The Progress And Decline of tanki

 Share

Recommended Posts

I'd like to see and play in the new tanki. After I saw some new news on the VLOG, it seems pretty good to me. As long as 90% of the hulls/turrets/paints/parameters stay, I'm happy. As for transferring accounts to the new tanki, I'll try it on my alt first to get some new taste.

Some people are saying we'd have to start from scratch - not true. It hasn't been officially said that we'd have to; or, people who've invested many of their savings on this game will be pissed.

New vlog answers many Qs

Thx tanki

True, but still not the most important one:

It 's in the interest of both Tanki and the players that Tanki Unity becomes a success.

It 's up to Tanki in my view to make this happen as soon as possible.

To be clear: the still unanswered question about account transfer should be answered soon and

in a way that it is positive for both parties.

TO 's economy shouldn 't suffer for logical reasons, on the other hand there must be a satisfactory solution for us players

who worked hard for our account(s): buyers and non-buyers alike.

In this way we will have a quick transfer of most of our community to TO Unity.

This will more or less automatically lead to the end of Tanki Flash.

Somehow sad but things change and Adobe 's Flash has become a dead end

Though I love the many good parts of the old TO Flash it 's a fact that TO Unity has the future.

Granted TO Unity will have it 's own problems, like the loss of all browser support in the coming years but I believe most of us

will be using TO Unity as a standalone client very soon.

It will mean less lag and all those other issues that occur when playing through a browser. We 've all been there with some kind

of an error...

A standalone client will improve our gaming experience, which is in everybody 's interest.

Some players would like to stick to Tanki Flash, I do understand that and TO holds up the illussion that this will be the case.

So that we can have two healthy TO versions at the same time.

Personally I don 't believe this for one minute.

Some will say: why not, there are other game with more versions like Counterstrike.

Well, we don 't have the same large pool of players and you need certain numbers to keep a game going.

All energy and effort will soon be going to TO Unity and though TO Flash will keep support as TO claims, even updates,

it 's not at all in their interest to keep these two seperate games going.

Not in our interest either if Tanki finds the right solution for the account transfer I believe.

If they don 't, we will indeed have two seperate TO 's, because many (long-time) players will stay in TO Flash if their

account becomes worthless in TO Unity and IMO two TO 's will eventually mean the end of both and

consequently Alternativa Company. We 're just not big enough to have two.

Two seperate games means two seperate communities: less battles to choose from, maybe still doable in peak hours,

but what about the more quit times on the servers due to the timezones?

They will need a large TO staff to keep two completely different running games going, which simply means more servers,

more personel and salary that all has to be paid.

Which is good for employment, but in nowadays very competetive economy sadly not good for most companies.

No, we have to say goodbye to TO Flash as soon as possible IMO when the new TO Unity is running smoothly.

Hopefully with good marketing from TO and us players being enthusiastic about TO Unity (if it 's good ofcourse,

but I believe it wil be: we will need some time to get accustomed to it, different looks etc. but that 's normal)

and spreading that news that "there 's a (shiny) new kid in town" there 's not a lot to keep TO Unity

from becoming a huge success!

It 's completely up to you Tanki: which path will you choose?

I am saying that flash has it's own charm to it..

Flash is fun, many people love it..

If I want to have a game with really good graphics, I will just play world of tanks, which I also love..

You call flash tanki old, the new tanki will be a very strategic game, unlike flash which was a fun mmo game..

This pic looks like it is a very big map with less action

You are right.

That's probably a painted wall and you probably can't go past this point.

agreed.

plus why don't the trees on the right have shadows?

I expect better things from unity, they have had long enough to work on it

I was just looking some old PM's and found this

Hi Canadian_eh, thanks for letting me know.

We do try to suggest different ideas to developers and creators of Tanki all the time, but as you know, they are pretty busy with Unity version of the game right now. However, you are posting your ideas in the right place, where developers are mostly likely to see them. As for me, I'll review them as well, and if they are any good, I'll try to forward them further too. We do need to work together, for the sake of the community :)

Look at the date stamp. Here it is just over a year later and they are still using Unity as an excuse to ignore the real issues that plague this game.

You obviously aren't a game developer yourself, otherwise you'd know that games need years to develop, and in many cases it takes years to get first playable version. So for them to keep this version of Tanki operational, and develop completely new one in a different platform is a task that cannot be done fast. Just sayin' ...

Please tell me that one must be a game developer to fully understand that using the same excuse more than 3 times to postpone answering is a part of a professional game developer or any kind of business deals.

It would certainly be easier to understand if you were actually in their office everyday with the ability to see the whole picture.

You do not see their schedule or know of their issues. It is impossible for you to make an accurate judgement then. For all you know, they are writing down ideas they see that they like and implementing them into the new version, or will in the future. Unity is very good place to fix some of the larger game issues.

I imagine that the lighting is not actually finished. The V-Log stated that that is what they are currently working on, since they have recently finished the 4 tester maps.

Yeah yeah, unity takes long to develop, but that does not mean its a valid excuse for all this. And then they talk about their "economy," which is quite sad considering they get a ton from buyers including kits and MUs, which they rarely give sales on, as well as all that money they have put into SL. Tanki has been fun, but these days it is not looking bright..

The developers need a lot of income to be able to keep their office running, pay the bills for their houses, live comfortably, shoot the Vlogs, support their family, buy their food and many other reasons. It's risky depending on a free game to get money because all of the income comes from the players that donate. Also why would they intentionally destroy the game that they depend on for their money? And about the sales, how would you know what the devs are planning? They are probably reducing the sales for a reason unknown to us but will help tanki online and us. The devs aren't mad why would they ruin their source of income? The future of tanki IS looking bright because of unity. This will attract more people and the devs will get more money. It's bright for us because who isn't excited for TOU? :) Edited by Erty1235_tanki

Stop being silly, daily rewards were introduced with high rewards to make the transition from daily gifts to missions easier for tanki. It made players believe that it was going to benefit the players and punish the people that just logged in for freebies. Roll on a few weeks after the settling in period and then the rewards were scaled down to less then daily gifts for a lot of people.

Unlike some people I don't believe tanki are stupid but they are deceptive sometimes, i don't believe they ever intended leaving daily missions as high as they were, it was just to sugar coat the change.

It's the same with turrets, certain turrets enjoy an op stage to encourage people to buy them, when enough people have bought them the game becomes unbalanced so they nerf it and then op another turret and it all starts over again and people want the new op weapon.

Like I said they are not stupid but they do remind me of a used car salesman.

Ok sales are practically over, we can speculate on unity now.

When smart cool downs were introduced they doubled our drugs in the garage as a sweetener.

I was like a monk during this sale, spent nothing but I will admit the 40% did make it a little easier to behave myself.

Anybody else think that if there is no account transfer to unity they may as a compromise transfer our current in game balances or drugs? I think it is why we still waiting on a decision, they didn’t want to ruin their sales.

And yes I do own a tinfoil hat and if you don't, you should get one

It's the new graphics, mechanics and testing that take a lot of the time not the moving of the platform. Moving to a different engine is like making a game that can be played on PC available for a console, which does not take years, but probably a few months from my speculations.

Never specified parts of the process that needs time to develop, just wanted to raise awareness about the fact that players do not know the process of development of one game, therefore it's easy for them to speculate and think it can be all done in a few months... and it cannot.

Tanki even closed Star ladder, for which I agonized for 2 months June/July,I was working really zealously to reach to rank of Field Marshal till September's sale to get all light... What I got is 40% discount on which I couldn't afford all light and most important change that Star ladder got closed -,- Tanki wasted my 2 Months June/July I could have done Web Designing Course instead of this...Now tanki has became useless for :/ Sorry But That's the Truth and I know Half of the Tankers won't even try the new tanki including me.My main purpose for this game was Star ladder but now and to reach the zenith position in it.
