[Issue 36] Chronicles of a Nug - Lead's elusive powers

Greetings, readers. The Chronicles of a Nug saga continues on for another issue; my other alternate account's been put to rest for a few days - it's time to defy the odds and achieve a new rank! (Surely you must have seen what I did there, right? Right?). Let's get started!

Before I started battling, I was showered with crystals, which is always a good time, since it's been established many times that the rewards are pathetic. As much as I would love to feel myself comfortable to buy everything that I want, unfortunately, there...isn't anything that I want. It brought me back up to just over 13,000 crystals, which means absolutely nothing at this rank - this is why I need to rank up. Whilst that isn't going to make too much of a difference, it edges me closer to that Firebird M1. Imagine that! A nug with an M1 weapon - how incredible would that be?

An extra 1,000 crystals popped up as well - they came from the Puzzle contest that hosts every week. I entered Puzzle 30, and look at where I placed:

THIRD. BRONZE. I PLACED THIRD (and second) out of 180 winners - that's quick, people. Very quick. Did I use the Internet to find the answer? Nope, I did not - you have no proof. Is it strange that I brought that up unprovoked?

Moving on, before I began battling, I entered my garage to see if there are any kits that are worth buying - as you know, kits are only in the game for a month tops, generally around 10 days; this means there's a possibility something could be available for me to buy. I mean, there's rarely anything good but you've got to keep hope!

coan_3.png

...Really? These disgraces of kits are BACK? Talk about bad timing - I guess we can take solace in the fact the Buffalo kit does not have long left, and that I save more should I purchase the Almighty kit. However, it's still a large let-down.

This shocked me if I'm honest - I was possibly looking to purchase Firebird M1 in the future, and I don't even have M0. I don't even have it in me to buy it now - I guess that, if I do decide to buy Firebird, I'll buy both modifications at the same time.

The rip-off is so real. 100 supplies for 28,000 crystals? Are you serious? Does anybody remember the days where this same supply kit was available for months on end, but only charged you around 16,000 crystals? I cannot say what made them decide the bad discount - but if anybody decided to buy it, they're not making the right play.

Now that I've recapped over where I left off, I think it's time to start earning much needed experience points.

An easy game, as it should be. I joined late, so I'm somewhat happy with the outcome position wise. The game was lost for the opponents before I even joined, with a 22-5 lead - I feel that what separated us from the opponents is that most of the people on our team actively turned their turret - boy, was it a sight to see? I still see Generalissimos that fail to turn their turret yet these guys down here know what they're doing. It's perhaps fair to assume they've already had experience, but I was still genuinely shocked by this. This game began with a lot of lag - two deaths right off the bat without being able to move a muscle. Fortunately, the lag rectified itself (that's something you don't hear everyday...) and I was able to actually be an asset to the team. They had a Shaft-Hornet-Lava who did its very best to show its mettle. However, Lead came through - I was able to just about tank the hits dealt by that Shaft and it did make the difference. I even managed to capture a few flags, which is normally something I don't do, bearing in mind I'm more of a midfield/defensive player.

Let you cap?

I'll also add that there were a few stalemates in that battle - whilst my teammates in general could turn their turret, they could not defend at all. It was one of the situations where you successfully manage to return the flag, but because our defence was so bad, the opponents could simply walk in and waltz out with the flag again, leading to the exact same situation. In other cases, some of my teammates wanted to be sneaky saboteurs - sorry mate, you're not going to get this flag off me. If I flipped, I'd wait for the enemies to buck up their ideas and return it. No remorse.

I guess my team wasn't all that I initially cracked it up to be, huh? Anyways, I went to continue earning experience by hopping straight into another battle, a Polygon CP, but something decided to disrupt my plans - take a look under the spoiler:

As you know, if you do that, you will take some self-damage, but that didn't happen! There's only one conclusion we can make from this. If you perform well using Lead, it activates a secret ability that gives you 100% protection from Ricochet. Simple. There's some sort of glitch. If friendly fire were on, I doubt I would take any damage, although enemies could still damage me. Once I died, my 100% protection from Ricochet deactivated, and I took damage from my own plasma balls again. That's unfortunate. By then, all my enemies were scared off - the only practical play was to leave the battle.

I joined late again - it's actually quite difficult to find a battle that starts from the very beginning, save format battles. This game went pretty well for me, exemplified by the D/L, and I do believe I made a quick impact as soon as I joined. A lot of the opponents were Wasps, and naturally, they didn't know the maneuvres when it comes to dodging Ricochet shots, despite being quite agile. It's unlike me, but I just roamed into the base, and remained there until they got rid of me, which actually took a while. The Vulcan-Hornet on Double Damage did get to me a couple of times, though. As for the reward...let's not.

The battle in Rio was a battle not won. Mini Bulldozers were in high supply, activating Double Damage, and really wrecking our side - at the same time, our side decided the best course of action was NOT to see it through to the end and abandon the match - this perplexed me, bearing in mind we were winning when I joined. They even had a Smoky M1, Wasp M1 on Double Damage, which did the work. In very few cases did I manage to hold my own here, due to awful circumstances - we all know you can't win 'em all, but that's not the way you want to be going down.

WE MADE IT, PEOPLE. WE MADE IT. One last rank before Firebird M1 - however, I'm considering changing my plans. Perhaps I could keep on saving, wait for the Tankman's Day sale (which is on the second Sunday of September), and purchase both Firebird M1 and Smoky M1? If I realistically can reach the rank, I believe it's something I should bear in mind.

This is the battle I ranked up in, and it was quite easy-going until the last stretch. An alternate account decided to come in and use Thunder-Hunter-Dirty and drug constantly - he was even using First Aids! Therefore, I'm proud that he was my ranking kill. What made it simple was that the mosquitoes could not shoot accurately if their life depended on it, and the Freeze-Hunter practically walked into my mines. Notice that I'm around 9 mines worse off since the last battle. I'll admit my mines were not so accurately placed every time, yet somehow, my opponents still walked into them - it had to be because they were oblivious to them, but I fail to understand how that's the case. It was right in front of them. I shouldn't be complaining though - my mines were still put to good use!

The two xxx_(name)_xxx users appeared to be a tandem, and combined with the Thunder-Hunter drugger, I strongly believe that if not for time, the comeback was certainly on the cards. They were able to one-shot me or two-shot me in average circumstances, which meant there was little I could do to stop them, although in some cases, Ricochet's knockback held its own, which enabled me to get the seven shots away. I didn't join too late this time round, but was able to inch into first place toward the end.

I'm nearly there - do I save up for the Tankman's Day sale?

See you around.

The reason those people walked right into your mines is because very few know what a mine even is at that rank, let alone how to be watching out for one. I know I didn't :P

well, since tankmans day is 2 months away, and you're only one rank away with enough crys, i'd get t now. you'd be abl to save alot in 2 months, but you'd have to play alot on this account.
