fairly transferring current Tanki accounts to Unity

Recommended Posts

there is a flaw in that system:

the developing team already stated that they will stop working on flash tanki after the statistics update to speed up the unity developing process. Do you know what happens to a game that does not receive any update? after some months, the player base drastically drops, untill only some hundred of veterans will have to forcefully leave tanki because the servers will be too pricey to mantain.

Here is the main flaw: if the flash tanki player will not be able to move their garages to the new version, they will be basically kicked in the mouth as a "thank you" for mantaining the game and paying for it during the last years. this is a thing that just Cant happen in my head.

i really doubt the game will have extremely different mechanics. there will still obliviously be ranks and crystals, and the current equipment pieces. all what everyone is asking here, is the ability to move our garages to the new game, because we just cant "keep playing the flash version" as is assured it will not last long. really, imagine a player who has archieved a high number of m3's by spending lots of money and/or effort in this game. is it right to make him start over?

Actually if they just left the damned thing alone instead of cramming crappy updates down our throats all the time and nerfing/buffing weapons and hulls every two weeks I think more people would play.  As it is the more updates they do the fewer the players because it gets really irritating having things change all the time.

that is not right. lets see how the things would have evolved if tanki did not update the game:

We are back in times where supplies had no cooldowns, crystals were dropping in boxes, graphics were pixelated, physics buggy, hackers were everywhere and everything was unlocked by warrant officer 5. we see some players roaming in m1-m1 combos in the major ranks and some other with a full m3 tank at warrant office. how long would a game like this last? 6 months? a year? then it would be closed because better games would take the players away from tanki. the end.

how long would have umanity lasted, if we were still living in caves and eating berries if we would have not "updated"?

peoples like you are still crying because you lost your ability to abuse supplies/sealclub low ranks/farm crystal boxes thank to an update.

LOL! I never farmed crystal boxes. In fact I rarely go after the gold box unless it just happens to show up right where I am at.

The game was better before smart cooldowns because when those were implemented they also forced us to start using predictable drop zones. This made it much more difficult to use field supplies because all someone has to do now is park their shaft and point at the pre-determined spots and pick off people going to get supplies. Try getting the repair kit in blue base on Serpukhov without having a shaft snipe you while getting it.

When there were random drops it was easier for a non-drugger to compete because often times several different supplies would drop in one spot.

There were no problems with people camping when the spots were random.

The updates consistently ruin the game. There hasn't been a single update since I started playing a year ago that actually made the game more balanced and more fair. Smart cooldowns don't achieve anything in terms of preventing or stopping the big druggers from raiding a round.

What has been done about mults and saboteurs and team mates pushing people off and flipping them? Not a damned thing.

well i have to say that drops were always predictable. they just added the marks to let the newbies learn where they drop faster.

and dont remember that there is a difference between using 5 supplies simultaneosly and having to chose wich one to activate.

dont remember the mouse controls? the shaft improvements? the new paints? the new guns? the hammer and other turrest balancing? just to tell you a few ones.

But we are going off topic, and i suggest to go back to the original topic.

Were there no discounts in those times?

Even than I guess we just have to except that we will never get a full compensation.

That would IMO simply mean the end of Alternativa company, a dedicated TO team losing

their jobs and consequently would leave us empty handed too.

Ofcourse I strongly prefer a complete (with existing garage) transfer of our accounts to Unity.

As it was once said by TO...

edit: another thing, if we get a compensation instead, and can build up our garages with the equipment

we like/prefer this time, that would save many of us quite some crystals.

when i started there was almost no discount, and if there was 25% it was much

Great topic....really this shouldn't even need to be considered. The devs talk about game economy of new unity version like as if it's going to effect Tanki.  They have more chance of losing buyers if they don't transfer why would people accept long hours, hard work and money going to waste?! Tanki players help promote Tanki and bring in new players.

I will not buy cry again until they give us the same kind of rates for the packages as the Russian community get!

Also I don't care how good they make new Tanki look if we cannot have our original accounts transfered then I won't ever spend money on this game again!!!!

"Hi Tankers! The new tanki is coming out! We know some of you have been playing for years, but hey! Start all over again. Oh yeah, all the crystals you bought? They're going to waste too! We hope you enjoy the new transfer as much as we do!" I can say bye to tanki if I have to start over again. Seriously, just no.

I see no reason to compensate buyers

There is a huge reason.  Not because it is fair, to retain people most likely to spend money, and not out of a sense of generosity.  Pvp games need a community.  To always have enough to fill matches, at all hours of the day, preferably speaking the same language so they can organize.  This greatly increases the games appeal.  It is much easier to introduce a game with an established community than to build a new game from scratch.  They might get a few diehards to play and a few who get curious for a few weeks but it'd be foolish to risk fracturing the community when they could use it as a selling point to attract new players.

I think it is safe to assume we are all going to get screwed somehow - whether it is loss of garage items, loss of value, and/or loss of rank.

Underneath a brilliant post from another topic which also includes the Devs view on the matter.

Tanki will be a new game, not an update: draw your own conclusions.

That is kinda sad that Unity development gone dark recently and there are no information around to rely on. Naturally this kind of topics start to popping, spreading guesses and rumors.

Let's clear-up few things. Please note that I am not the one who makes all the decisions and some things might change in future, but here how it goes right now:

  • Tanki Online Unity is a new game. It might have even its own name. But this is not the update, it is a separated product.
  • Tanki Online Flash is planned to be updated constantly at least a year or two. As long as player's interest will be there, the game will be there.
  • As long as TOU and TOF are different games when you talk about "transfer" you talk about actually doubling player's garage as long as nobody will ever remove your stuff from the old game.
  • In this case if there should or should not be a transfer is yet to be decided. But please don't think like we are going to take everything away from you. The question is what are we going to give those who are going to play the new game. Devs are not insane to place all their bets on new unreleased game and ruin what is working and bringing in revenue.
  • The new game ain't going to be World of Tanks or Armored Warfare or War Thunder rip-off. This is going to same Tanki.
  • Our goal is to transfer gameplay and physics as close as it possible. Realism and tank physics simulation is something we never put on top of gameplay, we are not going to change this approach.
  • And maps are going to be same small tight battlegrounds, we are just adding some scenery to the background. Picture playing on Rio with authentic backgrounds? Something like that.

So umm... this is just my personal opinion, but it is going to be cool. Old game will stay as it is (less new features, but what can you do) and the new game will hopefully kick in. I think about this whole unity deveopment thing as if the game is Counterstike. Old one is still out there, you know.

I can accept what you have said and respect that you took the time to clarify a few points.

I can also accept that Tanki does allow decent enough communication between the developers and the players which you don’t get with a lot of other games.

That being said, I think what has contributed to the confusion and rumours  is Tanki’s poor handling of the situation. It was Tanki who muddied the waters regarding the two different products. If it is a separate product then it should have been kept separate from the start.

Will there be a way to switch from the current Tanki to the new version? Or will players have to start from the beginning?

The new Tanki and the current version will both exist at the same time.

You will be able to play any of the 2 versions.

You will also be able to copy your account from the old Tanki to the new one, but only once.

This will copy your rank, crystals and garage.

After that you will be able to play both the old Tanki and the new version

There have been a few different topics regarding certain aspects of the game and the replies from Tanki’s moderators are usually along the lines of “developers are too busy working on unity”,  “tanki doesn’t have the manpower to deal with certain issues because of unity “ .

If it is going to be a new product then really telling players of the current game that developers are busy working on its replacement rather than addressing the current issues is not good enough. I know Tanki has thrown out a few improvements recently but I am sure a lot of flash players will wonder what other benefits/ improvements  could have been achieved by now if the developers were focused 100% on the current game eg: (mults, cheaters, hackers).

Current players were excited, they were led to believe something exciting was coming and we were all going to be a part of it. They had more patience because they felt it was going to be worth it for a better game. Now if flash is going to be run as a separate entity, then really any benefits or improvements that come with the new Tanki are of no concern to the flash players unless they abandon their current account and start over.

I guess flash players are starting to realise that they are going to be continually the poor relation to unity. It is inconceivable that Flash players who don’t abandon their accounts will be given the same consideration and support as the  unity version which is going to be Tanki’s flagship for the coming years.

So rather than being able to celebrate Tanki’s rebirth and move forward in unity (pun intended) we are going to be witness to its slow demise with battles becoming fewer and fewer and chat eventually falling silent.

Personally I had a feeling something like this could happen so I decided not to put any more money into the game a while back until I knew more but I could certainly understand any recent buyers unhappiness with the recent news. They will be kings of an empty castle. Personally I got my money’s worth so I am not too concerned.

Ps: Granted the decision has not yet been made regarding transfer but it is no longer definite either.

So basically I'm wasting my time playing the current Tanki Online. Well dang it!

Whatever "goodies" we get in Unity, I hope it'll be like verify that you have an account in Flash, and it'll reward you based on your rank or garage or something.

NOT something like Tanki Online Unity just released! x4 funds for 1 week!

Cause that'd be just trash if it'll be for everyone. Get what I mean?

Come on Tanki. Tankers have feelings too. :P

(Edit) Aaaand yeeah I'm going to stop playing until the V-log says something about transfer to Tanki Unity. . . .

Just like how Lord-Of-The-Snipers said it.

I don't want to be any part of an "empty" castle. Sure it'd be updated (barely) for maybe a year or two, but in the long run Unity is where it's at.

@Leekh_A.forever: I'll still be moving onto Unity tanki either way, but I'll be really sad if we don't get any transfer or exclusive "goodies" or something. Maybe an exclusive paint or achievements or something I don't know.

But yeeaaah . . .repeating what Lord-Sniper said about the "empty" castle.

I doubt Flash Tanki will get updates at all, or barely. Furthermore, I know I won't be the only one moving to Unity.

So it'll probably be even less people on Flash than how it is currently.

Most of the attention will be on Unity.

But looking on the bright side, Unity Tanki's graphics do look pretty awesome. . . Good job Devs. .(3D Grass and bushes for cover! :o) . . . Even though your game is drug or die. xD

I cant wait for the next V-log to tell us something about the account transfers. no one knows how it will end.

I might see things in a dark shade, but for me is assured that a way or another the Devs will find a way to politically-correct announce that we will not get any major transfers or bonuses from the old game to the other. i think we will not get a garage transfer but only some goodies like a little rank boost, an archievement, a paint, a little sum of crystals... and they are already preparing the ground talking about "a whole new game" and "the old game will still get updates for a while".

For me, no unity untill i get my stuff on it. no time to start over.
