The game should be about gear not rank

The rank means nothing on this game, maybe but the first few ranks.

 

Other than that, at higer rank, it's all about ppl buying gear. You can have a high rank but if you don't buy gear you just can't enjoy this game and your skills. 

 

The whole battles needs to be about gear and not about rank - which means nothing.

You just don't understand that ranks give you Crystals and they unlock items. Gear means a lot in Tanki, but you won't be able to buy this gear without the fitting rank. In other words - you are talking utter nonsense.

Don't all games have 'levels'? Higher the level, better the equipment you can buy.

The higher end equipment (M3 and M4) cannot be given at lower ranks due to one reason, skill. Their lack of skill will not allow them to use the equipment to its full potential.

Also, the newbies are unaware of what is what. You can't give them the best equipment at the start since they don't even know what their gameplay style is. At M0 and M1 stage, players familiarise themselves with equipment and it is not a waste of crystals if you buy everything M0. At medium ranks, players identify what kind of combos they like and can concentrate on upgrading only that. By that time, they also learn tricks and strategies according to their gameplay style.

So, saying that ranks are useless is just utter nonsense.

My point was to say that I (and I am sure others) enjoy more a battles where there is no clear advantage of one group due to better gear and it's more of a skills game, which usually ends in the last minute and not from the first second.

The existence of ranks are the only thing that keep this game from being completely pay to win.  They limit the gear you are allowed to purchase until you are more experienced.  They have the added benefit of shielding you from most of the noobs, hackers, scammers, and other riffraff at ranks one can achieve in a weekend with a throwaway account.  My only suggestion would be to remove the bonus xp cards from the store so that rank at least is still earned rather than purchased.

The nonsense in your post is that with the kits the ranks are not really needed.

They were implemented as a goal and to unlock new equipment, and then they bring up kits. Purpose gone.

Examples: WO5's running around with m2 stuff.

Mostly I just wanted to restate it in a way that emphasized the fact that ranks are the one thing that can not be bought.
