               How Can You Catch a Goldbox?

    Many catch more goldboxes than other players. Others have longed to catch at least one goldbox but hasn't even gotten one. There are even tankers that catch like hundreds of goldboxes. These people do not catch more goldboxes because they have better equipment and turrets. It is because they know WHICH equipment to equip and how they will use the terrain to their advantage of seizing the goldbox. Lets see what are some tips and tricks you can use to catch a goldbox. But first, what is a goldbox? How and when does it drop? How do you know if it is dropping?

              

       Lets first talk about what a goldbox is since many beginners may have not seen one before. A goldbox is a a box that is gold(shown above) that has a big 1000 and whoever catches it will be awarded 1000 crystals. You can tell if a goldbox is dropping because one the top of your screen it will say Gold box will be dropped soon. Also a siren will sound to warn you that a goldbox is dropping. Most people don't attack eachother and they drug so they can catch it. You know where the goldbox is going to drop because when it says a goldbox will be dropped soon, a drop zone will appear. If you do not see it, you have to react quick in order to find it. Recent updates has changed how the goldbox and when it drops. Now goldbox will drop 20 seconds after the warning instead of dropping right away. And this part is the part where many beginners may not know. Many beginners go for the dropzone right away. That is not always good, as you can get killed quickly if you are right in the middle, especially if you have wasp or hornet. But some dropzones are underneath builgings so it can't drop. Then what happens? Well you will have to go right away on the dropzone because instead of dropping, so goldbox will just apppear on the floor. We will get to that in more detail later on. First, lets talk about the history of goldboxes.

 

                                      History of Gold Boxes

    In December 3rd, 2009, players saw a strange box that dropped it in a battle that worthed 1000 crystals. Many players were discussing about it and were wondering what and where did it come from. The topic blasted everywhere in chat in forums everything! In 11.12.2009, the goldbox values were decreased to 100 bacause many buyers complained that people are getting so many goldboxes that the buyers say there are no point of buying anymore. Then later on it changed back to 1000 crystals. Then dropzones are added for every map so the players know where the gold box will drop. At 8.8.2012, notifications are added so they know when the goldbox is going to drop and thats important. Goldboxes also started to worth more on holidays such as tanki's birthday, April fools day, and Holloween.      

 

                                              Hulls

  Choosing the right hull is one of the most important thing you have to know in order to catch goldboxes. Hulls are the base of tanks which determines the speed and armor of your tank. There are fast hulls with low armore, hulls with heavy armor but lacks speed and even medium hulls. Lets see how you can catch a golbox with the good hulls. And also lets look at the hulls that are not very good for catching goldboxes.

 

     Dictator

    

   Dictator is not a very popular hull because of the lack of speed, but believe it or not, its one of the best hulls to use for catching goldboxes. Dictator is actually pretty fast and high ranks and has exccelent armor, making it good for surviving harsh attacks while getting goldboxes. But one of the main reasons Dictator is good for catching goldboxes is the strength, height, and length. Dictator is a really long hull. So when catching goldboxes, there are more possibilities of a goldbox landing more on your tank then your enemies. The power is also important. It can push other tanks out of the way, so if the goldbox is about to land on them, you can ush them and you can get it! The height is one of the most beautiful elements for Dictator. Its imense height can let dictator catch goldboxes before the goldbox even touches the other tanks! Overall Dictator is a great hull to use for catching goldboxes.

 Wasp and Hornet

   Wasp and Hornet is an agile and fast hull but lacks many armor. But no worries. When using Wasp and Hornet, it is recommended to use your armor drug so you have twice as much as armor as your normal wasp, making it almost the same amount of armor as other hulls. Many people have trouble catching goldboxes because they are not able to find the dropzone in the first place because the map is so big. And most of these people are using heavy hulls such as viking, mammoth, and titan. This is when wasp's speed come in handy. It can run around maps extremely quickly, finding the map in no time. But luckily, some heavy hulls also find the dropzone. This is where it gets tricky. Try to find the right timing to go in the crowd. Then the other tanks will slo go for the dropzone, making you stuck in the middle. Then you get the gold. But some tankers are smart. Most of them are concentrated on the goldbox so much that they don't attack the person in the middle so they die before catching the goldbox. But some just attack the middle. At this part, you have your armor drug, and always keep a repair drug. So when your about to die, use your reapair drug so you are a full health again , then get the gold.

 Mammoth and Titan

      Mammoth and titan i a great hull because of its high armor. But the problem with Titan and Mammoth is that it is extremely slow, making it hard to find the dropzones. That is why it is always recommended to use them on small maps such as hill, arena, ans polygon. But some people still use it one big maps, which is ok. Here are some tips when you are using Mammoth and Titan. Instead of using your armor drug, use your speed drug so it can increase your hulls speed by 30 percent. It might seem like a little but it is actually alot. After you find the dropzone, its easy. You just push everyone out of the way since Mammoth and Titan is the strongest hull in the game. Overalll Mammoth and Titan is a good hull to use for goldboxes in small maps.

   Viking

   Viking is not very recommended for catching goldboxes. It is not that fast nor is it really strong. But many people use viking so I will give you some tips. When using Viking, try not to jump from a very high place due to its skinny side. The best way is to go in the midddle or go for the goldbox is at the RIGHT timing. That is important.

               When goldboxes Appear Instead of Dropping....

     When goldboxes appear instead of dropping try to go on the dropzone quick. But heres a tip: Did you know that When you are on top of the person that is on the dropzone and the gold box appears, the person on top gets it. So if you can, try using your guns recoil to get on top if you are using a light hull. Swing your tank back and shoot. Use turrets such as hammer, railgun, smoky, or thunder, or shaft.

 

                                   TIP:

   Before you go for the goldbox, look around you. If there is a higher ground, always go for it so you can jump and get the goldbox!

The moment when you are in a battle and you see
Gold Box will be dropped soon
There are a few things you can do to ensure that you take the Gold Box.
First of all:-  Using the Right Power up
If it is a battle where supplies are allowed then take armor because armor is very important while catching gold boxes as it will double your health and similarly decrease your chance of dying by 2.
PS:- If you are using a medium hull you really don't need Armor if you can manage, if not . Don't take a risk.
Second of all:- Search for the Gold Box Drop Zone.
This is a place where generally people lose their chance at the gold box. A very simple thing is to be done at this stage, when you see tanks going away from one place DO NOT go there , because if the gold box was falling there they wouldn't be moving away from it. Instead try following them. This can really help.
Thirdly:- Hide
Once you have found the Gold Box Drop Zone hide at a somewhat comfortable place where your tank is not spotted so you can wait till the Gold Box reaches low and take it.
This is really essential because if you remain open near the Gold Box Drop Zone you are likely to get killed and lose all your chance at the Gold Box.
Lastly:- Perfect Timing
 Now once you are near the Gold Box and you see it dropping make a dash for it once its really low, push other tanks, get them out of the way and then, Take it  :)

I am highly surprised to see yet another really strange topic - the author seems to approve and even encourage newbies to hunt Gold, which is 100% the same as to encourage them to sabotage !

 

Gold is a curse for this game, it is destructive, it's against any ethics and morality and should be removed from all team modes !

It may sound strange to many of the recent inhabitants of the TO servers, but the team modes are there to promote team-work, partnership and constructive assistance amongst the team mates.

Gold is the opposite of all that - when it's about to fall, many tankers lose whatever little reason they might have had, abandon their duties (defenders, midfielders, attackers, doctors, etc) and dash for this yellow piece as hypnotized.

Once, when there were less noobs in the game, it was considered a very bad taste and a total lack of integrity to hunt for gold, instead of doing the best for your company at your post ... and not helping the team is also called sabotage and should also result in severe punishment !

 

I am tired of fighting constantly against the gold madness, so will stress once again, that it can be a favorite item only for kids, noobs and hackers - sane players do NOT care about falling boxes - personal benefit is NOT a priority in a team game ... but it takes an intelligence a bit above the average to understand that !

 

Yet, if the developers, in their funny attempts to attract adolescents with "game candies" want to keep the yellow box, then it's better to make a special CTG mode (Catch The Gold mode) - there all the crystals might accumulate into golds, falling whenever the fund reaches 1k. 

Perhaps, then all who lack the team sense will leave the team modes free for normal players.

I use viking but i get many gold boxes in Polygon  CP :) i like my tank [hull] :) better is Viking,  sometimes Dictator becomes more popular  in catching  Gold boxes :( because it jumps on tank [Viking can also do]. Wasp have chance  of getting gold box if we use hammer with wasp as it shoot and get up tanks :) [ destroys easily :(] ok nice tips for gold box :) I like it. I am not beginners :)

Well said. All too often at least half the team suddenly runs off from their task to look for the gold. Rarely am I in a game where there's some maturity and commitment to actually playing as a team and not be distracted by some "candy".

I use Viking M1 but when the gold box alarm comes I equip Mammoth or wasp to take gold boxes !  :P  :D  :lol:
