Forum suggestions

1. Players should be allowed to close their own topics

3. Players should be allowed to block certain users from their topics

(1) I already suggested this, but as of certain reasons, it was only allowed that regular players can hide their topics.

(2) No. Just no. Forum moderators have their jobs, don't take it over.

(3) If moderators can't do this, regular players should be able to either.

Sorry.

  1. Players can hide their posts, well with the consent of a moderator. This maybe an appropriate one.

Players can't just delete others' posts just because of certain reasons that don't violate the rules. Let moderators handle this one.

And I thought ignoring players can solve this problem. All players have the right to post some feedback or discussion.

2 - definitely not. Not sure about the others.

It would solve the spam problem though...if the topic owner didn't want spam in his topic he could easily delete it. If it's his topic he should be allowed to control what goes on in it, unless he does something that is worth a ban, in which case, he should obviously be banned and the topic closed.

Sorry.

1) I've noticed that...it's ridiculous

2) It's not taking their jobs away it's making it so things are right. The only way a moderator pays attention to your topic is if you report at least three posts

3) We should both be allowed to block certain users, it's annoying when this certain player just keeps coming on my topic and spamming it with his annoying posts that I generally don't care to see.

1) What about others posts?

2) The moderators barely even LOOK at your topic if you don't report it.

3) What if we don't WANT their feedback? Maybe we don't care what they have to post or what they post is offensive. If what they post is offensive the moderators will just warn them 5 or 6 times then ban them for a day, which is NOTHING.

1. People you don't like posting their useless comments on your topic (not you, I'm referencing someone else...)

2. I do, and even THEN they don't do anything. Take a look at my Tanki Writing Club topic. I had to personally go PM a moderator and even then the issue wasn't fixed.

3. It starts arguments with OTHER players then, and it's impossible to stop that...

1. People you don't like posting their useless comments on your topic (not you, I'm referencing someone else...) Oh great, let me guess. Someone saying you don't respect feedback?

2. I do, and even THEN they don't do anything. Take a look at my Tanki Writing Club topic. I had to personally go PM a moderator and even then the issue wasn't fixed. Was it appropriate to ban or not?

3. It starts arguments with OTHER players then, and it's impossible to stop that... How does it start arguments with players if you go to settings select a player to ignore?!

1. It's not that, there are a few players who say stuff like, "this topic sucks it's useless" and I don't care what they think about it.

2. Yes, they were flaming

3. What about others? You can't force them to ignore, then the few other players start arguments.

2. Yes, they were flaming So you didn't get the moderator to ban, warn or hide conversation?

3. What about others? You can't force them to ignore, then the few other players start arguments. I don't understand completely.

1. Nothing to say here

2. They didn't do anything and I didn't like all the spam on my topic that went unpunished.

3. I am in charge of my own actions, but say John gets into an argument with Bob (example.) How can you stop that?

How? I was suggesting things for the forum, and by the way it looks people like most of them (except #2, which was a stupid idea considering rule #3 is so much alike to it that it's ridiculous)

The first idea I like.  It'd remove stress from the moderators so they could focus on more important things.  There also seems to be a tendency to lock threads too quickly, before a problem is resolved, or when a mod mistakes a player for asking what equipment to buy when they really want opinions on what others use, or when a mod perceives a suggestion to involve reverting to a previous version because the poster either wasn't aware of the old version or wasn't sophisticated enough to fully articulate how his suggestion was distinct.  If players do the bulk of the deletion work themselves it'd be harder to "look" for reasons to lock every thread.

The second and third ideas are terrible.  It is a bad solution to a problem we don't have.  We need more open discussion not new ways to quell dissent.  Even if we did there would be alternatives without the pointless trolling this would invite.
