Hackers everywhere...how to slove the problem?

Recommended Posts

I think the solution would be a change in rules: "Using 3rd party programs, hacks and other illegal scripts can entails FOREVER account bann"

EDIT: It's already in the game, suggested by mistake - I was stupid and ill-informed.

ban youtubers who post videos about 3rd party software

Also a good idea...I think the Tanki community chief may contact with a youtube administrator...but for that Youtube can't deal with such many reports.

Exactly. Advertising "cheats" does not violate any YouTube rules and if it does, then it will be way too much effort for TO team to try and prove that and get an account banned. Considering that there are thousands of accounts with such content, all the effort and time invested in removing that content will have minimal effect on the number of hackers in the game. In fact, YouTube is probably one of the minor methods of marketing cheats and people mostly find out about them from their friends and/or via social networks.

Just because they warn you in the rules, doesn't mean that people will stop doing it. 99% of players read the rules no further than the first few lines.

@MAFIOZA121

The change therefore need, because a forever account bann can offensive other "internet rules" (Payments, ect.)

So shortly: If you bann the hackers forever, we are going to reporting them. But for 1 day bann...not worth it the work.

the reason for the increase in hackers is youtubers who post videos

yea but whats the point of having mods for youtube? we could prevent players from posting inappropiate comments & some hackers use alt acc or the test server to record the video

That would put a lot of stress on youtube developers because then every game will start doing it

Besides 70% of cheats posted there are fake and are for false profitable gains, which is why it is pointless bothering in the first place, if you want a hack, learn coding and create your own

There is no need for the change in Rules, current ones do just fine and are enough to stop any violator in it's place.

If you want to help, report hackers, make a video showing them CLEARLY hacking, and they will be BLOCKED, not banned, blocked. And Tanki is also working on the Anti-cheat system, so you just be patient, all things will be okay :).

(1) I won't be like a mod and say "Tanki is working on an anti-cheat," because the anti-cheat was being programmed since late 2012 (I believe) and probably won't be out for another 4 years :P Instead, I'll say yes, Tanki tried fixing the hacker problems with the auto self-destruction function. Sadly, it is a big fail and many are missing golds because of it. I say before planning anything new, remove the auto self-destruction function.

(2) About the banning YouTubers, I've personally been working on that myself ;) I send all the hacking information videos to Yele, and she takes care of it.

A forever ban is too harsh, 1 month is good enough most will be sick of being banned and not take the risk again.

How much time will the hacker blocked (for example gold catch with jump hack)?

My suggestion is that: Block of Bann FOREVER palyers who hacks...If you bann the hackers for a day or a week, you reach NOTHING

Crystal fines would be good say, take 100K & if the violator doesn't have that much then take away as he earns.

I think hackers who use 3rd party software should be banned or blocked, but are and good peoples who hacked but they want reform. So I think that hackers for first time should be banned for a day but if he do it second time it should be banned forever.

This seems to be largely resolved.  Haven't seen anyone hack in ages and even then it was a light use of fly hack to auto flipover whenever they were on their back.  Even on the forums I've only heard of it being widespread in parkour battles.  The mods had the right idea about hackers.  Account bans, reports, and mods are only a bandaid, a roach motel, a finger in the dam.  For every one you see there are a dozen you don't, and the ones who get banned probably phished 10 more accounts anyway.  Instead they can be combated in two ways:  1) stopping the proliferation or 2) updating the game so existing hack methods no longer work.  The vast majority of users lack the sophistication to develop their own hacks, they generally use clients and other third party tools.  Breaking these tools regularly gives them a shelf life, they will spread less, and be less valuable.  This can be as simple as obscuring a few variables or as complex as adding anti fly zones around every map.

Transforming the game into Unity offers a huge opportunity.  I have no doubt that the devs will do a great job in securing the game, tanki has been one of the most hack-free flash mmos I've played over the years.  They will test thoroughly and  close any obvious vulnerabilities.  Nonetheless I would like to see some additional protections put in place when unity comes out:

1) an announcement that there is a dedicated team working to find any working hacks and break them

2) A bounty of some amount of crystals placed on new clients, tools, and vulnerabilities.  If it works in a new or novel way it is the fastest way to find out about it and fix it.

This way more people would be working for the benefit of tanki thank against it, hacks would be submitted quickly before they had time to spread.
