Game Addiction

Alright, after seeing many of my friends destroy their lives and suffering from it myself, I have decided to discuss this topic.

Games are a virtual wonderland. You can find all types of games and deoending upon your interest, become compelled to play one everyday. The point where casual gaming turns into compulsion, is the point where you finally decide to hide from Real life. You do make that decision consciously or unconsciously. Games always welcome you. You will never be cheated or face any difficulties which you have to face in real life. This is how your mind emotionally attaches itself to a game. You find comfort in that game.

Of course, all this comes at a price. Since most of us here are students, the most obvious outcome is that grades go down. After all, why learn the boring text when you can find satisfaction and enjoyment elsewhere. Who cares how ions are formed or how reactions happen; when you can go online and complete a quest on your favorite game. I found these awesome videos and I believe that I couldn't address this issue any better. So here they are, watch them and learn from it. A guy named James will tell you his real life experience in second video, so watch that carefully.

As for this topic, you can discuss any issues you have. If you believe that you are suffering from Game compulsion, discuss it here or PM me. I will be glad to help you out.

Let's all treat each other with mutual respect and try not to break rules.

Hope this topic will help someone get back on track.

Additional Information:

@kayitsiz made a topic which relates compulsion to the time spent on computer. You might want to view it if you spend many hours in front of computer screen.

I'm not so game-addicted, though definitely addicted a bit. But many players do get addicted. Oh, and about studies, yes, grades do get down. But I study too, and Tanki does not hinder my studies. By the way, can you give me the links to the video? (YouTube is blocked in my country)

so is this some sort of solution for this problem?

You can discuss it here. If you feel that you suffer from Game compulsion, tell us about it. I am sure many would love to help.

Additional, watch the videos I gave above. They provide a deep insight into the issue.

Nope. But I have a good knowledge in these kinds of things. I believe I can be a little helpful to those who need advice on this matter.

i agree this game is addicting..

MMO's usually are addicting. This is due to the fact that every tank on the battlefield is an actual human like us.

But the point of studying is to have knowledge, which which gives you power. Through Power you gain Victory. Through Victory your chains are broken. The Force shall free you.

Okay, random but cool Star Wars aside, knowledge is for you to have a good job, do the right choices, etc. And the point of having a good job, etc. is to enjoy life more. But since you enjoy gaming...a little bit can't hurt :-P

, that dialogue brought back memories.

As for your statement, you are not getting a good job anywhere if you spend your childhood gaming. ;)

To make a point clear, all of us are a bit addicted.

Actually, addiction itself is quite a strong term. Very few people suffer from compulsion and even fewer suffer from addiction. Wanting to play the game everyday is not addiction. It's like junk food. You would love to eat it everyday if you can ;)

When this want turns into addiction, you just cannot spend a minute without thinking about the game. You have to play the game. It no longer is a want but a necessity.
