fairly transferring current Tanki accounts to Unity

Recommended Posts

i had a nightmare last night with the following plot:

-tanki online Unity got relased.

-account were not transferred for a random reason like games too different, cant remeber.

-flash tanki was closed some days after with an excuse.

-i saw my 150€ i invested in the game being flushed in the toilet.

-i go in tanki online office and rampage thought it destroying everything.    Nahh, that line was made up but someone will probably do it if this happens.

No problem! That is if you buy me the flight ticket... ;)

really, i cant wait to get more (i hope positive) news about this.

lol if that happens i might book you a flight that stops at Perm, Vilnius, Malta and Shangai. you wont miss a single office. everything payed by me, hotels, food, flight and a basseball bat.

disclaimer: any citation to actual places or peoples are purely casual. the poster reserves the right to not buy anything he is promising in the lines above to the user Lord-of-the-Snipers. i dont actually own a bassebal bat nor i really want to harm anyone or drive someone to hurt someone else. everything written here has been posted for lulz and not for evil means.

Erm... Is this a garage refund?

We've had one in the past, late 2012 to be exact. I would like my 400,000 Crystals back!

I didn't know that players could ever purchase exp with crystals.  It must have been offered before I started playing Tanki.

Crystals for the amount of exp a player has?  Interesting...

Yes I remember it was a feature a while back right after I started playing

If they can't decide the actual value of a garage they should at least give the devoted players from old tanki a sum of crystals such as 50 or 100k to get them started in unity tanki. Upvote if you like the idea!

I don't know how the user profiles are stored in the game but...

It should've been like just a text document formatted as a database :P

Developers, listen...

If our accounts aren't transferred...

YOUR UNITY IDEA IS GONE.

I'm not going to try and play if we start from recruit again.

If you finished developing just run a test server for it... :)

Unless we get the amount of crystals we already invested in TO to be transferred to Unity.

Many of you write in a way, as if they have never heard thereasons for that whole issue.

tanki stated, that the game will be different in many aspects (ranking system, monetization model, ...9 and therefor it is hard to map equipment and ranks 1:1 to the new system.

Rail M3 is not valued at 218 300 crystals, thats the buying price. But what about all other previous modifications? At refunds we got the price of all modifications back. For Rail M3's value it would be m0+1+2+3 = 346 100 crystals.

But I guess the transfer will be fair now because you'll be able to see eachother's statistics and garage etc....

tanki stated, that the game will be different in many aspects (ranking system, monetization model, ...9 and therefor it is hard to map equipment and ranks 1:1 to the new system.

there is a flaw in that system:

the developing team already stated that they will stop working on flash tanki after the statistics update to speed up the unity developing process. Do you know what happens to a game that does not receive any update? after some months, the player base drastically drops, untill only some hundred of veterans will have to forcefully leave tanki because the servers will be too pricey to mantain.

Here is the main flaw: if the flash tanki player will not be able to move their garages to the new version, they will be basically kicked in the mouth as a "thank you" for mantaining the game and paying for it during the last years. this is a thing that just Cant happen in my head.

i really doubt the game will have extremely different mechanics. there will still obliviously be ranks and crystals, and the current equipment pieces. all what everyone is asking here, is the ability to move our garages to the new game, because we just cant "keep playing the flash version" as is assured it will not last long. really, imagine a player who has archieved a high number of m3's by spending lots of money and/or effort in this game. is it right to make him start over?

I know, you gotta give them something that more or less reflects what they have.

Therefor I wrote in my posts about giving them the same _power_.. instead of giving them the same _garage_items_ and ranks.

If the game is really changed as they hinted.. then it's not so easy to transfer goods. It will be easier to transfer power.

And if the game would be the same, there would never have been a question about transfer.

we will see with what kind of changed mechanics and monetarisation they come up with

Oh I dont want to be a Recruit again driving that puny Hunter-Smoky M0 :(

Wouldn 't make much sense as well IMO.

Imagine us experienced TO Flash players going head-to-head against the real newcomers

who will start their first Tanki-battle ever in TO Unity:

all Maps would better be called "Massacre" in that case.

You seem to be one of the few that really understood the situation. We can only wait and hope...

I dont know what will happen if the new game follows hard Pay-To-Win mechanics... stuff like monthly Premium accounts, Hard limits for the non-premium users, Premium currency like the old Rubies concept that popped in the old Tanki 2.0, Overpowered items like new kits or new upgrades avaible only for premium currency... Nightmares! Unity Tanki would be dead since the beginning if nightmares like those become realities.

I hope the developers will find a way to make the game fair for the non-spending users and the spending ones. Many recent succesfull online games have reached the glory by using alternative ways to earn money: selling Premium-Only items that do not overhaul the game by being op, but by giving something useful to the spenders: Cosmetics, like decals, flags, XT equipment skins. Time-Skippers, like a better score-multiplier pass: the standard 30% and 50% ones being sold for crystals, the big 100% or 200% ones for money. Crystals multipliers passes, bought for money and doubles your income for a month, giving you x2 the crystals you earned after a battle. Premium time that give the premium users the above stated bonuses for the duration of the subscription. Utilities, like hot-swap slots to load some equipment presets to change fast in battle. A special color in chat for premium users. a Free name change each month of premium you purchase. discounted speed-ups for the premium members. really, i can list endless things that would make players happy to support the game by spending money that would not make it pay-to-win. i hope this gets a read by someone important.

^those ideas of you are good.

The designers and devs stated a few times that they would like to sell some of the premium stuff that you also listed in your good ideas.. but they are limited by todays engine, that makes such things not feasible.

As far as I have seen in this game today, the designers have very well understood that it is a problem to sell permanent power to the players. If you purchase a turret or hull or microupgrades today.. you just get an advantage in time. Because while time goes on, other can catch up with you by playing a lot, earning a lot, getting the same. Sooner or later your advantage is leveled out. You paid for the good feeling of power in the meanwhile. You paid to not have to wait. You paid to use your time on something else (either real life or in game) instead or working ingame for your equipment. Drugs follow the same concept, as you buy them and they are used up (although they feel massively overpowered.. but the concept is the same).

I see the giveaway of XT equipment at exactly the same parameters like M3 as a test ballon of such concept. To check out how many users reflect on "purchasing looks".

It seems to me, like they think a lot about it. And that's important, because as someone else stated it before, a large change is also a large risk.

They messed up seriously with starting missions with too large give aways, and messed up the payment story. But I guess they learned from it, that "giving much and taking away" is harder then "giving less and give a little more afterwards".

So those things that had happened the last months should work out to improove their thoughts and game plans.

I basically have good hopes for the new game.

Shame that most of the important talk is for sure on the russian forums.. but anyways, sometimes they read in the english forum as well :p

Sounds like a waste of money, unlike the current arrangement.

it seems they are heading in the right way. lets hope devs will do the good moves. i will be happy to keep throwing money at them if they deliver a good and enjoyable game experience

I wouldn't bother with purchasing for appearances unless it included a significant improvement in beating opponents in areas not based on appearances.
Otherwise it's merely paying for fashion shows in place of practicality. No thanks...

Yea I highly agree with this idea. I have spent about 80 dollars on this game and I DO NOT want my turrets and hulls gone.

Unless they give us the option to reimburse us with all (or at least 50%) of the game crystals we invested in Tanki?
