Voice chat in battles

Recommended Posts

Many of you already know voice chat. It is one of the things that make team gaming easier and more fun.

Yes it is true, it has advantages and disadvantages but it all depends how you use it.

Some of the advantages are:
> Easier coordinating around the map,
> Knowing of opponents location,
> In CTF, knowing the location of team player with opponent's flag,
> For players with Isida also known as medics, knowing where are players with low HP,
> For players with Shaft also known as snipers, know if they were spotted,
> ...

Some of the disadvantages are:
> No protection for cursing,
> Voice chat is perfect things for spammers,
> Some of the people have "annoying" voice,
> It can be difficult to understand if more than one is talking at the same time,
> ...

Because of the "annoying" people and spammers the great invention was made called >>mute button<<.
I'm Just joking but it would be great to have it in scoreboard or somewhere for quick use so you can mute each player individually.

What do you think about voice chat? Should it be added to game or do you think it would only ruin the game experience?

This is a very popular idea. I'm sure it's already been discussed plenty of times by developers, so now it's just a question of whether or not they will want (and be able to) add it.

Ummmm.... I think people use Skype for voice chatting even in normal battles or Clan wars so I think tanki won't do this voice chat thingy anyways nice thinking :)

That is true, people do use programs like skype or TS3 but that takes more time to set up when you play with random people and sometimes they don't have any of programs to use (they could just get the program but some take registration and all that would take too much time and many don't have patience to do so). What I was thinking when you're playing with random people it would be much easier and faster if voice chat would be thing in game.

I'll like this topic because I won't have to use my skype.

If tanki is like COD or BO2, I'll like it.

A chat in game where you need a HEADSET or something. I like this idea very much.

Agreed!

Some people won't know how to, and censorship in normal chat is already bad enough. Plus, people are always finding ways to get around the censorship using dots, dashes, etc. So I say no on this.

I would pay crystals to use voice chat, similar to how pro battle pass works. That being said it would surely help fund tanki for future updates and would get me playing even more.

If they do add it they could also add an option to pro battles that allow or dont allow voice chat use.

Or hey could even just add voice chat as a pro battle option only

Maybe if the voice chat could be toggled on/off :).

Agreed, and option to muted players

Simply add another part to the tutorial when creating a new account, as for already existing players add a voice chat tutorial notification on log in. As for censorship it would all have to be up to the players to be mature enough to hand the situation appropriately.

^ I don't think someone would say 'F.---' over a mic

Should try out some Call of duty online and listen to some players, and thats just one game

I agree with the mute button. But i would like something such as group chats, that way you and your friends can talk privately, without the other players hearing their conversations.

u wanna ruin skype for us?

Ruin skype for you? I don't understand what you mean by that. I mean skype is used for more things than tanki online game. Or do you have a community on skype? If so you can still use it instead of in game voice chat. If it's not any of those, can you explain how in game voice chat would ruin skype for you?

Warrior486!

Hi. I made topic like this like 1 month ago. I think it is pretty good idea. You can check out mine here: http://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=223457&hl=

Hey smurf55555, I looked at your topic and yes it is similar. Sorry that I made same topic as you did but when i was searching for one on voice chat I couldn't find any, so I was thinking that there is no topic on voice chat.

I agree that the voicechat should definitely be included in the game, but it's

a subject that has to be treated with great care and attention, otherwise

it might end up bringing more harm then benefit to the entire community,

and the game with it.

If, or should I say WHEN voicechat is included, because the game frankly

deserves to have it, there are several ways it could be efficiently filtered so

players can get the best of it.

The first major thing the voicechat would need are channel implementation.

Battles should have several channels and players would have to choose

which channel to join into by typing in a specific command, most likely it

would be just "/join ch1" or something like that. In order to provide ungarbled

and precise communication between players, each battle should have

several separate voice channels.

"Globalchat" would be the global voicechat available to all players

Depending on the team players are in, they could use the several channels:

"Voice1" would be the first channel available to their team only

"Voice2" would be the first channel available to their team only

"Voice3" would be the first channel available to their team only

So basically, every battle should have SEVEN separate voice chats, or

maybe FIVE, team channels 1 and 2, so players can communicate easier.
