The Progress And Decline of tanki

i play tanki bcoz it loads fast. the new version looks like it will take one hell of a RAM to support especially in big maps with a lot of graphics...but if it is as fast and good as the current loading speed, im fine with making and ranking in with a new acc (as long as its worth it)

If they made it too realistic tanki would look like world of tanks, and everyone knows that world of tanks would look way better than tanki even worse if they realised the flash version of it.

well some people are even saying that. we have to start from the start in Unity Tanki because Devs arent sure if they will be able to transfer our garage, rank etc. and if we do not get the same garage and rank in the new tanki. then everything is ruined. quit Tanki try out other games

Exaxtly. Let us our stuff or bye.

I would think tanki makes most of its revenue from lower ranks/new players.

Like anything, when it is new, it is interesting and more enjoyable and people more likely to drop a few $$ on it.  But you can only blow someone up so many times before it doesn’t give you the same return of satisfaction, it will diminish.

From what I have seen, as you move up in ranks, available battles decrease, especially in en. Now when I started there was no shortage of battles, where did all those guys go? They should have progressed at around the same rate as me, so where are they?  From my own experience, I would say brigadier is the start of the end for a lot of players.

The game has a shelf life, some people hang around forever but in general, I would think a lot move on after a year, clans may extend it slightly but I would think only for the minority.

The fact Tanki has refused to put all those rumours to rest regarding accounts not being transferred to unity only makes it more obvious that they are not worried about losing all those high rank players. It only really affects high rankers and yet tanki is not able to reassure them, if they were Tanki’s golden egg, Tanki’s first priority would be to put them at ease. I don’t think they are as important to tanki’s bottom line as they like to think they are.

They may lose current players with the move to unity and the change of graphics but I am sure some genius locked up in the tanki basement figures they will increase their target market with the improvements and they are not too worried about what the current batch of players think because the new batch of players are around the next corner.

I guess Tanki wants to be McDonalds, be everywhere and making lots of money rather than a fancy restaurant catering to sentimentalism. Way of the world unfortunately.

Very well said and I agree with what you've said. however I'd like to look at the angles of it

There are multiple areas of pressure to get people to buy crystals. Once people notice what it means to have more power with better supplies, equipment, micro-upgrades, etc. They either give in and hand over the credit card or keep it to themselves and work through it. The game wouldn't survive without the people who don't pay. I wouldn't say those players stop at Brigadier, I'd say around Major. Once people have passed that they generally go farther. The one year, short term kind of gamers wont get passed Major.

I thought it was explained in a Vlog that it would be possible to transfer over to Unity...But of course they see it as a new beginning. They would probably rather get the Unity oriented audience that has moved on from Flash and recreate the base of the game from scratch.

I once saw somewhere on the company's site that their goal was to have the game reach 1 billion people by the year 2020. I've not been able to find it since. Even with the new graphics, the current monetary system is what is going to prevent the longer term players that may purchase several times to be prevalent. The fact that there is a sizable amount of players that don't make it past a certain rank should be a red flag. But I digress, Unity is not the knight and shining armor for the game. It will bring out the broader audience(progress), but people will see through the purchasing pressures just as they have prior. More change with the new platform will be key.

That is kinda sad that Unity development gone dark recently and there are no information around to rely on. Naturally this kind of topics start to popping, spreading guesses and rumors.

Let's clear-up few things. Please note that I am not the one who makes all the decisions and some things might change in future, but here how it goes right now:

  • Tanki Online Unity is a new game. It might have even its own name. But this is not the update, it is a separated product.
  • Tanki Online Flash is planned to be updated constantly at least a year or two. As long as player's interest will be there, the game will be there.
  • As long as TOU and TOF are different games when you talk about "transfer" you talk about actually doubling player's garage as long as nobody will ever remove your stuff from the old game.
  • In this case if there should or should not be a transfer is yet to be decided. But please don't think like we are going to take everything away from you. The question is what are we going to give those who are going to play the new game. Devs are not insane to place all their bets on new unreleased game and ruin what is working and bringing in revenue.
  • The new game ain't going to be World of Tanks or Armored Warfare or War Thunder rip-off. This is going to same Tanki.
  • Our goal is to transfer gameplay and physics as close as it possible. Realism and tank physics simulation is something we never put on top of gameplay, we are not going to change this approach.
  • And maps are going to be same small tight battlegrounds, we are just adding some scenery to the background. Picture playing on Rio with authentic backgrounds? Something like that.

So umm... this is just my personal opinion, but it is going to be cool. Old game will stay as it is (less new features, but what can you do) and the new game will hopefully kick in. I think about this whole unity deveopment thing as if the game is Counterstike. Old one is still out there, you know.

I am not ruining anyone feelings or whatever, but flash engine is very outdated. I mean tell me one MMO game that uses flash now other than TO. We got Unreal, Unity, Cry engine, and more. All games are being made on this or some engines that companies make. But flash? Nah.

Are all the textures in the new game be hand-made?
