i prefer the way it is, if a new rank is added there will be alot of changes in "at which rank" some equipment gets unlocked.

Not necessarily, if a rank is added before Generalissimo all equipment on ranks above get moved down one and Generalissimo equipment is more split between top 2 ranks, and same logic if the rank is after Generalissimo

I think it was better if we had ranks like Generalissimo First Class, Generalissimo Second Class and so on, with rank symbols equal to the Generalissimo but with roman numerals (I, II, III, IV...)

 

The rankups would be always doubling the previous (1.4M to Generalissimo First Class, +2.8M to generalissimo Second Class, +5.6M to Generalissimo Third Class...), going up to Fifith or Sixth Class. That would  give Generalissimos something to play for other than crystals.
