[Issue 36] Becoming a Tanki Pro

Thanks for the feedback, guys!

I have read the article...It's very nice, gj...but I have a question. How do you become a pro player, are you chosen by the admins?

There's no official status or rank of 'pro player'... it's just a description used by others for the best players who have mastered the battlefield. For example, many people consider the players in the clan ARCADE to be 'pro' (i.e. professional) in terms of the standard at which they play the game.

I wanna ask a question regarding the article. You said join an Starladder team in the appropriate way, so what is the appropriate way?

Good question - I contemplated explaining in the article itself, but decided against doing so in the end. Anyway, appropriate ways would include enquiring about joining/applying for teams with forum topics in those topics, or by contacting the leader(s) of the teams via a private method of communication such as forum PM or Skype (many put their Skype names on their Starladder profiles).

Inappropriate methods of trying to join Starladder teams, or any clan for that matter, include asking in server/battle chats or messaging on their Starladder page, which will almost always be unsuccessful, unless you happen to know the leaders/players in the team well. Even then, a more formal or private method of application would be preferable.

I agree with you. I don't recall writing anything along the lines of Generalissimo = pro...

Being professional means being paid to do a profession, such as sports or a certain field in science...Hence a "pro player" is a person that makes money playing video games (in this context).

That's not the sole definition of the word - and not the one I made use of, as I clarified right at the start of the article.

shoot, i feel silly. I normally just assume when the word "pro" is used it's used in the most uneducated way possible. :S

That pretty much covers everything. Hopefully you learnt a thing or two, and any feedback or comments would be appreciated. What do you think it takes to be a pro? Join in the discussion and post your own thoughts below![/color]

Great article Goldrock, though I would consider these players to be specialists and pros at Xp/BP, there are many, many types of pros in Tanki.

From the skilled gold hunter with the uncanny ability of finding battles with golds dropping and master at positioning to steal the gold out from under everyone, the lonely mammoth defender protecting the flag at all costs, helpful isida keeping the team healthy, the campers with Vulcan, and shafts mowing down attackers from key vantage points, masterful supply users with uncanny ability to use the right supply at the precise moment required to lead the team and maintain his d/l throughout an entire battle, the takeover teams that can find ripe battles to devour, the sneaky wasp that can travel the maps undetected and cap flags out from under the opponents nose, the list goes on and on...

not to mention the antagonists that can confuse, frustrate, and annoy the opposing team and chat rooms with the utmost skill.

Then there are the eloquent players such as yourself that can write truly wonderful articles, stories, and critiques.

The pros of Tanki are many and all deserve to be recognized as professionals that make this game interesting and engaging to play.

just have fun....

Indeed, having fun is a major aspect of playing. But some like to read guides and improve their knowledge base to be even more competitive on the field, hence having more fun and fund. xD
