concept of hulls and turrets in tanki.. join the conversasion

Recommended Posts

A tank gun is the main armament of a tank. Modern tank guns are large-caliber high-velocity guns(like thunder and shaft), capable of firing kinect  energy penetraters(smooky is based on this), high explosive anti-tank rounds(less influence in tanki but should be introduced in game play), and in some cases guided missiles. Anti-aircraft guns can also be mounted to tanks( should be introduced in tanki as a a new turret).

IF U LEAVE HULLS... There is little to do. Designing a hull is more complicated. U need new ideas and u have to make sure that they do not look the same as any other hull in tanki ... so good luck to developers :)

Actually, in real life tanks generally fire two types of ammo:

-Kinetic energy penetrators (sabot rounds). These rely on velocity to penetrate through the armor of tanks, and explode into fragments once they are inside, killing or injuring the crew and crippling the vehicle. The effectiveness of these shells depends on the distance (shells lose speed over distance, and therefore penetrating power) and  the angle of armor (as sloped armor is effectively thicker).

Examples: Smoky, Vulcan, Railgun, Hammer

-Or point-of-contact based explosives (HEAT rounds or missiles). These get their power from the actual explosion point where the shell explodes, not the velocity of the incoming shell. As a result, these types of projectiles do not lose energy over distance.  However, they use the force of the explosion to burn through the casing of the tank. With these shells, even if you miss, you could inflict damage to the exterior functions of the tank (tracks, laser sight, etc.)  However, these shells are often slower and therefore harder to aim at the (moving) target.

Examples: Thunder, Shaft,

In real life, a railgun is a compact carbon/metal core that is attached to magnetic rails. An electric current is passed along the rails, creating a massive burst of magnetic field, throwing the shell out at more than 7 times the speed of sound.  This is a kinetic energy penetrator-type weapon but it has MUCH, much more impact force (Able to penetrate a steel wall 5 feet thick). However, these cannot reload as fast, and the recoil means it is not effective on tanks and vehicles.

A laser is a cost effective type of weapon.  It uses concentrated bursts of light to melt a target. Advantages of laser include that it costs mere pennies per shot (as opposed to shells that cost lots of money), it is extremely accurate, and it's "projectile" travels at the speed of light.  However, the current military lasers are not as powerful as the other types of shot.

Isida makes no sense whatsoever.

Ricochet's bounce is totally fantastical but twins and rico are supposedly composed of plasma.  There are many problems associated with plasma firing guns in real life but they are theoretically possible. Supposedly, plasma would be created by passing electrons through a heated gas and would be thrown out by a controlled magnetic field. It would kind of function like a long-range flamethrower where it would melt any solids it came across. How it would manage to reach any effective distance is the question that prevents it from being currently researched and implemented.

Freeze is liquid nitrogen, firebird is napalm, there is actually a good article on freeze and firebird entitled "the science behind freeze" and "The science behind firebird" in Amateur Writing.
