Mines need rework

Recommended Posts

There are mainly 2 types of mine consumption

1. Mine consumption like a recruit

2. Mine consumption like a generallissimo

Let me explain:

1. Like a recruit

Players have few mines, they put just one mine wisely. Mines damage is great, basically one-hits.

2. Like a generallissimo

Players have many mines, they put multiple mines to cover an area. Mines damage is low.

Mines becomes UP and a waste of resources when you reach "type 2"

What is the solution?

Let's change mines to this:

1. You can put just 1 mine.

2. This mine doesn't disappear after you die(except CTF mode, they will stay if you die once)

3. You will explode if you touch an opponent's mine, even whatever you have.

Edit 4. If you try to put a mine, you will; but your old mine disappear.

There is another way to look at mine use:
1) Defensively - as an area denial weapon.  Placing mines to keep someone from going through a narrow path or approach a flag

2) Offensively - Placing mines on top of another tank or backing up so a tank immediately in front of you detonates the mine

Mines do seem underpowered.  With drugs a medium m3 hull can ignore 3-4 of them with double armor and a well timed heal.  They are too easily spammable to be much more powerful though.  Sure you can eventually create a strong minefield, but if you live long enough chances are the match would have already been decided without the mines.

A single mine as powerful as you have described would make offensive mine use overpowered.  People would prefer it to using actual turrets if it was a 1 hit kill.  This could be solved with an increased cooldown but still would not be an ideal solution.  Alternatively mine damage could scale to the player's rank.

A simpler and better solution would be to give mines splash damage.  It would make them more powerful without increasing single target damage.  It would hurt both a flag runner and isida for example.

1.Just one mine, really? Its going to protect the flag.. And what if i want to use it urgently.Easy SELF DESTRUCT :(

2.Then there will be only one new map left in the game, Mine Field...

3.Bye bye heavy and light hulls.

4.Old mine will disappear,my crystals wasted.What???

This may be better, but still more damage is needed.

My aim is turning mine consumption to "like a recruit"

1. You won't need to buy more.

2. If you die twice, the mine will disappear, and also you can just put once.

Do you think you and your 5 friend can put mines to this bridge without dying, and defence greatly without anymore mine?

Maybe just in Camp map :) And this is a good tactic then ;)

3. Yes! :)

4. No!

Mines can't be used for rank-ups or photoshops then!

Yes :(

1. You have one mine right, use it wisely

2. With just 1 mine per player(at most)?

3. :)

4. You will be able to change position.

Even if i use 1 mine wisely,i can not protect my flag.Mines are mostly used for to protect your flag,to kill enemy who is behind you or using mines at places where you are camping at a place. So using one mine at a time will ruin the game play and the idea that a mine will kill every tank it will make heavier and medium hulls a bit useless.
