shot) and the Firebird deals 160 damage (5 seconds at 32hp/sec). Since there are three of them, the total number of points distributed for the kill is 40. The Firebird gets about 21 points for dealing 53% of the damage; the Railgun gets 11 points and Twins gets the remaining 8. Each player gets a kill added to their kill-count.

I believe such a system would make DM matches a lot more interesting and tactical, encouraging more players to enter them ,especially if they like to play with friends. This would be great for times when you want to play in a big battle with your friends, but you can't get 10 of them together to play CTF or TDM with all of you in one team, while playing with one friend and 9 random people usually doesn't end well. Instead, you would just enter a DM match and play together in a team against everyone else.

Idea originally appeared in this topic

Important: It will be possible to turn alliances off in battle customisation settings and play normal DM, if you wish to play alone and don't want to deal with teams.

sorry to disappoint you mafioso but this idea has been suggested already you just haven't noticed - this is like the 3 teams idea except in dm. B)

Three teams is very different. It assumes that every player in the battle is part of one of the three teams, while with this idea anyone in DM can choose to play alone or join a team and have multiple bonuses, as well as disadvantages.

The biggest problem with your method of implementing this system is that players can agree on teams without using this feature and there is no way to detect players doing it. It is not beneficial for anyone to use such a feature to make the team "official" in this battle and become weaker.

Teaming in DMs is something many players consider as a "noob" and unfair thing, and it kinda ruins the "every man for himself" aspect of this mode. So if DMs alone are not popular, this mode will be much less popular. Players will many times be left with no team, which will make more of them go back to normal DMs. Players who really like playing like this can (and do, btw) arrange this kinda battles with their friends without having a special mode for it.

If you want a game mode of small teams, it's better to have a game mode like TDM with more than 2 but smaller teams. That way there's no unfairness for players with no team, and the teams will be clearly defined and will be simple and convenient to join a team.

But I don't expect this to get added into the game either, at least not without players having something to fight for, that it makes sense to compete several teams for it. But maybe it is good enough as a TDM too, idk... only depends on the devs and community management team now I guess... I would say it's worth experimenting with.

i dont think there should be any "teaming system" involve in DM, its really pointless, more teaming = less killing  = less fund = less fund for you its really that simple.

having to team in DM is bad enough and lazy, but what i would prefer for a strategy is even though that you and your friend kills each other in DM, how about to if whoever is in trouble and is dying, let your friend steal the kill from the player, i think thats the closest teaming that it can get.

It's definitely quite beneficial. You get more kills and experience from it, as well as not run the risk of damaging each other by accident. I think it's better than teaming unofficially, despite the reduced damage penalty.

Hi!

My idea is very simple.

If you wanna team with friend or player then you can click on his name and ask teaming. If he/she agrees. Then you cant kill him/her and he/she cant kill you.

Simple!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

*You can team until the game is over.

* if you log out or leave in the battle, then teaming will be automatically canceled.

DM is fun when everyone is killing everyone, it is not when some team up. I try to avoid DM because people team up not because I don't like that mode.

Instead of allowing teams we should create incentives against teams. For example: the person that kills everyone at least one time should get a bonus, if twice double bonus, and so on.
