Experiments

Recommended Posts

This is a really simple idea, but I'm sure that it would solve some of the...well, more unpopular updates.

Make every update an experiment. If we don't like it, change it and present us with a better one or abolish it!

Always perform experiments in the test server! This will not affect general gameplay but will still provide good feedback.

Remember that this community prizes quality over quantity--we can afford to wait, we're not all going to leave at once if the game goes unupdated for a few weeks. Generally, server peaks rise even if no new updates are implemented--new tankers will discover the game and old ones will stay. And so, this makes good business sense, and rolling out new updates too quickly is not needed.

I agree 100%. I'm so glad Tanki made this latest update (Experimental Camera Speed) an experiment. If it were an actual update, I doubt developers would remove it.

Well, test server is extremely laggy and not always 100% of what it would actually look like in the game. Besides, not many play in test servers.

Nice idea.

I think that Tanki should keep their experiments in the Test Server and not on the real servers.

There are professional testers for a reason, if they tried it on the Test Server first they would've known that it causes FPS drops. Maybe it's a good idea if they would post it on the mainpage when Test Server is online to test some updates, I'm sure more players would play on the Test Server for a few minutes. Long enough to say if they like the update or not.

They already post on the homepage when test server is open for testing of an update. But higher ranks like to play the real game more rather than play on test. And lower ranks just play on test server to have M3s.

Hmmm, haven't noticed that, probably because I always play on Standalone and don't take a look at the homepage/notifications. Then I don't know how to solve this, I just think that these experiments on the real servers are not the correct way to test them.

Even if you play Tanki on a browser, most high players type in "t" and "tankionline.com/battle-en.html#/server=RU1" comes up. No one goes to the homepage.

But I do agree, it doesn't sound right. But neither does test.

How about the Crystal Drop Experiment... No one wanted it except a few try-hard XP earners. And then it became an update... What kind of democracy is this?

And BTW... the Camera Speed one... I hope doesn't stay forever! The post has hundreds of dislikes...
