Improvement of the mobile version for the forum

Please, please, please, I don't know how much I will have to stress upon this.

 

Have you ever used the mobile version? It's a pain to use it!

The interface is so mushy and hard to use, you can't even skip to the last page of a topic, imagine going through every page on Photo of the Day. Meh, sometimes the login doesn't even register and my account gets blocked from usage for 14 minutes. I beg for an improvement, please make the interface better and more user friendly. If possible, make an application for it that's downloadable on android etc. Will be appreciated!

What's the purpose of the mobile version if we could all just use the full version? Well, you see that the full version is certainly NOT mobile friendly. The reason the mobile version exists is to improve usability on mobile devices.

Well, you actually can skip to the last page. Just change the page number in the URL to an extremely large number (like 10000) and it will automatically redirect you to the last page.

 

 

 

 

All said and done, the mobile version can actually use some reworking. Starting with showing ranks, of course.

I've used forum on mobile several times. Yes it is quite complex to use with such a small interface on the display screen. That is only when I hit the "Full version" option. The default mobile version for the forum isn't that bad. It misses some features from the original version, but is enough for replying on topics, checking PMs & replying to them, viewing profiles etc.

That's why it's "mobile". Simplified, so that it is easier to handle on mobile devices.

It definitely is easier to handle, but some crucial parts like upvotes/Down votes and rank is missing.

I agree that there can be little improvements in the mobile version, but until that, I have a simple solution to you problem...

1) Open a page you want

2) If the first page opens, click "Next" for once

3) After that, click in the address bar. You will notice the word "...&page=2" somewhere at the end...

4) Just remove the 2 and type 1000 there(or any value thats large enough)

5) Click go...

You will observe that its now the last page that has been loaded...

I use this when there are too many pages..and it does work...coz the value that you put as 1000 doesnt exists, so it automatically jumps to the next closest calue, which will be the last page obviously...;)

P.S. - if you think about it, the mobile version is supposed to be lot less loaded as compared to the full versions..mobile versions are very lite. I use them sometimes over my PC also, in rare cases when i have bad connection and loading takes time..coz the mobile version loads too fast..

 

I myself operate forums through mobile 50% of times...and i find that its great...still i would like if smal small improvements are made..

I agree that the mobile version is not supposed to be heavy, but the technology really is better, I've seen many websites offering the same services on both mobile and desktop version and both being user friendly. I guess it's not that common for now, but it was just annoying at that time.

 

Oh, and thank you to everyone who helped me out with the last page thing, really appreciated.
