Bringing back amazing maps!

Recommended Posts

Hi! Maybe you don't remember the old maps which were removed because they were deemed 'unpopular', but they were honestly really, really awesome. I clearly remember Canyon and Deck-9 being extremely popular, and they were honestly very, very fun to play on, specially when they were in their original state before they were changed  (flag positions etc). I asked a few friends of mine who were around at that time and really enjoyed that time. There are still many maps that are extremely unpopular, and in my opinion, very, very bad to play on. e.g: Future.

I hope this idea gets approved and we get those amazing maps back. I do believe that there is no harm since there are worse maps already present. Thank you for reading, upvote the topic if you believe that their return would be good. Hope the developers do heed this important.

Cheers.

Ah yes, I remember the glorious days in Canyon... How I used to play all day long in that map. Maybe fighter would remember too, back when we could name battles, there used to be a daily battle, if not more. All there is these days is XP. Don't get me wrong, I love XP but I miss the good old days where you could enjoy a nice Canyon CTF.

I never played Deck 9 a lot as it got removed shortly after I unlocked it. However, the few games I did have there were intense, dynamic and in short words, fun. Maps like Gubhaka, Duel, Berlin, Scope and Skylark are hardly ever played.... This is a great idea - please bring back maps!

Prior to the promotion of these maps and their removal, they were near dead. I don't think "extremely popular" are the correct adjectives; "occasionally played" seems more suiting from my perspective. I'd also argue that the gameplay wasn't that great in either Canyon or Deck-9. While their unique layouts attribute to appeal, I would much rather play any of the other 8 maps on the list to be removed. I'd only support their return if the cards were reworked.

So you want the unpopular maps gone to make way for the old? Doesn't seem like a viable request. I'd rather see something new.

I'd beg to differ; the unpopular maps existing today are really nonsensical! IMHO, Canyon and Deck-9 in their original form were perfect. The gameplay there was perfect. If you're talking about balance, tell me one map that is fairly large and balanced; it's not possible to bring balance it's about fun you get while playing. They were awesome maps, and I would love their return, even if it requires the removal of maps that are currently dead, and I can assure you that such maps do exist.

Amazing idea! I promise you Tanki, if you add such maps like Canyon back, it would be very popular. Why? Well, because not only were they awesome maps, but we all miss them. And why not? If it's a good thing (like epic maps), it's better to have it than not have it.

Awesome idea.

I was generalizing the gameplay of the maps, whether or not they were balanced is a different story I'm not concerned with. I'm concerned with the fact that people are so infatuated with these two maps, one small and one slightly smaller than a medium map, and all other similar sized maps because thats all people are playing these days. I defend the unpopular maps because some of them are the most beautiful and more intense gameplay maps in the game, but the playerbase isn't capable of seeing that. Simply getting rid of the large maps to make way for older or small maps will promote the laziness that has made a lot of maps dead. Bringing back Canyon and Deck would cause other maps to die.

But they're both GONE, so boding for a lost cause is nonsensical.

Ideas regarding changes to the actual Tanki Online to its previous versions, ... are not accepted.

I think secretly Canyon had way too many complaints for sabotage on it form people taking the flag and hiding it in secret areas, while Deck-9 was too unbalanced. But honestly I'm not sure why they were removed. It's not like having 3 extra maps hurt the game at all....

I understand your point, but an alternate solution would be the removal of no maps at all, but addition of old maps that were actually enjoyable. I do agree with your opinion about some of the unpopular maps but my perspective about removal of unpopular maps was to agree with the mindset of tanki's developers. The player-base is incapable of seeing the potential of some of the unpopular maps, and in turn they grant more importance to smaller and less dynamic maps.

I would really tell tanki to change their policy towards updates. If there was something good in the game and you removed it, what harm will it do if you return it?!

Another thing that I would like to ask the developers would be that...why do you even need to remove maps? You already have a shortage of good and playable maps, why do you want to reduce the list even further? I don't thing that boding for a 'lost cause' is a bad thing, bringing bad updates and keeping them is a bad thing, and then arguing that they can't be reversed? That's nonsense. What are they doing to make new maps anyway? Nothing, they remove maps but don't bring good maps in their place.

GGWP, tanki.

I 100% agree, theres maps weren't the "most popular" but they certainly weren't dead. There was always a few games of each on the servers.

Heres some of my screenshots of each, I played in one of these two maps at least once everyday. They were always enjoyable and different each time.

I do get your point, however, since you're an experienced player, I reckon you would know what it was like to play in those maps? They were much more fun to play in compared to the popular - non-XP maps we have today. I would say the sole map that has actually made it through, is Silence. If a map was liked by the community and got removed, what is the harm in bringing it back if there are other maps that NEVER get played? Which is the last time you played a Gubhaka? Or a Duel? Canyon and Deck-9 provided dynamic, intense and in simple words 'fun' gameplay which in my opinion, is all a map needs. Both of them had their own faults but then again, no map is perfect. Today the majority of our players are limited to small maps. The root cause of this being a lack of opportunity for them. I ranked up playing in maps like Sandal, Fort Knox, BoomBox and SandBox. Advancing to bigger maps like silence. If the developers implement a change into the game and the players dis like it, then I deem it only correct to remove or at least improvise upon it? In the end however, as everyone else knows, this topic shall go by, un noticed.

Every map can always be reworked.

I never played on Moon Silence, or Canyon. But I'd like them to return to have a chance at it.

Moon silence was fun, your hull always landed on its feet, and also when jumping off from the Blue base you can do spirals in the air. The skybox in Madness was what used to be in Moon Silence. It did however attract hackers. Canyon was nice. Before the Rebalance of maps however, i liked Canyon when it had the tunnels. It was easy to annoy the reds by placing mines in there.

They should also bring that tunnel back to subway, that map is really unpopular since they removed it

Oh yeah i totally forgot about those. It was funny when it was a stalemate and one team would hide under there but you could still see the flag popping out of the ground.
