Get Windows 10 Today! NOW!

Recommended Posts

Today Microsoft started giving out the win 10 to people who had reserved it, but not everyone is going to get it today itself. But we cant wait few more days, can we?

You can trick the system to start your download right now.

Method 1

Follow these steps:

1. DELETE all contents from C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download.

2. Then run this command in the cmd: wuauclt.exe /updatenow

Now head over to windows update in control panel, you will find win 10 downloading ;)

This is all LEGIT, just tricking the system to give you update first :D

Method 2 by @BuriedSky

For those who have yet not started installation and want to do it in a safer manner:

  • All you need is a genuine copy of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, Microsoft’s Windows 10 Media Creation Tool, and an Internet connection
  • Download the tool
  • In the dialog, Next button and Windows 10 will start to download, which may take a while if you’re on a slow connection.
  • There are a few automatic processes.
  • Hit “Accept” on this screen when demanded.
  • Some check are done...and THEN!! Finally, the preparation is complete.
  • You can change what the Windows 10 installer will keep, but be warned that if you hit “Back” you’ll have to go through the updates and checks again.
  • Then the installation starts...Your PC will restart several times....This might take a while...but all automatic.
  • After this is all done, go through the standard process of setting up the new OS. You have successfully completed the installation of your windows!

For a complete and detailed guide, go to How to Download and Install Windows 10. And, here's the link for downloading the Media Creation Tool from the Official Microsoft Website - Windows 10

For those who have old PC, they'll need to run the application as administrator.

To do that, Locate the Media Creator Tool on your hard disk( its usually found in This PC -> Downloads) --> Right Click it --> Click "Run as Administrator"

How to go back to previous OS.

Don't like windows 10? or are there too many bugs that you can use it ? No worries there is a way to go back to your previous OS with few simple steps

1. Go to start -> Settings

2. Go to "Update & Security"

3. Go to recovery tab and click on get started option under "Go back to windows x(the previous version of your os)"

Does it work?

I mean is there any problem if I wait for it to get updated automatically?

yes it does work.

you can wait, but it may take time. Microsoft is giving it kind of one by one (not literally) it could take some time. If you can wait there no problem in waiting.

Can we skip the first step of deleting the files?

It says "wuauclt.exe/update now" is not found, make sure you typed the spelling correctly ..

Same error even if I delete the files and retry...

Edit:

Hey wait..I did a mistake...I wrote the command in run...forgot that I had to type it in cmd...

OK Thank You!! The download started....

Now I can't wait for the 3GB to be downloaded..*excited*

The topic deserves a +1...

Is it a good idea to get Windows 10 no matter what? Since my laptop is quite old I am afraid it will slow it down extremely, even though it says my laptop is compatible and meets all the requirements.

Its all up to you and your liking...

I started the download in both, my desktop and my laptop....as they both are quite new too...:P

Well, Windows claims that W10 will be quicker and all that kind of stuff, but I'm afraid that because my laptop is quite old (4 years or so, also not the most expensive one) it will run slower in the long run if I upgrade to W10.

Maybe create a backup disk and then start the download...

so if you think that your windows are more slower now, then you can restore it back to previous...

Do you mean to get the update by normal way ? it may depend on Microsoft when they decide to give you lol

Do you think Win7 is better than Win10

Haven't used win 10 yet, so cant say if its better or not. But from the reviews, i think Win 10 is better.
