New map - Less fluff

Recommended Posts

Any chance we might get a new map (or maps) instead of all this fluff we keep getting.  Some of the weapons/upgrades etc have imbalanced the game and diminished much of the early gameplay that made this such a good game.

Also it is too easy to buy progression now and whilst the mission idea is good the rewards are way too high for what is involved. Drugs are not the answer.

As a gamer of over 35 years I have seen, over the years, some really good games ruined by lazy coding or pandering to those who shout loudest.  Good gameplay comes about with a good interface and making the player think about what he is doing and how he can improve as a player, not how much he can get away with on his parents credit card.

Lets get some new challenging maps soon, think about balancing the gameplay and get Tanki back to being the innovative game it was many, man months ago

I agree with a lot of what you said. The game has become more about the monetary items and not the playscapes, majority of which are neglected by both parties.

Since you claim to be a veteran gamer, how does Tanki's upkeep of maps compare to other innovative games?

I'm with you too.

The dev's can do what they want. They want Unity, they do it and no other.

If they don't agree with you there won't be ANY new map.

Let's try out unpopular maps and wait for news.

Edit: Spell mistake.

Games evolve, especially those not on regular commercial release, and I guess it depends on your own perspective of innovative, many have innovative elements to them, not all are game enhancing!  I have been fortunate enough to undertake a  fair bit of beta testing for independent s/w houses and the good ones continually look to upgrade the gaming experience because they know that it will bring in the financial rewards in time.  Sure it takes time for the smart guys behind the scenes to make this happen and it is important that the feedback they get is unbiased.  One of the reasons I rarely post on the forum is that there is so much crap on here, any kind of " informative" discussion gets easily lost, so unless you have a direct line to the devs, mostly it is a waste of time, but one can try from time to time in the hope that somewhere it strikes a chord

m6ttetu - gamers have been around a long time my friend and experience can be a valuable tool dilsharox - with so many unpopular maps, surely the devs can see it is time for change?  i200000 - there was a time comments like that would have seen your account vanish!  But you are right, the devs get what the devs want, so do we withhold payments, stop playing the game, bombard them with requests for change? Any serious discussion tends to get ignored on here!

I did make some payments to the devs in the early days of the game because I believed it was worth the investment, then again, back then anything considered  as rebellion or negative was immediately taken down and accounts were binned, at least now we have an element of free speech!

So what is the answer to returning the game to the gamers?  We will always have the younger gamers who enjoy lots of whizz bangs etc, then there are the old buggers like me who believe you have to earn your stripes and fight with a limited arsenal at your disposal.

Sure it is a balancing act from a gaming perspective, seems to me that the devs are kicking back taking the $$ now with little regard to how they first envisaged the game.

Whilst the "whizz - bang" element prevail and shout loudest, I'm unsure whether the game will return to it's excellent roots and we will continue to see the game evolve into just another shoot 'em up

Madness, Gravity, Industrial Zone, Highways, Atra, Solikamsk and many more... All these maps are a lot more complicated compared to most Tanki arenas, yet they are unpopular and are rarely played. Why? Because they are complicated, as simple as that. Unfortunately, nobody likes complicated maps except a minority of players.

And how could the game die? When the minority doesn't feel they're wanted anymore. When you get others beside the minority to play those maps, then the issue wouldn't be as obvious as it is, especially for higher ranked players who are all done with unlocking maps. Why does Daily missions only feature the popular maps? Because they would rather have cards die off than try to save them. That, or they're just neglecting to extend the potential of the mission system.

You want to talk about "financial rewards over time", look at all the maps in the game. They all have a crystal/monetary value. They each have had their time in the spotlight, at one point. However many of them have died off and the value of those have gone up whilst the popular have gone down, in terms of their demand. While you can look at Silence and see it as an item worth a heavy chunk of cash because its played so often, it doesn't even matter because maps that are not played equivocate to the loss of revenue for Tanki over time. The maps are there for enjoyment, and when not enjoyed to a percentage thats even comparable to Silence, its a problem.

And why tanki would remove the old maps , If it was a special for any event , then why they didn't removd "Aleksakndrov" it was the 2015 new y ear map! why they removed map canyon , deck-9 , i would like to say for devs ... u just need to listen for players vote ,  don't think u r better than them , u aalso need to listen to them.

Canyon, Magadan, Deck9...

NOT a minority of players want them back - even, one of them is as complicated as the Starladder maps.
