Hello there ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the first edition of Viewpoints of the Staff!  This article involves questioning some staff members with an off/on-topic question. If you've noticed, this is the opposite of Remaine's Ask the Community. If there's any questions you'd like me to ask in the next edition, feel free to comment below. With that being said, let's get this started!

________________________________________________________________________________________________

The questions for this issue are:

Off-Topic: What is your favorite map of all time, and which combo do you use in it?

On-Topic:  How did you come to applying for your job?

My favourite map is Bridges because it gives a lot of action. I would only join bridges if it's an XP match, so Hornet and Railgun with it.

I personally consider Parma as my favorite map in Tanki. It's a great map to practice long-distance shots with Railgun and improving your accuracy/skill. Since the gameplay in Parma is not too action-active, rather is more about 'precision', you can improve your aiming skills quite easily after playing in Parma for a month or two. Some improvement is better than none whatsoever. ;)

I use Hornet and Railgun often in Parma. Quite fun to use there. Try hitting opponent tanks when you're coming up from the ramps(yes, hit the space bar when you're halfway on the ramp or closer). If you manage to hit that, you'll feel rewarded. :P

My favorite map must be Island. I love that little action-packed intensive map, it's really fun to play, and I quite enjoy it. It offers excellent gameplay regardless of it's small size, and offers very intensive moments when you're trying to capture a flag, or control a point. Furthermore, since the map is so small, the speed of the game is very fast, as you spawn with your enemy right in front of you, one other feature the small size really shows is that every single move you do can very much affect the outcome of the match - a miss, getting flipped, changing equipment, it all can give your enemy a chance to capture a flag or a point. Another matter I like about it, is the low number of players, but don't get me wrong, granted it has only 6 players, but it's still very interesting! And all these 6 players are squeezed in a small area which can produce some interesting situations :D

So back to what I was saying, low number of players means you need a very strategical mind, predicting what they will do next, what you should do next, what your teammate should do, what paint you should use (which by the way should be a paint with most protection against all the 3 of your enemies) and so forth and so on. To conclude, I'd like to say that Island is worth a try if you haven't already tried it, if you didn't, then go on! I bet you'd like it. Happy Tanking :)

My favourite map has to be Polygon. Call me a follower of the crowd, but I love Polygon CP. Even without the orderly format of XP/BP, the battles are fast and exciting, with the balance of the match constantly switching between sides, in a good one at least. I also play the odd Polygon DM when I have the time, but I generally don't drug much which is why I lose most of the time. CTF is a weird one in my opinion. The reverse flags can be confusing, but it does make for more rapid gameplay. Yet again, the positioning means that campers defend and druggers attack, making battles fairly monotonous at times. Obviously my favourite combination in XP is self explanatory, but I have a variation of combinations in the other types. Polygon CP demands a tough hull and widespread turret, so Firebird and Hunter suits it. Polygon DM is mostly the same, with Hunter being my primary hull, but I do use Ricochet just for the better outcomes in 1 v 1 situations. Polygon CTF is a different story though; I attack most of the time, so Hornet comes in handy, and to knock off the enemy defense I use Smoky. The paint I equip always depends on what I'm up against in the battle.

My favorite map is currently Noise, and due to the large variety of combinations, and some that would be hard to use on other maps, battles are usually diverse and intense, with many surprises. My favorite combo, which is Ricochet/Viking, works very well on this map, due to the ramps and tunnels so widely used by both sides, and the various choke-points and small corners. Due to the multiple-level aspect of this map, drop-kills, Ricocheting plasma balls, and surprise attacks make my favorite combo very effective. In CTF, CP, and TDM, My Ricochet/Viking combo suits me well in most cases, but sometimes I find that my Hammer M3 works better for straight-up defense. In DM mode, I prefer Hammer/Viking, mostly because once you run out of ammo, Ricochet is vulnerable and not as effective without a place to retreat to reload, thus my kill-to-death ratio is not as good as possible.

Favorite map: Sandbox

Why this one? Becouse this was my first map on which I was playing. I am in Tankionline World since 2012 I think... And that map is still the best for me. Sandbox map is also good balanced for XP battles. I was been on all maps in game but this is my choice.

Favorite combo in it: Hornet + Railgun + Any Paint in game.

Why this combo? Becouse I usually play XP battles or XP/BP ones on it. If I want to play battle without PRO Pass I am also playing with Railgun and Hornet. In my opinion this is the best choice on that map. That is why I am using it.

Favorite map: Parma

Why parma? I began playing XP very long time ago and i found out i have a little problem with aiming to long ranges so i thought to myself where can i train to improve this then i began playing parma, duels, light format and simply XP 6v6, and its actually worked, my long range's shots got real improved.

Favorite combo to this map: XP+ any paint without rail protection.

Why this combo? because im a clan's player, i always liked playing XP/BP (more XP) since its what requested in most of clans and the most played format at tanki.

Thank you for choosing me!

My favourite map has to be Kungur, but why? I love Kungur because of the different sections of the map, there are some closed areas such as where most of the houses are and then you have other areas which are covered with trees like behind the blue base which allow great game diversity. Since I am a fan of XP, I enjoy playing XP in Kungur as it is also one of the maps used in  Starladder.

Favourite combo in Kungur? My combos change in larger maps as there are more strategies the enemies can use depending on the size of the map. The larger the map, the greater the number of strategies which can be used. For example if the enemy team have a strong defense, a Hammer or Smoky/Hornet and Prodigi would be ideal for sneaking into the trees and surprising the enemy from behind. Rail/Viking and Prodigi is also a great combo which I use more in a drug war.

One of my favourite maps is Combe - I don't play there as often now, but back when I was a lower rank it used to be the only one I played. It's equal for both teams, but a balance is of strong defense and efficient but sneaky offense is needed - having too much of either could end up in a stalemate or simply a load of failed attempts at attacking. Combe is relatively small, but every weapon has its place in, including Shaft, if guarded well.

My favourite combination in Combe is either Mammoth + Thunder, or Mammoth + Freeze. The former, with full supplies and support is hard to counter, especially due to Thunder's splash damage. The spawn zones are very close to each other, making this particularly effective against the opponent's defense. Mammoth and Freeze in Combe acts as fantastic defense, drastically slowing down any attacks. A Mammoth positioned right on top of the flag is never an easy feat.

For the Next Question...

I applied in 2013. Back then I was very active in clan life, also a commentator. Then when CyberSport got bigger and bigger SuperNick95, who was alone leading the CyberSport sections, decided he needed help and he asked me if I wanted to become a CyberSport Moderator. With that, I also became a forum moderator since those 2 were connected with each other. From there on I built on my career as a staffer in many departments of the game.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Forum Moderator: DarkOperative

The main reason why I applied for Forum moderator was because of the small number of moderators there were at the time. There were four or five forum moderators for the whole forum. I decided to apply since I had been a part of the forum for a good amount of time and had good knowledge of the game(I was a Brigadier at the time). My first application didn't go so well and I was declined. After a few months I reapplied, got an answer saying "we'll discuss your candidacy". The next day I got forum powers, was quite happy to know that I can help forum moderators out and keep the forum clean. I was accepted at May 11, 2014. From that day till today I've been a forum moderator and still am. :)

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Facebook Moderator: lordmostafa

I applied to FB mods mainly because there was not many FB mods around, I also like helping very much, solving issues and answering questions, and FB was another place I can share my knowledge with other people and make them happy, so I applied, after a while, I got contacted by FBI saying that I got accepted, and that probably sums it up :D

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Reporter: mcmonkey25

I guess the main reason I applied was because I'd wanted to follow in the footsteps of my friend LordVoIdemort. He had got a job several months before that and had challenged me to get one. I saw Reporter as the one I would be able to best in because I write a lot, so when the applications opened, I couldn't help but try it out. I was with the Tanki Writing Club at that point, so had a couple of articles lined up, which I used towards my application. I also applied because I wanted to give something back, and I had always admired the Newspaper and what they do, so it was amazing when I was accepted. Since then, I also decided to go for Facebook moderator because that was a more continual job, rather than working in batches, which is less my thing.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Chat Moderator: deadtoyou

About a few months ago, I started helping in chat more and more, (answering questions, helping people with problems, reporting violators...) and due to the many violators I saw, I felt like I could contribute to the Chat Moderating effort. I applied the beginning of May, and was accepted. About a month later, thanks to the endless help and support of my friends and colleagues, I was accepted as Full Chat Moderator. :)

I decided to apply for chat mod because I saw a lot of violations of rules in my national language on chat. I wanted to help english comunnity and also polish one. I wanted to be accepted as chat mod as soon as possible cuz I can be more helpful for everyone. Now I am full chat mod since 6 months and this is also good job for my cuz I can learn more about another languages.

Regards!

I was active in CS for really long time and i knew how the entire system works but i could of see some lacks of things at English community which are real good at the Russian one so i decided to apply to be CS official.

I saw other moderators in the forum doing the job I did. It was great seeing the moderators helping players, keeping the forum tidy and so I decided to apply for the job. After I became a full FB mod, I was then asked to work as a Facebook Moderator and so I accepted.

I really would like to become chat moderator, because i've seen a lot of violations of rules in my national language ( well it's not my national but i know the language better than my national language) too on chat and i still see a lot of it. The reason why it's, because there is just one chat moderator who's national language is Finnish  ( levissio ) so i really would like to help with him because i play TO about 3-5 hour per day (summer holiday :3 ) and not only because of that i just love TO so much and all the happiness i got so far from tanki is just so amazing so i want to give back or help tanki somehow and i see this as the best way to do that <3 anyway it was very interesting to know viewpoints of staff members :3 and their storys :) thanks for making this article

Go and apply, I feel like you meet the requirements. It's also nice to hear that your main point is to help. If you do apply good luck. Other than that, thanks! :)

Here's my viewpoint of the press: They want all the attention and if they don't get attention because, say, a small club takes it away, they'll do whatever they can to make sure the club closes by downvoting the topic of the club and trash talking the club in every topic it makes  ;)

Well, it's a good thing you didn't get chosen for this article. Also, reporters write because they like writing. Not because they want all the attention.
