The excessive use of special fonts is normally applied on clan topics.

 

For a simple/general topic, I'd say there isn't that much of a need to fill it up with fonts. Use special fonts for a headline or two. Use a different font(from the forum's features) for the topic body; to make it a pleasntful read for the readers. That is pretty much all you need for a start.
